LOST IN SPAIN...
Advantages: BEAUTIFUL PLACE - UNSPOILED - TRANQUIL - CLIMATE
Disadvantages: SOMETIMES UNKEPT - NEEDS A BIT OF GOVERNMENT MONEY SPENDING ON IT!
...Well, I’m writing this on New Years Eve, in the office, but totally bored as none of my customers are in their offices so I can’t phone them to chase them for their missing adverts…*sigh*
Anyway, my thoughts turned to holidays, like they do at times like this!!
In 2002 I went to Seville, Spain. I have traveled quite a bit but not really in Europe much so I didn’t know what to expect. Seville is a beautiful town – very unspoiled. If you’re looking for the ‘real Spain’ I suggest Seville and we went at an excellent time weatherwise – not too hot or cold.
We spent 5 days there in May 2002, at the Hotel San Gil – this is a 4 star hotel, where most of the rooms are suites, sadly we had one of the very few double rooms there.
They serve breakfast and ‘bar snacks...

Sevilla: the City of Oranges and much more
Advantages: Architectural beauty; fantastic weather; great food; beautiful people...
Disadvantages: Very few
...Sevilla... the word is almost as beautiful as the city itself. I have been fortunate enough to experience quite a few places across the globe, and I could count on the fingers of one hand (and I could probably afford to be missing a few fingers) the number of places that have left more of an impression on me than Sevilla. I visited in the summer before I came to university, on an itinerary that took in the usual tourist hotspots in Andalucia; Granada, Cordoba, Cadiz, and so on.
The whole atmosphere was one that I found particularly intoxicating; you are constantly immersed in grand architecture, of which the Real Alcazar and the Catedral (the pillars of which remind me of that scene in Moria in the Lord of the Rings where the hordes of goblins start swarming down from the ceiling) are paradigmatic examples. The weather is...

Where were the oranges ?
Advantages: Full of history, Lots to see and do,a beautiful City
Disadvantages: Can be very hot, you will need plenty of money to spend.
...This review is an overview of Seville and is meant as a taster which hopefully will encourage you to visit.
My Hubby and myself recently had a two week vacation in the Algarve , Portugal. We took our fist trip to Spain ever, travelling from our base in Albufeira, by coach to Seville. The journey was not too bad and we had 4 hours free-time in Seville. It was however about 4 hours travelling time there and the same back. Much of the coach journey was fairly uninspiring as the countryside, as we travelled through Portugal, and then across Spain, was simply fields , a few trees and nothing particularly pretty or spectacular. We had to take our passports with us but we were not stopped as we crossed the bridge over the Guardiana River and entered Spain.
One thing we did notice as we made a journey break at the roadside services was...

Have a fietsa in Seville!
Advantages: great bars and tourist attractions
Disadvantages: too hot in summer
...Seville is set in the heart of Andaluicia, in the south of Spain.
At first glance, it is filled with the usual touristy shops and attractions, but there is a lot more to it. The residents are are really laid-back. Like clockwork, the city shuts down every afternoon, for a long siesta. People gather in the Plazas for a bit of drinking and partying before catching a couple of hours sleep before the evening hits in. Shops stay open until 9pm-10pm. As everything has is relatively cheap, compared to the UK, you can really induldge in retail therapy.
Nightlife:
Seville is filled with fantastic bars, where you can grab some tapas, soak up some live spanish music, and meet the locals.
Nightclubs are a little on the chessy side - expect to see a lot of salsa.... To see Seville at its best, its worth sticking just to bars. There are...

a wonderful place
Advantages: sights, sun, pretty streets, tapas bars,
Disadvantages: very hot
...very interesting and a good way to experience a part of Spanish culture without having to witness a bull fight (most bull fights are on during April and May in Seville). The Real Alcazar is well worth a visit. The beautiful gardens are as stunning as the Palace itself. If I had known I would have taken my lunch and a book and enjoyed the gardens with lunch! And as you exit the Real Alcazar you enter the square full of orange trees (although these are abundant in Sevilla). I would recommend taking a Spanish phrase book as not many people speak English - which I enjoyed, actually feeling like I was on holiday. Although not as cheap as other parts of Spain I didn't feel Seville was overpriced. The sight seeing was definitely good value with most sights being less than 10 euros. I did not rush round Seville but spend 6 days and nights taking in...

SEVILLE - Lived there, spent holidays there and keep going back!
Advantages: Beautiful, cultural and historic city with attractions and shopping for everyone
Disadvantages: To hot to visit during July/August
...Seville is, to me, the most beautiful city in Spain. However, one must remember I have lived there twice and spent a great deal of time on holidays there.
The Seville people are friendly, fun loving, family orientated, proud and loud ! Nothing in Seville is done by halves, wether it be the annual ¨Semana Santa¨(easter) parades where various statues worth millions and weighing tons are carried around the streets on the shoulders of devoted followers, stopping as someone from a balcony begins to sing, to the ´Feria De Abri´ when Seville celebrates the coming of Spring. Thousands of spanish and tourists visit the Feria (fair) ground daily, from tiny toddlers dressed in traditional flamenco type dresses, to proud dancing horses either pulling carriages or single horses passing from tent to tent with their riders and ladies in colourful...

A beautifull walk near San Jose Spain
Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: you really need a car
...A pretty cove and a beautiful walk near San José Spain
We went on holiday to San José in Almeria Spain this Easter hols. This is a description of one of the best bays/beaches we found and a good coastal walk.
We used the tourist hiking map Capo de Gata-Nijar (1:50.000 same scale as an standard OS map here) which we bought from the tourist information in San José, it comes with an accompanying book about the routes marked on the map. It also contained information about camping, apartments and other local information in Spanish. Dearly beloved can read some Spanish and I found I could follow a lot of the instructions fairly simply, you may be able to get an English copy. I will check this out .We found this a very good map and guide I would certainly recommend it.
One morning we set out in our hire car, with a loaf of bread, some...

A taste of Spain
Advantages: Nice weather, pretty cheap
Disadvantages: Almost like being home because of a large Norwegian community
...A short summary
My wife Nikki and I went on a trip to Albir right north of Benidorm in Spain in the period August 27th to September 5th 2004. We went together with our friends Olav and Allis and their two kids. During our stay we got a chance to drive around a little bit, visit the theme park Terra Mittica, the water park Aqualandia, drink some good Spanish red wine etc. I hope that this short trip report can be of some use to others that are going to the same destination. Get in touch if you have any questions or comments :-) Please check my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com if you want to see more pictures from the trip.
Prelude
When I was young I remember that we had some family friends that were going on vacation to Spain. At that time it seemed so exotic at least compared to our road trips around Norway. Well, over the years...

Barcelona Spain Catalonia
Advantages: Lot to do and see, coastline of beaches, and lots of good shops to the expensive to the cheap.
Disadvantages: metro underground gets busy in the paek seasons, but all places have easy access and are walkable
...Barcelona? Why Not ?
One of the most beautiful cities in Europe
Barcelona Spain is one of the biggest influences that has ever been met, there is everything that you could desire there, from a walk to the park to the beaches to the night life the Music festivals, the Tapas, the coast and the shops, it is endless, Barcelona is a place of opportunity with its beautiful buildings and history, a short stay would never be enough to cover all there are numbers of attractions, The main street La Rambla is amazing with its flower stalls which give the la rambla a gorgeous array of color and .flavor There are pet stalls with baby rabbits, turtles , terrapins, birds and all childrens furry friends, with souvenir store's and high street shops on the road side restaurants are also on the la rambla where you can sit and watch all...
