Sharm el-Sheikh is probably one of the most popular places for people to visit in Egypt and it is certainly the most developed tourist resort. It is situated on the Sinai Peninsula. How Long Does It Take To Get To Sharm? The flight to Sharm takes just over 5 hours from any of the London Airports which isn?t too bad. Sharm Airport We were told before we went on holiday that Sharm airport is really manic but we didn?t find that at all, this could be due to that fact that they had a new terminal open earlier this year. charming sharm

Advantages: diving is excellent
Disadvantages: pushy shop owners

...charming sharm, thats what it says as you enter. this resort is still in major development. security is tight so expect to see guards at the enterance to your hotel. this was a little unnearving at times especially as they all carry guns. many of the hotels are all inclusive which is great as a lot of the restaurants are dubious to say the least. we say meat being cut in the street in the heat of the day! naama bay is the main nightlife/shopping area in sharm. we didnt like it and will avoid next time. the egyptions were very pushy and rude if you didnt visit their shops. i really did want to do some shopping in sharm but struggled greatly. if you get the chance leave the resort and do some trips. any diving trip will be fab - the fish are amazing. the mt sinai trip is amazing but not for the faint hearted - its a 3 hr climb in the dark...

Sharm el Sheikh

Advantages: great weather for just a 5 1/2 hour flight, value for money
Disadvantages: hassle from shopkeepers

...I was lucky enough to visit Sharm for free in March this year - one of the perks of being a travel agent is we occasionally get 'fam trips' which means we are taken to a destination and shown around numerous hotels and the sights so that we are able to sell it confidently when back home. These trips are really beneficial, and I think I certainly appreciate them more now I am self employed. So there was a group of about 10 of us and we visited about 6 hotels each day getting the full tour, camera and notebook in hand. I must admit the company we went with - Med Hotels - had a lot of clout in Sharm and we were treated like royalty wherever we went. In hindsight I suppose this may have given me a rose tinted view of the place as everything was done for us, we even got fastracked through the aiport avoiding the dreaded queue. Med Hotels...

  Sharm el Shiekh - Dive in

Advantages: Weather, diving, friendliness, hotel stds and price
Disadvantages: Adjusting to Arab culture and being pestered

...I have recently returned from Naama Bay in Sharm el Shiekh which could possibly be the best value dive resort in the world. This review is actually of Naama Bay the area itself and what it has to offer. I must quantify this by stating that the diving/snorkelling is my own personal experience. Personally I could never just go and lie on a beach for more than an hour or two (and 2 hours would need a very very good book!). The 'bucket and spade brigade' info is feedback from friends I have recommended this resort to. I have been there 13 times and plan to continue going back. I know, there are many people (including myself before I went there) who cannot imagine going back to the same resort but Naama Bay really is different.............................. ...I have travelled to Sharm El Sheikh twice in the past 2 years and can be a very enjoyable place if you get as much information about the place before you go especially your HOTEL. It is definitly worth looking through many hotels before making any desicion, like the saying goes 'never judge a book by its cover' and this is true when looking at hotels as some of the best looking hotels can be the worst in Egypt. It is also important to find out about the food served at your hotel especially if you have children. The food is usually the same every night with the odd dishes being different so it is worth considering and putting money aside to eat out because if you are quite an adventurous eater, it can get boring! Travelling outside of your hotel can seem quite scary and a challenge but excursions can be great fun. For example...

Sharm el Melt!

...My girlfriend and I took a two week break to Sharm mid-July this year, flying from East Midlands Airport the flight took a little under 6 hours. Upon arrival to the airport we were informed that the airport was a Military Airport and reps were not allowed inside the building, this scared us a little. After getting off the plane we were greeted by guards with rifles who escourted us to the arrivals desk where we were pursuaded to buy Visas for about £15 each. Take note, you will only need a visa if you intend to leave Sharm ie visit pyramids, visit bedouin town. After collecting our luggage which did arrive very quickly we took the short trip to the coaches outside where we were met by our rep, along the way were asked by locals if we wished to use trolleys to take out luggage for a charge of £2 (our luggage had wheels! ...We visited Sharm El Sheikh last year which is Egypts well known Red Sea resort.The food was fantastic,local dishes are a must to try.Sea food is a speciality,lobster and crayfish are hlaf the price they are in England.Also due to the favpurable exchange rate eating out is very cheap indeed,depending on where you go.You will surprisingly find mcdonalds,kfc and pizza hut as well if you really miss that processed junk food from home. The snorkelling is absoloutely unmissable,you can take a diving course if you wish but we just found that snorkelling off of the beach was equally fantastic.If you are staying b and b in your hotel,take a bag to breakfast and put a few bread rolls in it and sneak off to feed the fish whilst you snorkel!Mind those parrott fish though,They have a huge coral breaking beak,so fingers are no problem. Lying on a beach of serenity for hours, playing football in nothing more than Speedos and dancing the night away, with just dotted palm trees for shade. Paradise?
