Slow and steady...Gordons Sloe GIN...

Advantages: Taste's sweet, refreshing, very moreish.
Disadvantages: very moreish...lol

...Gin is Gin right ? WRONG !! Recently I was introduced by a friend to Gordon's sloe gin, something I have never come across though brings to mind the Flavoured Absolut vodkas which are also really nice. It's the same kind of thing but Gin. I gave it a try (nope it didn't take much persuasion I like my spirits) and well - it's a really GREAT drink. The bottle is same as your regular screw top Gordon's Gin bottle but clear not green, the gin itself is a pretty deep-purple-red berry colour though still a clear spirit, not cloudy.. There is a faint pleasant smell of fruitiness along with the normal 'gin' smell, yes I always smell drinks before drinking?..still gin taste but there's also the definite fruity flavour of berries, it's sweet with a nice aftertaste?a bit moreish All this yummy tastiness is down to the sloe berries...

"Gordon's Alive?"

Advantages: Brian Blessed's in it shouting "DIVE" alot! And it's got the best soundtrack to a film... ever!
Disadvantages: Maybe to camp and colourful for some. Avoid if you lack a sense of humour or are looking for something high-brow.

...FLASH GORDON "Flash - a-ah - saviour of the universe. Flash - a-ah - he'll save every one of us." Or so the Queen soundtrack goes over the comic-book enriched title credits (something Spiderman 2 would later borrow). It serves to get the audience's toes immediately tapping in anticipation for the film to begin outright and, for some bizarre reason, coupled with the spandex pants, phallic shaped spaceships, an over-developed sense for bright, garish colours and Brian Blessed shouting "DIVE" to his birdman hordes whenever he gets the chance, Flash Gordon comes across as a deliriously brilliant, camp piece of outrageous space opera cinematics. Indeed, with these hallmarks, it's impossible to imagine a movie that's more innocently entertaining (only Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure seems to usurp Flash Gordon to such a title...

Gordon Ramsay at Claridges

Advantages: Beautiful food, location and staff
Disadvantages: Expensive

...on Claridges Bar and the Gordon Ramsay restaurant as these were the two that we visited when we went there. Upon entering the hotel I was actually in awe of just how beautiful it is. It has a very elegant, sumptuous look to it with very clean lines and grand features. The Claridges Bar is situated in the Foyer Area. The style of the bar is a modern Art Deco look, think very lounge bar, dimly lit etc. There are quite a few tables to sit at with big comfy leather chairs and then there is also a round leather bar with mirror behind it which you can sit at on bar stools. There is a huge chandelier in the centre of the bar which is truly exquisite! We sat at the bar and immediately there was something offering to take our coats and to serve us a drink. The thing that most impressed me about Claridges was the level of service that we received. It...

FREE DVDs

Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review

...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them. ∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊ Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Gordon's sloe gin - smooth and tasty

Advantages: Tasty, easier than making it yourself
Disadvantages: Pricey

...With the weather turning chilly and the first frosts arriving, it is once again the right time of year to go sloe gathering and make sloe gin. But for lazy people like me who don't want to risk poisoning themselves by picking the wrong little purple hedgerow fruit, there is always the option of buying some ready-made. Plus it has the advantage that you don't have to wait months for your hard work to come to fruition. As well as their regular green bottle of regular gin, Gordon's also have a sloe version costing £16.99 for a 70cl bottle, it is rather a lot more expensive than your typical gin. Plus at only 26% vol, it is much lower in alcohol content, meaning that per unit of alcohol, it is pretty pricey. The bottle The bottle is fairly similar to their regular version, but with different brand colouring - purple instead of green...

Nissan Serena LX 2.0D 1993

Advantages: Cheap 8 seater, massive load space with seats folded,
Disadvantages: sluggish especially on hills,

...remove the head rests, this is optional but ours have been damaged by not doing so, these then fold forward and thats it. A load area that will impress even the most ardent Serena hater! The engine noise is pronounced when driving and due to its positioning under the front area can be warm in summer. This also makes checking the oil level slightly cumbersome as the dipstick is under the passenger seat and the oil cap under the drivers, however as it doesn't leak oil then this hasn't been too much of a nuisance and you can soon get the system for lifting the seats down to a fine art. The actual drive is quite firm with a Galaxy owning friend impressed by the lack of body roll during cornering. The progress of the car is best described as stately, you will reach top speeds (70-80) eventually, however this has to be done in the inside lane...

I'm Gordon

Advantages: Nice illustrations and story line
Disadvantages: None

...Gordon in Charge A book about a bossy goat and what happens when he won't give up his authority! STORY AND ILLUSTRATIONS The story centres around Gordon the bossy goat, and indeed we meet him on the first page, with his mouth wide open shouting orders and instructions at the sheep cows and hens. Unfortunately for Gordon the goat, there is a new addition to the farm in the form of Gordon the goose. The meeting is not a pleasant one, with Gordon the goat showing his displeasure and the goose honking his displeasure. Gordon the goat decides that he is in charge, so the goose will have to change his name. They begin a battle to prove who can keep the other animals in order. Gordon the goose suggests that they swim across the pond and whoever wins is in charge. Of course, the goat ends up a soggy goat, so he challenges the goose...

Gordon Ramsay's Fast Food

Advantages: Great easy recipes
Disadvantages: You might not have all the ingredients !

...I have been lacking time and inspiration latley so I thought It?s about time I got back into the swing of things, I thought what can I do and this book was staring me in the face as I have been using the recipes for the last two months ! The book is Gordon Ramsay?s fast food and is no doubt the best cooking book I have ever bought. I wanted to make something different from my usual things and as Gordon is my favourite chef on TV I thought I would try this book out. The front of the book has a picture of Gordon on a black background with bright neon lettering on the front. Just inside the book states that it is divided into short sections with 15 features of fast recipes such as starters, soups, fish, meat, pasta, working lunches, deserts etc and 15 menus for everyday entertaining. It also states that the dishes can all be cooked...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...
