Advantages: Good price; comes with holder and PVC wallet, Great sound quality & in-line vol. control.
Disadvantages: Slightly tacky finish, leaks sound, availability, only 1 set of felt pads, no bigger 3.5mm jack.
...an additionally long cord are great for being able to do things if you are listening to music ? the amount of freedom I?ve had has been brilliant ? but the tangling up and the excess has always meant I?ve never ventured outside with the Philips design and I wanted to get something that was more compact in size but not lacking in power. In 2008 after my fourth Sony in-ear earphones got tangled and eventually broke, I stumbled across Sennheiser branded in ear earphones in the bargain bin at John Lewis department store.
As a brand, Sennheiser has always been an expensive brand to my mind and I jumped at the chance of these in-ear headphones, reduced from £14-95 to £12-95 - because as far as I'm concerned, finding Sennheiser products at reduced cost is like gold dust and sometimes it's pays to look around. Sennheiser does it again!
Advantages: Good sound for the price
Disadvantages: The fit, take time to get used to, plastic on cables splits easily
...I've wanted some smaller headphones or earphones for my current Kanguru MP3 player (see review here:- http://www.ciao.co.uk/KanguruSolutionsMicro2GBReview5819672), I didnt really want to use the Sennheiser HD202 headphones I use at home as their a bit bulky but do give great sound (see review here:- http://www.ciao.co.uk/SennheiserHD202Review5776068) so I was already bearing Sennheiser in mind.
I'm quite a fan of The Gadget Show & used their website to see what budget earphones they recommended (Etymotic hf2 @ about £70 don't bother, their insanely expensive especially considering they are being recommended as budget!)) but a lot of people who had viewed their recommendation had also looked at the Sennheiser CX 300 II Precision Noise Isolating Ear-canal Phones so I gave them the once over myself online.

Advantages: Amazing sound quality, great design, hard-wearing
Disadvantages: No hands-free included
...I bought my Sennheiser CX 300 earphones as a replacement for my iPhone and iPod earphones last year. I feel that the standard issue Apple 'phones are severely lacking when it comes to sound quality, with a very tinny and shallow feel, and are now little more than a fashion accessory. Personally, when I listen to my music I wanted a richer sound, where I can appreciate the artists' work more...
I have to say that the sound quality from this compact Sennheiser product really blew me away in comparison. They are advertised as having a 'bass-driven' sound, which is an area where I feel the Apple products were lacking, and their claims prove to be true. Not only are the deeper bass notes of my music more powerful and clear, but I can hear background melodies and small intricacies which I had never picked up before except when listening...
