Remington S9810 Genius Straighteners... not so Genius really!

Advantages: A digital display and the option to change the temperature.
Disadvantages: Poor quality and a horribly expensive price tag.

In the night garden ninky nonk train set

Advantages: strong, versatile, compact, nice bright colours, fun to play with

...I decided to buy the in the night garden ninky nonk train set from Amazon as my young daughter is a big fan of in the night garden and whenever it comes on TV she gets really excited. So as my daughter already had some of the other characters from the show I wanted her to have the whole set and since buying it the train set the ninky nonk train set has become one of her favourite toys to play with on a daily basis. The train set can come apart and be attached on many different ways and my daughter enjoys looking at the nice bright colours and putting some of the other in the night garden characters onto the train set even though it keeps falling of now and again it keeps her busy and sometimes I hear her in fits of giggles. The train set is very cute and versatile and its great as children such as mine can have hours of fun with it...

...With wavy hair, I haven't got ringlets to iron out, so the lower temperature settings on the Remington S9000 were perfect for me. To perfect styles, the higher temperatures work alright. The Remington S9000s aren't the best straighteners I have ever owned, after a year of use I can tell the difference between brand new and well used; unlike the GHD's I owned for 2 years! The smooth plates are kind to my hair, but with hairspray can become sticky - like most hair straighteners. The Remington S9000s are also quite difficult to programme to the right temperature, a simple 'hot' or 'cool' setting would have worked perfectly, but its like using a clothes iron on your hair! The Remington S9000s are also quite heavy, unlike the GHD's, so even though they straighten out my waves for a good few hours, I wouldn't recommend them to people...

...I own remington straighteners and I personally would recommend then. my hair has a natural kink and is very wavey and when i use the straighteners my hair becomes poker straight. They do become very very hot because there is no heat settings which is an advantage really with my type of hair as with other straighteners i have used it takes a while to do my hair, but with remingtons the time spent doing your hair decreases. As they do get very hot a concern to many people is that they will be burn your hair I have never burnt my hair using remingtons. They are very easy to use as all you do is plug them in. I have noticed that your not waiting ages for them to heat up they heat up very quickly which is good for people who are in a rush. ...was attracted to the Hai stick is because it has a digitally controllable heat setting (which GHD' s do not have). If you're interested in the hai stik read starsally's excellent review on it. The price however, was too much for me again. Overall, the take home message from the popular GHD is that they are fine when they work but they do break and this fact is backed up by the fact that GHD only give the consumer a 1-year warranty. If a manufacturer was really sure about the durability of their product they would offer a warranty of at least 2 years which is not uncommon on electrical personal use items. Remington on the other hand give a substantial 3 year warranty and no manufacturer would give such a generous warranty if they were not sure of their product, would they? REMINGTON 2X PROTECTION

Advantages: Heat up very fast.
Disadvantages: People assume they're not as good as GHD.

...The particular model that I am refering to in this review, are the Remington S1002 slim ceramic Teflon coated model. I originally bought these because they were only £35, assuming that they would just about do the job, as I really could not justify paying £100 for GHD straighteners. I thought that GHDs were just a craze, I must admit, it is a craze that has lasted, but I feel they have an unjustified high status. After using these straighteners for the first time, Iknew that I had bought the right ones. Myhair is kind of frizzy, but also quite oily, (that's hairdresser talk for greasy!). ...Out of the many makes of straightners out there i can tell you now that this make is a must to get if you are looking for the best. They can remove any kind of curl or frizz, from the frizziest of hair to the curliest of hair types no matter how thick. I should know i 'v had trouble with buying the right straightners in the past which have been unable to cope with my hair. The Remington S-9901 do what they say 'straighten'. It has an adjustable temerature setting ranging from 140-230, whichtakes only 6 seconds to heat up. Also has automatic turn off if left on. Has an extra lond lead with the added bonus of a swivel connection to the straightners, which makes them a lot easier to move whilst styling. Came with a heat proof bag and mat with hair clips. For value of money, I would say they are worth it....

...I have this straightner and it is JUST AS GOOD as GHD! It makes my hair shiny, it hasnt damaged it much at all, you can also curl with it, however it straightens better tbh. Its sleek design and glides through your hair easily. However, my hair is naturally very straight but i do have a serious cows lick under my fringe n it straightners it out easily! The heat settings is great for what type of hair you have, i usually have it on its highest because i am in a rush in the morning and it takes less time! The wire is SO long which is great for walking around with when doing your hair! It also has a swivel cable so you dont get any restrictions.
