Makati Shangri-la is one of the most popular hotels in Metro Manila and is often chosen as the preferred residence of most foreign dignitaries and executives visiting the country. The moment you step into the lobby, you could already feel why it is given a five-star status. The lobby itself is impressive with its spiral staircase and huge chandelier hanging on top of a beautifully-designed floral centerpiece. However, some may find it a bit imposing. Shangri la ( Dubai) , EXQUISITE

Advantages: great location from which to explore Dubai. complimentary bus service.
Disadvantages: beach is a bus ride away.

...We stayed at this 5 star deluxe hotel for a week in October. We have stayed in a Shangri-La hotel before (in Penang, Malaysia) so knew beforehand it was going to be an excellent hotel. The hotel opened in July 2003 ? so everything inside was brand new. It is about 200 metres tall and has 43 storeys. we booked this hotel as part of a package. It cost £100 a night for a premier room. We dont normally spend so much, however it was our first year wedding anniversary . Sheikh Zayed Road is the business, commercial and financial area of Dubai. EDSA SHANGRI-LA HOTEL - A Garden Oasis in the middle of the City

Shangri La Heaven

Advantages: Beautiful rooms and fantastic view of Harbour Bridge and Opera House

...My husband and I stayed at the Shangri La in Sydney in March 2005. As I was 4 months pregnant we thought we would treat ourselves to a final blowout holiday before children began swallowing all our spare cash! The Shangri La did not disappoint us. Our huge bedroom was absolutely sumptuous. Beautifully and stylishly decorated with silk wall hangings and a fantastic view over the harbour bridge and opera house from our floor to ceiling windows. We decided to have room service for dinner a couple of evenings as we would have been hard pressed to find a restaurant that offered such a fantastic setting. Two weeks in the Shangri La

Advantages: Good location, good service & helpful staff
Disadvantages: Poor after service

...We stayed in the Shangri La for 2 weeks in April 2006. I travelled with my family and we shared 2 rooms looking over the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. We arrived on our first day in Sydney and were really impressed with the hotel and its location looking out onto the Opera House and Bridge. i would recommend paying the extra as it was great waking up to the view every morning. The location is ideal for getting to the Circular Quay and all the really nice restaurants & bars. It is only a 5 minute walk so you dont need to take a taxi. The main shopping area is only a 10 - 15 minute walk away. The rooms were really nice with large marble bathrooms and large wardrobes containing a safe (which I will come onto later!). The service we received was very good for example helping book trips and finding an emergency dentist...

Shangri La - silky smooth skin

It took a while for me to get used to the smell; I love Lush and think everything smells delicious but, for some strange reason, this just didn\'t do it for my nose at first. ...About 2 weeks ago I returned from a trip to China with my family. We stayed at the 5* Shangri La hotel in Beijing, and it was absolutely incredible. Upon arrival (to a large glass fronting with revolving doors and more than 5 doormen), car doors were opened, bags were taken from us, and we were given a slip that would enable our luggage to be taken up once we had checked in. The staff were SO polite and friendly, giving their best at english (which made me feel rather ashamed and ignorant i had not bothered to learn chinese). Upon checkin, the staff (2 young girls and a man), were curteous and polite, and even went to the point of joking when a family member said he wouldnt take the lift because he had a phobia. ...the world ! I was directed to 'Skin's Shangri La' by a lush sales person when I asked for a moisturiser that was most suitable for mature skin as I am 38. One of the ingredients is fresh wheatgrass which is said to be rejuvenating and almond oil, jojoba oil,seaweed,evening primrose coconut and wheatgerm oils to name a few are said to be revitalising. The scent is warm and relaxing and unlike anything else i,ve had experience of. The wheatgerm, almond, vanilla and violet absolute give a wholesome ice creamy smell which i associate with calmness. The cream is not specifically a day or night cream and can be used for both. Its texture is such that it can be applied under make up without feeling clogged up but its rich enough for night time.
