...Heeley City Farm is an inner City Farm project in Sheffield that began back in 1981. In those early days a group of dedicated volunteers set about clearing two acres of derelict land and rubble and transformed it into what it is today. Those same individuals successfully registered the project as a Charity and with help from the Sheffield City Council and later funding, from the EEC and Lottery funding, this place was quickly transformed, but as it expanded way beyond the initial dream its philosophy remained the same. ...The City Road Cemetery in Sheffield may seem like an odd place to call an attraction but as the largest of the City?s Public Cemeteries it offers a vast area of open, recreation land, within an otherwise Urban area. This Cemetery first opened in 1881 and it was originally known as Intake Cemetery since City Road, where it is located, was at that time known as Intake Road. Just to confuse things slightly there is now a different, much smaller Cemetery called Intake Cemetery, which can be found about a mile further out from the City Centre. Initially the Cemetery was used only for Burials, but on the 24th April 1905 the first Cremation take place here, at the newly completed Crematorium. ...The Plug is located above a block of offices right in the heart of the city centre and since opening its doors a few years ago it has established itself as one of the most popular venues in the city. It is a large club split into three different rooms; cleverly called Live, Earth and Neutral. Live is the room where most of the live bands play and there is a stage and a room large enough to accommodate around 500 people standing. The other two rooms are usually used to play different styles of music but the design of the place means that it is possible to remove the false walls and create one large room with a capacity of around 1200. I seen a few live acts here including Jarvis Cocker and Glasvegas and on both of these occasions it was just one large room rather than the three smaller ones. ...i have been in sheffield for three years, both the universities are highly rated in all aspects, i want to tell you a little about the city itself. Sheffield is located in the heart of Britain, right on the M1 easy to get to from both north and south. It has a large city centre with excellent shops including a tram system. The centre also contains Ponds Forge the international standard sports centre and The Crucible theatre. There are a multitude of cinemas including a new Virgin entertainment centre on the outskirts. For shopoholics there is also the meadowhall shopping centre. There is a tremendous nightclub scene, including the infamous Gatecrasher at the Republic nightclub other student venues include club Wow, The Leadmill and Kingdom. Accommodation is cheap averaging about 30 pounds per week and the city is less crime ridden...

However, on arrival at the hotel we saw a notice in reception saying that the price for a standard double for one or two people was £54. Usually you can get a cheaper price by booking on line, but clearly not in this case. To get this price we had to pay in advance and we could not get a refund if we canceled. ...Sheffield became a city in 1889 approxiamate guess. Its the fourth largest city in England, with London, Birmingham and Leeds just in front of us. We have two universitys Sheffield Hallam and University of Sheffield. We have two fhigh profile football teams, Sheffield United and Wednesday. We are also home to the oldest football club in the world, Sheffield FC still in exsitence. For some strange reason Rotherham United have started to play games in Sheffield. The city centre is large but struggles due to the success of Meadowhall which has taken a lot of trade from the city centre. A Big Day At The Sheffield Novotel!

...When one of my best friends got married yesterday (Sunday 19th December 2005) the location that she chose was the Novotel in Sheffield. This location was chosen for the entire day, which included the Civil Wedding at 2.30pm, the meal afterwards at 4pm and the evening reception which started at 7.30pm. The first thing that I will say before I begin this review is that I live less than a 5 minute walk away from this Hotel, which is conveniently situated right in the middle of the city centre, so I didn't actually stay here. This review is therefore based on my own opinions as seen from a non paying guest.
