SPF 45, cheap sun protection lotion.

Advantages: Cheap, good quality.
Disadvantages: Hard to find.

...I am reviewing SPF 45 not SPF 8 as in the picture, Ciao will not/cannot accept new product proposals at the moment so this seems to be the only way of doing this. I know some of you will gleefully 'jump' on this as being in the wrong place, go ahead, feel free. Surprisingly Ciao also do not ask at the bottom if it is SPF 45, they only go up to SPF 30, c'mon Ciao, sort it out, people are leaving in droves. Never heard of No-Ad products? sun creams for vampires.

Advantages: easy to apply, nice smell
Disadvantages: bad packaging, not hypo-allergenic

...that you should reapply sun cream frequently, especially after swimming (or more to the point, after rubbing it all off with the towel). Apparantly, also you should apply the cream liberally for better protection against UVA, regardless of the sun protection factor, or how much you want to tan! Finally sun-creams deteriorate with age – I read once that the protection factor halves for every year, so presumably year-old factor 12 is as good as factor 6 – so don’t keep them too long. I use so much that I don’t really have a problem with that though! While I'm on the science - if you are also sun sensitive you should avoid the sun between 12 and 4pm and wear proper UV protection sunglasses and a hat. Nivea Sun Lotion for Children

Advantages: Great product, nice smell, lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if bought singularly

...of the bottle has the usage instructions and a long list of ingredients. The cream comes in the following SPF's: 25, 40 and 50+.The cream also allows your child to play in the water for 80-120 minutes without needing to reapply, but I would still reapply it more regularly just to be safe. It also contains Vitamin E to help combat free radicals & premature skin ageing. Nivea also do a BABY Sun Lotion which is SPF 50+ which has been specially developed for sensitive baby skin. The children's lotion also comes in a spray, which I am yet to try. I would definitely recommend this sun cream. If you buy on an offer as I did, it works out at quite good value, and it seems to provide great protection. I even use it on myself and I haven't yet used even half a bottle! ...I have sensitive dry skin so have to be very careful about what products I use. When it comes to cleansing my face I really like to use water as I feel I have actually washed, unlike when I use cleansing creams! I have tried several products that claim to be for sensitive skins over the years but have found many of these leave my skin feeling dry and tight at best and sometimes I have been left with a red irritated skin. I was given a bottle of Elemis sensitive cleansing wash by a close friend who also has sensitive skin and finds this perfect for her skin. Elemis sensitive cleansing wash is not cheap. Vaseline hand and nail lotion - sensitive enough for my eczema

Advantages: Good value, not slimy or sticky, soft hands
Disadvantages: Quite runny, packaging not perfect, not an intensive moisturiser

...I have very sensitive hands which have suffered from eczema all my life, they are constantly dry and itchy, so I have to be extremely careful about what products I use on my skin. I normally moisturise my hands every time I wash my hands, before bed, in the morning and other time throughout the day, so moisturiser is very important to me. Advantages: Really works and hydrates your skin - so no peeling

...After the brief few days of sun we had last week I made the fatal mistake of falling asleep in the sun in my back garden and as you can guess I got sun burnt, I didn?t really have any sun cream etc in the house so popped down to Tesco?s to see what I could get my hands on only to discover one of the best after sun lotions I have ever used. Tesco's Finest After Sun Lotion was on offer for half price so i though that I would purchase it and give it ago and I can honestly say that it worked. Packaging It comes in a blue 200ml pump bottle which is blue in colour with little stars on it. Product: The bottle says that it rehydrates your skin for 12 hours, contains antioxidants, nourishes, soothes and calms your skin, and it did exactly that for me. No mess sunscreen for kids

Advantages: Very easy to apply with no mess

...While I was struggling with a stroppy 18 month old trying to apply the green spray on suncream without getting all her clothes, my clothes and my furniture green my friend casually got the sunscreen stick out of her bag and said haven't you got one of these? No, I didn't have one of those but now I do! You still need cream for large areas of skin to cover over i.e. arms legs etc. But this is fantastic for faces, ears, nose, neck, toes. Its looks just like a pritt stick glue stick! you apply it in the same way and it is blue so you can see where you have applied it. You do have to rub it in a bit or you get blue blobs left. It is the same size as a pritt stick so it's very easy to take out with you, it slips in my handbag very easily (even my ultra small compact handbag!!) It is a bit greasy compared with other sunscreens...

This is one of the products I have used before when in the sun, and Piz Buin being one of my preferred makes, I know I will probably like this. WHAT IT DOES... This offers SPF 10 which is considered low but which I find is fine for my first week or so in the sun. It is UVA/UVB with helioplex which apparently provides photostable broad spectrum protection, whatever that is! It also contains Vitamin E which the information on the back of the bottle tells me will neutralise free radicals which cause premature skin ageing. The lotion is also water and sweat resistant, whcih is a claim most of these kind of products make but one which I am not entirely sure of. PRODUCT AND PACKAGING... Boots Soltan Sun Care Lotion - SPF50+

Advantages: High protection and mostly reliable
Disadvantages: Sometimes hard to get just the right amount

...I spent 6 weeks in California this June and July, so went prepared with lots of sun cream as I'm known to burn easily - especially my face, shoulders, and feet. I chose SPF 50+ from the Boots Soltan range, as it was cheaper than the same SPF in other brands (on BOGOFF at the time) and offered the highest SPF available. I also took Boots Soltan After sun with me, but that's a separate review. ~ - ~ Soltan ~ - ~ Soltan is the Boots own brand sun cream and as such is only available from Boots stores. The sun protection products are in yellow/orange bottles and the after sun range is in a 'cooling' blue color. There are both Lotions and Sprays available, and also several variations of the basic sun cream - kids, baby, wasp and insect repellent, extra tanning, and some others. I used the original kind.
