...When using this product you had to start in stages by doing a small section at a time. I found it was easier starting with the legs and spraying the product onto my leg then using an old sponge to spread it around as this product stains your hands terribly. It gave you a very good overall tan, although you needed to be sure you had covered all areas. I thought I had covered my feet an ankles well until the product had completely dried and I realised I had patches. I feel this is a good tanning product and the tan is very natural, however it washes off very easily and rubs of when near clothing. The bottle lasts a long time but dont quite feel it is worth the money as there is better products out there which are less hassle....

...After using tonnes of high-street fake tans I was very apprehensive about trying Fake Bake but decided to give it a go. The first time I purchased Fake Bake was from www.lookfantastic.co.uk and was in a set which included Fake Bake original lotion, body scrub and body oil and I was left with not much change from £50.00!! The best self tan around? I beg to disagree!

Advantages: Easy to see where you're applying it, quick drying.

...I bought St Tropez Self Tan Lotion, after reading many reviews swearing that it was the best self tan product they had ever used. I was excited that finally, I might be able to have a natural, flawless tan instead of a patchy orange disappointment. St Tropez Self Tan Lotion turned out to produce the latter result. I shaved my legs the day before, exfoliated in the morning (especially my knees, wrists, hands, ankles, feet), moisturised about 3 hours before, and then applied the product using gloves and mixing with a small amount of moisturiser around my ankles, knees, feet, elbows, wrists, hands. It took a long time to apply, because even though I could see where I was putting it, the self tan didn't seem to want to stay on, I didn't even rub it in, but it started clumping together and then drying leaving some of that area white...

Advantages: I love the smell! Non streaky/non orange if applied correctly.

...Although I got on fantastically well with the Whipped Bronze Instant Self-Tanning Mousse from St Tropez I'm always up for trying new products and it appeared to me that more people use the normal 'lotion' as opposed to the mousse. Is it better? Let's see. ST TROPEZ TINTED SELF-TANNING LOTION The bottle for this lotion is quite different to the mousse. This lotion is presented in a smart, thick white plastic bottle with a black pump action nozzle. It proclaims itself as being 'Step 3' (and we all know what that means!) St Tropez like to make out that only their Step 1 and Step 2 could POSSIBLY precede Step 3 but I disagree - Step 1 is essentially just an exfoliator and Step 2 is a moisturiser. I would imagine that anyone willing to fork out money on a fake tan probably owns AT LEAST one exfoliator and moisturiser already...

Most natural tan!

Advantages: Natural tan, long lasting, easy to apply
Disadvantages: smells

...I use this product regularly and think it is the best fake tan of them all! My best results have been when I exfoliate before and moisturise 3 hours before applying the tan. So I recommend doing this before you fake tan. Most of the time I skip this step as it still does acheive excellent results. I think it is important to leave 3 hours after moisturising for the skin to soak up the moisture otherwise this can make your tan not develop as deep. The fake tan goes on brown so you can see where you are putting it a lot of the other fake tans out there go on colourless therefore you can't see where you have put it on and how heavy you have put it on. If I buy a new bottle I find the pump difficult to get the fake tan out however it does get going eventually. It does go on streaky however aslong I cover the area with fake tan...

Last year, being a very pale shade with the task of being a bridesmaid for one of my mates, I decided that I didn't want my pale skin to clash with the pale dress I had to wear!! So off to a salon to have the St Tropez professional tanning treatment. I was amazed! I emerged from the salon with a decent tan (as it is coloured you can see the effects immediately). The tan developed and I was left looking as though I had been on holiday. It lasted for nearly 2 weeks. A real confidence boost for the vain people amongst us!! After seeing how the professionals do it, I now do it myself!!! It is much better to mix half and half with moisturiser. If you go wrong you just apply another thin coat.
