...Clarins Selt Tanning Instant Gel - note the new packaging is bronze not yellow as the image shows above. This is the BEST self tanner I've ever used. The gel drys almost instantly and is completely absorbed with no stickiness. The gel smells pleasant and doesnt have a strong after smell like lots of tanners - it doesn't stain sheets - i like to put it on before bed. It gave the most natural looking tan I have ever achieved from a self tan product and it looks like I've been sun bathing rather than "tango'd" - no orange here just a lovely tan. It is not incredibly dark (so might not be dark enough for those who like St Tropez) but it does give you a lovely colour that looks completely natural which to me is paramount. Paint yourself bronze.

Advantages: Good shade, for fair skin as well, not too yellow or orange, easy to mix with lotion and apply.
Disadvantages: Standard, not too good self tanner smell.

I can get a bit obsessive with testing different brands when looking for 'the best one' of whichever new product I'm about to try out, and was meticulously finger-painting strands of tan on to my belly and arms for comparison from the different self tanner testers in Boots and department stores. A self tanner that doesnt leave you Tangoed!

Fake baked to perfection

Advantages: Natural looking colour
Disadvantages: Quite thick to apply

...I am naturally quite a pale person so fake tan usually sends me orangey and not the golden brown i wish for, that was until i discovered Fake Bake. I applied it as per the instructions and despite the smell that always comes with fake tan i felt quite hopeful after hearing how all these celebrities rated it. Be warned it is quite thick and gloves are a good idea when applying.I tend to buy cheap gloves from the chemist and not the ones they sell with the product as they cost too much! I allowed it to dry fully before putting on pyjamas and going to bed,probably about 20 minutes. The next morning i awoke and showered. What was left was a gorgeous streak free natural looking tan. Better than i have achieved with other self tanners and as im not the best at applying these things i was quite impressed that i had no streaks...

Review of Fake Bake Self Tanning Lotion

Glow without the sunshine!

Advantages: Works within a few days, gives skin a nice glow
Disadvantages: Drying time (but as said in review, could be the way I apply it)

...I?m always weary of using any kind of self tanner, as I am rather pale. I was in Boots one day and saw that Johnson?s Holiday Skin was on offer... so I had to get one, just to give it a go! When I first used it, I just slapped it on, as I didn?t expect to see results very quickly but within two days my legs had a nice glow to them, however, an uneven glow! That was down to me though, not the product! So, I left it for a week or so and tried again. This time I exfoliated my legs and applied a tiny amount of baby lotion (for any rough dry areas) then put on Holiday Skin, I find this worked really well. Sure enough after a couple of days my legs had a lovely glow to them! The only down side is the time it takes to dry (but that could be down to the baby lotion) apart from that, I would say this is a good product!...

Best fake tan in the history of fake tans

...This product has got to be one of the best and most convincing I've ever used. Considering that I'm the most paranoid self-tanner alive, it worked absolute wonders. It sank in quickly, removing the need to strut around naked with arms and legs splayed open for twenty minutes. The guide colour helped me to see exactly where I'd put it. The result the next day was stunning. I have never tanned in my life and have always been paranoid about self-tans streaking and going orange. This one cannot streak and it has a green tint in it which means it cannot go orange. The tan lasted for over a week, and everyone commented on how tanned I was. I used about half the bottle, although this may have been because I was paranoid about it going patchy through using too little. And also, wash your hands VERY regularly, as it sinks in fast...
