We found it ideal around the christmas period as we had family round so we could easily take pictures and print them off. However there are some downfalls as they always are with these sort of printers. The colour cartridge has to be refilled every 40-60 prints which is dissapointing although to be expected i suppose. ...The Selphy DS810 provides good image results for the price (I paid $20 / £10 new). The quality of the photo paper makes quite a difference to the final printed results. With good quality paper it looks like a professional print. The preview LCD is very cheap and low quality, but it is functional. The menu interface is a bit clunky, but also does what it needs. The printer has infrared for wireless conectivity with devices such as mobile phones, but considering the positioning which means the device needs to be held next to the printer instead of rested near it, and the fact that a 1MB photo takes about 2 minutes to transfer, it is useless. Bluetooth would have been a much better solution, but of course incurs a higher hardware cost. The other connectivity options are quite good, with a USB port to directly connect your camera...

...What a great printer! I bought one 12 months ago for my Canon Ixus digital camera (although this printer works with any "PictBridge" compatible camera) and haven't looked back. I'm sure if I added up the price of the printer and the paper/ink packs then it would take a very long time before I started saving money not using photo labs, but it's good fun to use and handy being able to print photos whenever you want (e.g. if a relative comes round and wants a copy). The printer is a real no-brainer to use with a PictBridge-compatible camera - just plug the camera into it and press the "print" button (it can also be plugged into a PC and used like a conventional printer). Canon shot up a notch in my books

Reduced in a sale, the Canon Selphy CP600 cost me £60, and it was definitely £60 well spent. On my daughters birthday I got to take over and try the thing out, and it was very good. The Canon is designed to print photos up to 4 by 8 inches, and the speed of print was brilliant, about 70 seconds for a 4 by 6 inch borderless photo. In addition to offering good speed, it prints good looking output and comes with a rechargeable battery for full portability. So of course I had to steal it and take it to work (as I do with all my children's gadgets) to have a good little play so I charge up the battery (it takes roughly 2hr 30mins to charge from flat) and I took along...

Dell 725 color printer

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: does not print in true black ink color

...This printer has NEVER printed in true (or even close...) black "color". Contacting Dell support, I was told "your printer is no longer under warranty", so they would not even offer assistance. I never used it much (it was bundled with the laptop), so now when I needed it for a project, it is very disappointing that it does not work. I have downloaded and installed the "latest" driver (from 2006!) and that still did not help. I re-ran the printers test pattern and head cleaner, and no black ever printed. The test pattern is blue, pink, yellow and brownish-green. Given other's comments here about the black being a greenish-grey, I would never buy another single-cartridge printer again. I would definitely suggest you purchase a printer that has a dedicated black cartridge. Fast speed accounts for nothing if the colors are screwy!...

I purchased this printer nearly 12 months ago, at the bargain price of £19.99 (prices may differ now), at the time it also came with free delivery. The printer was brought as a in between printer as I did not expect it to last long at the price it was available for. Needless to say, it's been excellent 12 months down the line and it's still going strong! When purchasing through Dell, they automatically add extras on before you purchase which knocks the price up a little, you simply need to go through and take these off. ...ink jet printers seem to be the common solution to every home personal computers hard copy situation but buying a cheap printer can work out costlier in the long run. The problem is the cartrages. Even a cheap inkjet printer can be brought for about £40 squid and have quite a decent quality of print but cartrages range from £15 squid to up to £40 and if the whole family are using it on regualar basis they mightent last very long. There are also special paper to buy like glossy for photo's and options to put the printer into a different mode to specialize for photos so these can take up more ink then in draft mode, so its important to look at the whole perspective on what the printer is to be used for and cartridge price before getting one in....
