A good game but nothing to get excited about
Review of Sega Superstars Tennis (NDS) by
callmegreer
Advantages: Great characters Fun sounds solid gameplay
Disadvantages: nothing new nothing very exciting nothing to write home about
...Sega superstars Tennis brings together the great sega characters of the past to battle it out in the ultimate tournament..... Sound familiar? yes its a basic rehash of Mario Tennis, But mario tennis isn't here.... Sega superstars Tennis IS ! !
Its a simple enough formula and one that you wouldnt expect to fail, lots of lovable characters, tennis, super powered moves, simple controls. But its simple perfection is also its downfall. Yes its got good gameplay, you will have fun playing through the trophies to unlock further content of the game, but in the end, its just a pretty average game, it doesnt necessarily fail at any point, its just that it never excells either.
Its got the same characters we've all seen before not bad but not exactly interesting
its got a basic D pad 2 button control system which works just fine. and what you...

Game Set Match Sega
Review of Virtua Tennis (DC) by
BennyRialto
Advantages: Great graphics, great game...
Disadvantages: Nope
...Last month, my mum brought me a Dreamcast as a graduation present. Having never been a fan of Sega’s final console, I can’t say I knew much about what games to buy to accompany my new console: but there was one that I knew I wanted from the second I opened the box. Virtua Tennis had been the scourge of City University’s 2nd XI Wednesday nights last year, as the dreaded arcade machine in the corner of the Student Union bar choked up coin after coin of our money. My Dreamcast would never be complete without that little piece of history taking place in my living room.
Sampras, Agassi, and Keurten may dominate the tennis world at the moment, but Virtua Tennis proves that these days it’s not the names but the game that’s important. With no superstars aside from Britain’s own Tim Henman, there was always...

Virtua tennis
Review of Sega Dreamcast by
jonlucaz
Advantages: Good
Disadvantages: Too good
...It makes a nice change to play a tennis game that is both realistic to play and looks fabulous. The graphics are simply jaw dropping and so smooth. Virtua Tennis (kind of a sequel to the Saturn title of the same name) is a highly polished game which contains all the playability of arcade tennis with the lastability and depth of a console game. The courts are varied and the different game options make the game much more interesting than previous tennis 'sims'. The training sessions in particular, where you have to hit giant balls and barrels, are well realised and fun to play. The all important multi-player option is there in force, with single and doubles matches - the doubles match being perfect for those party occasions - and you can even choose to play doubles with a computer partner! Virtua
tennis is another top sports game...

she is good at tennis and fit
Review of Anna Kournikova by
joewright
Advantages: sexy
Disadvantages: none
...No matter what people say about anna kournikova like that she is all looks and no tennis skills or qualities is rubbish. I think that she is a very good tennis player and should not be put down by the fact that people see her as more of a chic than a tennis superstar. She may be out of wimbledon but give her chance and I reckon that one day she will be a champion. I also do think that she is fit and that the papers should pay more attention to what she acheives in sport....

Virtua Tennis is a Dreamcast must
Review of Virtua Tennis (DC) by
cascade
Advantages: Brilliant graphics and gameplay
Disadvantages: Gameplay may be a bit limited for some
...Over the last few months, with the news of Sega pulling out from supporting the Dreamcast, game titles have started to dry up. Thank god for Virtua Tennis I say. This title is real quality in every aspect. The graphics are brilliant with the players animated brilliantly, and the gameplay is awsome which will keep you coming back for more. When playing the computer the game is such fun, but its the multi player mode where this game comes into is element. The multi player mode is such fun as you batlle against your firends, perfect for a party. The great thing is that this game is an almost perfect reproduction of the Arcade classic, so for anyone who liked that, will absolutley love this. Worth buying a Dreamcast in my opinion. Long Live The Cast!...

Great Tennis Experience
Review of Virtua Tennis (DC) by
Seymour
Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: none
...Virtua Tennis has to be the greatest ever Tennis game and is now in my eyes the undisputed world champion Sports game the world has ever seen. Created by Sega, this has to be the game that will win over playstation and N64 owners and convert them to Dreamcast. The graphics are outstanding with incredibly detail and accuracy to the players' expressions and reactions.
There are 8 players to start with (all 8 are real players!) with 8 more to unlock, but unfortunately there are no women players in the game. It's so easy to pick up and play thanks to a simple but brilliant control system. If you want to play a good game this summer - don't get Virtua Tennis - if you want to play one of the finest game's ever created, then do. Ace.
There is an exhibition mode where you can control all the settings - this is basically a one off match (as...

Sega comes through with one of the best games yet
Review of Virtua Tennis (DC) by
fred_durst
Advantages: tennis fans will like it
Disadvantages: can get boring
...Tennis fans won't complain too much once they get a look at the game, which manages to replicate the sport from a broadcast level like never before. From the amazing players to the clarity and complexity of the stadiums, which include detailed sponsor signs and video monitors for the indoor stadiums, this is possibly the best looking sports game ever. The sound effects and voices are also impressive, with arena announcers commenting in different languages and clear ball and racket sounds. The amazing fade-ins and fade-outs and motion-blurred replays will suggest to people that they're playing an amazingly presented videogame. Even with the questionable player faces and the stock rock music in the background, tennis fans will be in heaven upon first spotting this game.
And then they'll pick up a controller and won't be able to put...

Brilliant Piece of Hardware!
Review of Sega Dreamcast by
Mikey_B
Advantages: Good graphics, internet, great Sega games, arcade perfect conversions, internet access, reasonable price, Sonic!!!
Disadvantages: No Codemasters or EA Support, no unmetered internet access
...with the Dreamcast. However, if they continue to provide great games like Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Virtua Tennis, Metropolis Street Racer, Soul Calibre and many more to their customers, they definitely stand a chance.
I would recommend this console to a dedicated Sega fan or casual gamer alike. It offers a superb service to users of all ages - with games bright, cuddly, fun games for the younguns and violent ones certified 18 for more mature gamers. It provides internet access to those who cannot afford an expensive PC, and brings internet gaming to the masses. With a price of £150 (the Playstation 2 costs double that), it is definitely suberb value for money, and a current offer means you can buy it bundled with a good qualtity standalone DVD for £300 for those who seriously like their entertainment....

Virtually-almost-there
Review of Virtua Tennis 2 (PS2) by
tom1clare
Advantages: Playable and fun, nice court-design, World Tour concept, training games
Disadvantages: Matches last games rather than sets, only 16 players, can be completed in a matter of days, some long loading times
...Over the years Sega have built something of a reputation when it comes to producing quality arcade games – Streets Of Rage, SEGA Rally and Virtua Racing (perhaps distantly related to Virtua Tennis?) to name just a few. All these titles received home-console adaptations; proudly showcased as ‘exclusives’, and naturally released only on Sega’s own machines.
Virtua Tennis 2, first released into the arcades back in 1999, was no different – Sega hoped it would help spearhead the challenge of their new next-generation console, the Dreamcast. However, times change and arcade games seem to have gone out of vogue somewhat in the 21st century, and by 2002, Sega’s dreams of a Dreamcast-lead industry had evaporated following the machines failure to sell. Sega decided to finish with the tiresome business of console-making and instead focused...
