...This is First Choice Resort hotel on an all inclusive meal plan. I went there with my partner, elder son (12) and my youngest (1). We got a taxi from the airport cost 100 EYGP, negotiate before taking one. We organised one through the hotel. Fab hotel. We'd never done all inclusive before, so the rugby scrum at meal times took a little getting used to at first. There's food for every taste in the main restaurant but I would recommend you get there early doors. The BBQ on a Sunday night is wonderful. The Mermaid at lunch time is a good alternative and the burgers are great. Italian not worth the visit and neither the Mermaid in the evening, which you have to pay extra for.   The Charm Of Sharm

Advantages: Friendly locals, nice beaches, family orientated, hot, good for diving
Disadvantages: Some of the locals can be pushy, sunburn!

...charming sharm, thats what it says as you enter. this resort is still in major development. security is tight so expect to see guards at the enterance to your hotel. this was a little unnearving at times especially as they all carry guns. many of the hotels are all inclusive which is great as a lot of the restaurants are dubious to say the least. we say meat being cut in the street in the heat of the day! naama bay is the main nightlife/shopping area in sharm. we didnt like it and will avoid next time. the egyptions were very pushy and rude if you didnt visit their shops. i really did want to do some shopping in sharm but struggled greatly. if you get the chance leave the resort and do some trips. any diving trip will be fab - the fish are amazing. the mt sinai trip is amazing but not for the faint hearted - its a 3 hr climb in the dark...

  Sharm el Shiekh - Dive in

...I have recently returned from Naama Bay in Sharm el Shiekh which could possibly be the best value dive resort in the world. This review is actually of Naama Bay the area itself and what it has to offer. I must quantify this by stating that the diving/snorkelling is my own personal experience. Personally I could never just go and lie on a beach for more than an hour or two (and 2 hours would need a very very good book!). The 'bucket and spade brigade' info is feedback from friends I have recommended this resort to. I have been there 13 times and plan to continue going back. I know, there are many people (including myself before I went there) who cannot imagine going back to the same resort but Naama Bay really is different.............................. Once a small fisher village it has grown now into a full resort with loads of hotels, almost every known hotel chain is present here. Diving and snorkelling are most obvious, the Red Sea is a paradise for underwater sports. The stunning coral reefs and hundreds of fish species struck me as a first time diver, and I was really overwhelmed. We booked an introductory dive with the Ocean College Dive Center (with offices at the Ocean Bay Hotel), and went to many different snorkelling trips (go to the Tiran islands and Ras Mohammed National Park - wonderful long reefs along the beach, but be aware of the sometimes strong currents). Advantages: great weather for just a 5 1/2 hour flight, value for money
Disadvantages: hassle from shopkeepers

...and MST tours were our hosts, the local reps were fantastic and as they are all Egyptian they are very respected by and have a good relationship with the hoteliers. I can totally recommend them as they provide a full rep service in resort, which you don't get most of the time if you book independently. So I knew very little of Sharm and was a bit apprehensive as the closest place I had been was Tunisia and I hated it. But I was so surprised I really did love the place and the highlight for me was the snorkelling, I was totally blown away by it. As well as snorkelling from the hotel's beach (we stayed at the Sultan Gardens) we went on a boat trip to Tiran Island and here we snorkelled in the morning and afternoon and for lunch we had BBQ'd fish that had just been caught for us. On the way back we had the company of a pod of wild dolphins...

The Other Side To Egypt

...My boyfriend and 3 friends have just got back from staying in the Hilton Sharks Bay hotel in Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. This hotel has been awarded 4 * and has 317 rooms. We mainly booked this holiday to complete our PADI open water diving course as The Red Sea is meant to be one of the best places to do this, and we found that it was reasonably priced to stay in the Hilton so off we went? Travel Time from The UK We flew from London Gatwick and our flight took just over 5 hours which I consider to be a relatively short flight to get to somewhere so hot ? not like my last flight which was 16 odd hours! Hauza Resort - overview

We also snorkelled off the pier on the private beach - the snorkelling in Egypt is amazing and I definitely recommend it - you will see hundreds of tropical fish. It really is breathtaking! However once you leave the resort you are staying Sharm El Sheikh as a place can be a little daunting. Naama Bay as a town is filled with Egyptians trying to sell whatever they can and you will get pressured into visiting their shops! The poverty in Egypt is overwhelming and expect to get hassled a lot on your holiday! However Naama Bay isn't all bad - the fake designer handbags in some of the shops are very cheap, and look authentic!
