Sharp's Practices

Advantages: Stylish furniture competently fitted into your bedroom
Disadvantages: Furniture is not of the highest quality.

...Picture it if you will ? it?s the room that was my daughter?s bedroom. She left home many years ago, but somehow there?s still a tennis racquet on top of the wardrobe, a stack of school exercise books in the bookcase and strange pieces of clothing (what can you do with a ra-ra skirt these days?) that are not actually needed where she?s living at the moment but are far too good to throw away, or so she tells me. It?s not too bad when you just close the door on the room, but when an unexpected guest turns up it?s a source of deep embarrassment. Well, you can hardly deny that you?ve got a spare room, can you? Then came the fateful day. I went into the local town and a Sharp?s Bedrooms showroom had opened. I?d like to say that it was the aesthetics of the window display that drew me inside, but it wasn?t. It was the banner which...

Razor Sharp

Advantages: small, large screen, easy to use
Disadvantages: short battery life

...I was one of thos kids who grew up using nokias, so when I upgraded to a sharp gx10i a couple of years ago I was at first, understandably, I feel, a bit wary. However, the sharp phones are very easy to use, and the instruction manuals are extremely helpful. I loved my gx10, (especially seeing as it was my first flip-phone), so when I was offered a free upgrade to the gx15 I grudgingly accepted it. As I am on a vodafone contract I got the gx15 free after having the gx10i for a year. When I received it I instantly fell in love with it, it has all the wonderful aspects of the gx10i, and then improvements on top of it. The first delight of it is the size of the screen. The phone is relatively small, and the manafacturers decided that of the screen and the buttons, they would make the screen larger and the buttons smaller. This decision I...

Diamond review  My sharps sharp!!

Advantages: the sd card
Disadvantages: blured pictures and battery doesn't last long

...My boyfriend bought me a sharpgx20 and I loved it to bits, unfortunately I left it on the floor one day and he managed to pick me up twirl me round and stand on the phone, whoops, a great big crack going across the screen, I tried using it for a while but I couldn't even read a message on the screen. My boyfriend bought me a nokia 3300 for my birthday which was perfect for ring tones but it didn't have a camera, so it wasn't long before I was back on e-bay to find a new sharp phone. After days of hunting and being out bid I finally got a sharp GX 30i for £75, I'd say it was around a year ago so not a bad price considering they are still about £200 to buy brand new. When it arrived I was impressed it looked brand new, still had the protective cover on the screen and no scratches what so ever. So off I went to test the camera. The...

Sharpe's Beginnings

Advantages: An excellent story, good characterisation, enjoyable book
Disadvantages: -

...It's 1799 and young soldier Richard Sharpe and his battalion are preparing for the siege of Seringapatam in India. It's the first time Sharpe will really taste battle as they attempt to topple the Tippoo of Mysore. When a senior officer is captured by the enemy Lieutenant Lawford requests that Sharpe accompany him in a mission within the City to rescue his uncle. For Sharpe this is the ideal way to escape the grasps of his tyrannical Sergeant Hakeswill. It turns out though that Sharpe's problems are just beginning and he has to make certain decisions to aid the British invasion. This is currently the first novel in Bernard Cornwell's series of books following the adventures of Richard Sharpe. Of course most people will be more familiar with the exploits of Sharpe on ITV starring Sean Bean. Until recently this had been my only...

Sharp for squirt

Advantages: Small and light
Disadvantages: Battery life could be longer

...I am sitting here in the library typing out a review on one of my latest acquisitions, namely a notebook. Not just any notebook, but the Sharp's Actius MM10 or in the UK, it might be the MM100. I bought this little baby while in the US about a year ago and it has accompanied me since then on all the trips I've taken. It is safe to say that so far, this machine has managed to accomplished all that I needed it to do, well almost all but a little bit of that later. Configuration of Notebook by virtue of importance IMHO 1. Weight This little thing is less than 1 kilogram or 2.1 pounds according to the little sticker on my notebook. I have weighed this on a scale at the airport, to the amusement of the crew at the check-in counter. I do not see the point of lugging a computer...

Sharp as an AQUOS

Advantages: Being gamer oriented ensures high end performance, surround sound, easy to set up.
Disadvantages: Prices are likely to drop quickly after buying - as with all electronic products.

...From the original creator of LCD technology comes another first - a 32" HD-ready 1080p LCD TV. The Sharp Aquos LC-32X20E was purposefully designed with gamers in mind. In addition to ordinarily providing unparalleled picture quality the LC-32X20E may also be optimised for gaming at the touch of a button. It allows for HD-sharpness and a faster response time needed by many gamers. As well as a beautiful, elegant, slim-line design and with exceptional picture and sound quality, the LC-32X20E comes with the easily recognizable piano lacquer-black finish of Sharp's products. Most gamers who own a Play Station 3 or Xbox 360 often do not realise just how much of the processing power and high end graphics capabilities of their consoles are never being revealed. Using its HD-ready 1080p resolution, the 'game mode' of the LC-32X20E ensures...

Sharpe is Furious!

Advantages: Sharpe Novel so always a leasure
Disadvantages: Disjointed feel

...Sharpe's Fury is the latest in the long running series by Bernard Cornwell detailing the heroics and exploits of Richard Sharpe, a common soldier during the Penninsular War whose skill in battle leads to promotion and a different set of problems battling against the class system of the British military. The novel was released last summer (august '06) and is the 21st book in the series (I think this makes Sharpe one of the longest running characters in terms of number of adventures). As Bernard Cornwell didn't know how popular the books (and later TV series) would be the stories were originally chronological, although in the last decade or so he has begun to fill in the gaps between these, hence this is the latest novel however chronologically the 11th story. The book is set in 1811 and reflects the Battle of Barossa in Spain...

Sharpe gets whipped

Advantages: Fills in some of the missing background to the "later" books, Pretty compelling read
Disadvantages: Not as fresh as some of the others in the series.

...As the 18th century draws to a close Private Richard Sharpe finds himself persecuted, bored and ready to run from the British Army while stationed in India. After a particularly brutal (and undeserved) punishment he's given the chance to escape from the tyrannical (and insane) Sergeant Hawkswill, when he is sent into the midst of the enemy to rescue a senior officer and just possibly save the army from an ignominious and catastrophic defeat. Although, in chronological terms, this is the first novel in the Sharpe series, it was actually one of the later books to be published. As such Cornwell seems to have far more of an idea of his main characters traits and rather than going through a natural progression throughout the book, it was almost as if they were transplanted "ready-made" from the very first page. While this doesn't make them...

Super Sharp Shooter

Advantages: Has all the lastest extras that a phone needs
Disadvantages: Doesn't stay charged for to long

...I have just upgraded my old Nokia 3510i to the Sharp GX30i. It was quite hard to choose a new phone out of the thousands available. I tried reading reviews on ciao on every phone I could find, but this still did not help me on my quest. In the end I decided to go for the Sharp GX30i because I had already seen one and knew that I liked it. ***What does it look like*** Well its a silver flip phone that is just larger than the palm of my hand, when closed. The camera lens is at the top hidden discreetly in a black strip and it has a LCD screen on the front. with a small pertruding aerial. ***How easy is it to use*** The answer to this is yes, when you get a call simply flip it open and press the green button to answer and the red button to hang up. The 0-9 keys are nicely spaced out, so when your texting you shouldn't make too...

No Challenge for Sharpe

Advantages: Superbly shot, great casting
Disadvantages: none really!

...I have to admit, i was absolutely gutted when this came out. I'd just spent a small fortune on the boxset. On the other hand, I was chuffed to bits, sharpe was back! It'd been a long time since Sean Bean had donned that uniform, and it shows - though it fits in perfectly with the storyline. The storyline is loosely based on the book "Sharpes Fortress" - the last of the Sharpe in India series. In Challenge, Sharpe returns to India as a retired colonel to search for Harper - and along the way gets himself involved with the Incompetent Simmerson (the most hated of sharpes enemies!) and ends up posing as a redcoat deserter, to rescue the ailing generals daughter and save the day - though things go terribly wrong when a captured sargeant gives Sharpe and Harper away - and as always with Sharpe, death, mass explosions and screaming charges...
