Olympus SP-560 UZ

Advantages: compact, light, good features, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: colours can appear dull, especially in low light conditions

Canon i560 - Top Quality Printing at Budget Prices

Advantages: Superb quality, low running costs...
Disadvantages: Bit bulky? None really...

...I purchased my Canon i560 printer and spare cartridges for it from the wonderful ebuyer.com for the bargain price of around £100. I'd recommend shopping around though if you intend to buy one. Although this initially seems like quite a bit for mid-range inkjet, you must bear in mind that the cartridges are simply ink tanks and can be found for around £3 each per colour. Also the ink lasts for ages so this works out a very cheap printer to run. I bought it in replacement of my old Epson Stylus 680, a hideous printer which was unreliable, not particularly good quality and cost an absolute fortune to run thanks to its 'chipped' cartridges. But thats a whole other story. The i560 is an attractive enough looking machine, although sadly sticks with the usual beige colour scheme which may not fit in with some more modern systems. Its...

...A few days back i went to a electronics store where a couple of weeks we carried out special discounts on certain electronics products, so read a leaflet came into our possession. Obviously we were concerned only to purchase a small digital camera from being used to give my boys, so we should not purchase more than a specified amount and the car should not be complicated to use ... Upon arrival in ward specific we look around and the camera that had drawn our attention to the flyer there seemed little in its features and capabilities .... and in the end, even though we spent a little 'more than what we had established in departure, namely 159.00 euros, we chose the PowerShot A560 .... and even now I will tell you why! Review of Canon PowerShot A560

The Canon i560, a hard act to follow.

Advantages: Fast, Quiet, Economical, Stunning quality, PictBridge interface
Disadvantages: Cannot print CDs, Flimsy output tray

...560 uses the same cartridges that go back to several previous models and that makes them readily available from virtually anywhere in the universe. It takes the larger capacity BCI-3eBK black cartridge and seperate cartridges for each colour BCI-6C/Y or M respectively and these are a decent capacity too. The original cartridges are pricey-ish but the capacity is OK. generics of decent quality are readily available for about £2.00 a piece as opposed about £7.00 for originals. Go to choicestationery.com for the best prices. The i560 prints borderless photos and the quality is indistiguishable from a so-called photo-printer. The latter using another 2 extra cartridges. I defy anyone to tell the difference. One really usefull extra is the "PictBridge" capability that allows PictBridge enabled cameras to print directly to the printer...

LG L226WTQ-SF: a five star widescreen monitor.

Advantages: 22", Widescreen, good looking, excellent image quality, good moving image
Disadvantages: No height adjustment, erm... it wasn't free?

..., using my TV card and playing the odd action game. Over the months, I had selected and discounted probably around half a dozen monitors for various reasons. Finally, I came across a range of LG widescreen TFT monitors on eBuyer that looked suitable. The L226WTQ-SF stood out due to its 3000:1 contrast ratio (the ratio of the brightest and darkest images a display can reproduce), but that wasn't the only good feature. The specs quoted a 2 ms response time (the amount of time the display takes to change from transparent to opaque), which was important to me, though unimportant if all you do is office work and surf the internet. Monitor Set up Setting up was a breeze. All I really had to do was just plug the provided cable into my graphics card and boot the PC. The monitor came with two cables, one for each type...

The pricing of normal titles in the club magazine is reasonable (around £10 for a club edition hardback) bearing in mind that fantasy and SF is a niche market and most of the titles won't be top 10 bestsellers which would result in major retailers reducing them by 50%. Slightly older stock will be sold at reduced prices ocasionally e.g. 2 books for £16 P&P is around £3 no matter how many books are ordered and I have found the best way round this is to ask friends if they want anything from the magazine, thereby increasing the size of the order...
