No Challenge for Sharpe
Advantages: Superbly shot, great casting
Disadvantages: none really!
...ensue!
Despite the fact that over a decade had passed between waterloo and challenge, Sean Bean and Daragh O Malley work together as well as always, complete with their usual humour, and bizarre dignity.
All in all, I was very impressed with the DVD - the extra's aren't great, but you still need to watch them to see whats going on behind the scenes, and its a great overview of how the cast view sharpe.
Technically, it's a very well shot episode (I won't call it a film, its a two parter!), with the set and pyrotechnic effects being fantastically done, the cast are, as always, accurately dressed and armed, and the scenery is uncannily accurate, which you come to expect from this series.
News is, theres another new one in the pipeline, and I'm looking forward to it in the hopes it's up to the same standard...

Sharpe? Its pretty sharp alright!
Advantages: Brilliant casting, well researched
Disadvantages: none!
...Sharpe... I remember seeing this on tv when I was young!
So, when I came across the boxset at half price, I had to have it!
Sharpe is... basically, you're average sargeant in the army who saves wellingtons life from the french, and gets a promotion and a group of surly riflemen to officer at. who really don't like him.
The rest of the story, i'll let you watch and find out for yourself.
Now, this series is based on a set of books by Bernard Cornwell, and these are well worth getting as a companion to the series - it gives you so much more background on Sharpe (Sean Bean).
In the DVD extras you get a disk of sharpes career from the point of view Rifleman Cooper. From his beginnings as a sargeant to the Lt Colonel he ended up as, it covers his missions, women and life in general. On each DVD is the pictures reel...

Sharpe all boxed up
Advantages: To watch again and again, without interruption
Disadvantages: It is repeated on Freeview again and again
...features such as photo galleries, fact files and one bit of behind the scenes. It also comes with a map and a collector's edition booklet. The disks are stored in double DVD cases, with well-presented covers and the whole thing is then put in a nice cardboard box. I personally enjoy watching the series as and when I please, without parts being cut out or adverts in the middle or whatever. But as much as I would recommend the Sharpe Series you need to ask yourself whether you wish to purchase the box set or just wait for it to come round on the TV again....

Sharp's Practices
Advantages: Stylish furniture competently fitted into your bedroom
Disadvantages: Furniture is not of the highest quality.
...Picture it if you will ? it?s the room that was my daughter?s bedroom. She left home many years ago, but somehow there?s still a tennis racquet on top of the wardrobe, a stack of school exercise books in the bookcase and strange pieces of clothing (what can you do with a ra-ra skirt these days?) that are not actually needed where she?s living at the moment but are far too good to throw away, or so she tells me. It?s not too bad when you just close the door on the room, but when an unexpected guest turns up it?s a source of deep embarrassment. Well, you can hardly deny that you?ve got a spare room, can you?
Then came the fateful day. I went into the local town and a Sharp?s Bedrooms showroom had opened. I?d like to say that it was the aesthetics of the window display that drew me inside, but it wasn?t. It was the banner which...

King George commands and we obey
Advantages: Everything - plot, characters, acting, literally everything
Disadvantages: Nothing...if I'm pushed I could possibly say that they are long for single episodes.
...My boyfriend has recently got me completely hooked on the Sharpe series, both in film and in book form, and this was the first of the movies that I saw after becoming fascinated with the books. The two on this DVD are the first two in a series of 16 TV episodes of Sharpe, which when you consider that each episode is 100 minutes long, they would take an awful lot of watching back to back. Although it is the first chronological film, Sharpe's Rifles is not the first chronological novel, which would be Sharpe's Tiger when he starts as a private, but the events described in that book are placed much later in the TV show.

Sharp for squirt
Advantages: Small and light
Disadvantages: Battery life could be longer
...of the IBM thinpad ...
The speaker is on the underside of the notebook so any sound you hear out of the speaker is muted. Surely they could have had the speaker on the topside?
Heat dissipation is not brilliant but okay. It gets really hot on the underside of the notebook and at times, I have to stand the notebook on its side to help heatflow away from the notebook. A cold can of coke against its ventilation on the underside helps too!:)
Customer Support and Instruction Manual
The instruction manual was very easy to read and follow. Although Sharp is a Japanese company, this particular product is targeted for the US market, hence the manual did not seem to go through a translation phrase.
The customer support for Sharp USA were also fantastic. We had problem trying to boot the notebook off the DVD...

My sharps sharp!!
Advantages: the sd card
Disadvantages: blured pictures and battery doesn't last long
...My boyfriend bought me a sharpgx20 and I loved it to bits, unfortunately I left it on the floor one day and he managed to pick me up twirl me round and stand on the phone, whoops, a great big crack going across the screen, I tried using it for a while but I couldn't even read a message on the screen. My boyfriend bought me a nokia 3300 for my birthday which was perfect for ring tones but it didn't have a camera, so it wasn't long before I was back on e-bay to find a new sharp phone. After days of hunting and being out bid I finally got a sharp GX 30i for £75, I'd say it was around a year ago so not a bad price considering they are still about £200 to buy brand new.
When it arrived I was impressed it looked brand new, still had the protective cover on the screen and no scratches what so ever. So off I went to test the camera.
The...

Sharpe's Beginnings
Advantages: An excellent story, good characterisation, enjoyable book
Disadvantages: -
...It's 1799 and young soldier Richard Sharpe and his battalion are preparing for the siege of Seringapatam in India. It's the first time Sharpe will really taste battle as they attempt to topple the Tippoo of Mysore. When a senior officer is captured by the enemy Lieutenant Lawford requests that Sharpe accompany him in a mission within the City to rescue his uncle. For Sharpe this is the ideal way to escape the grasps of his tyrannical Sergeant Hakeswill. It turns out though that Sharpe's problems are just beginning and he has to make certain decisions to aid the British invasion.
This is currently the first novel in Bernard Cornwell's series of books following the adventures of Richard Sharpe. Of course most people will be more familiar with the exploits of Sharpe on ITV starring Sean Bean. Until recently this had been my only...

Razor Sharp
Advantages: small, large screen, easy to use
Disadvantages: short battery life
...I was one of thos kids who grew up using nokias, so when I upgraded to a sharp gx10i a couple of years ago I was at first, understandably, I feel, a bit wary. However, the sharp phones are very easy to use, and the instruction manuals are extremely helpful. I loved my gx10, (especially seeing as it was my first flip-phone), so when I was offered a free upgrade to the gx15 I grudgingly accepted it.
As I am on a vodafone contract I got the gx15 free after having the gx10i for a year. When I received it I instantly fell in love with it, it has all the wonderful aspects of the gx10i, and then improvements on top of it. The first delight of it is the size of the screen. The phone is relatively small, and the manafacturers decided that of the screen and the buttons, they would make the screen larger and the buttons smaller. This decision I...

Indecent Exposure - Tom Sharpe
Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Crude, Lots Of Bad Language
...Indecent Exposure by Tom Sharpe is the sort of Book that you will either love or hate. First Published back in 1973 as a follow up to his Novel "Riotous Assembly" two years earlier this is a Book that has been doing the rounds for many years.
The Story is set in the Town of Piemburg in South Africa and centres around the farcical Character that is Kommandent van Heerden, who is the Town's Chief of Police who has an unhealthy facsination for the English and their way of life. Meanwhile the equally eccentric Lieutenant Verkramp is plotting to undermine the Kommandant and aspires to one day become the Kommandant himself.
The Story is set against the backdrop of South Africa's White middle Class Society. Its Characters, poke fun at the deluded way of life that these Men lead. These people are Racist and Fascist and truly believe that...
