Sharp VL-PD3H viewcam

Advantages: ease of use,excellent sound,good quality video in good light.
Disadvantages: placing of control buttons, menu options, low light performance.

...I have owned the Sharp vl-pd3h camcorder for about a year now, mainly used for family BBQ's and the odd day trip out. (havn't caught any UFO's yet !!) First impressions of the camera are of a good quality product, fits nicely in the hand. The main off,camera,vcr control button has to be "pressed" then rotated to the position you want. The menu of options is very comprehensive, if a bit confusing at first. As with most things, "if you dont use it enough you tend to loose it " Flip out the viewscreen, hit the record with thumb and your away. I've used the camera mostly on full auto mode (as most people will) but there are a range of manual overrides to correct certain lighting conditions, eg backlight compensation, and very bright conditions where the iris size can be reduced / or adjustable shutter speed can be selected. Sharp at the Cutting Edge!

Advantages: Comfortable to use, excellent output, packed with features
Disadvantages: Dodgy menu buttons, below average battery life

Advantages: NICE PICTURE, EXCELENT OUT PUT AND COMFORTABLE TO USE.
Disadvantages: LOW BATTERY LIFE.

No Challenge for Sharpe

Advantages: Superbly shot, great casting
Disadvantages: none really!

...I have to admit, i was absolutely gutted when this came out. I'd just spent a small fortune on the boxset. On the other hand, I was chuffed to bits, sharpe was back! It'd been a long time since Sean Bean had donned that uniform, and it shows - though it fits in perfectly with the storyline. The storyline is loosely based on the book "Sharpes Fortress" - the last of the Sharpe in India series. In Challenge, Sharpe returns to India as a retired colonel to search for Harper - and along the way gets himself involved with the Incompetent Simmerson (the most hated of sharpes enemies!) and ends up posing as a redcoat deserter, to rescue the ailing generals daughter and save the day - though things go terribly wrong when a captured sargeant gives Sharpe and Harper away - and as always with Sharpe, death, mass explosions and screaming charges...

Sharp for squirt

...I am sitting here in the library typing out a review on one of my latest acquisitions, namely a notebook. Not just any notebook, but the Sharp's Actius MM10 or in the UK, it might be the MM100. I bought this little baby while in the US about a year ago and it has accompanied me since then on all the trips I've taken. It is safe to say that so far, this machine has managed to accomplished all that I needed it to do, well almost all but a little bit of that later.
