Advantages: It makes you laugh at the cheapness of the ad
Disadvantages: Apart from being cheap and tacky its only for women sexist or what?

...Now I know you must have seen the tacky and tasteless adverts for Sheila`s Wheel car insurance. I am so glad they have given us a chance to give our opinion on it. Firstly,we have the most annoying song I think anyone has been stupid enough to write.The singers (or should I say wannabe singers)seaming murder the song no matter which version of the ad you listen to,or have the misfortune of being continually subjected to. I suppose in one way you could say,the maker of the advert are making sure you dont forget their product,because after just one viewing it seams to be mentally tattooed on your brain in horror. Okay then,lets tackly the advert where you see an Australian gent called Butch Maguire on stage about to start his performance. Review of Sheila's wheels

John and Sheila, a modern day love story

Advantages: Spares you the agony and full details of John's illness
Disadvantages: Too "Theatrical" in places , a real "luvvie" book

..." Just the two of us - we can make it if we try, just the two of us, you and I". I cannot help it but each time I reach for the cover of this book that darn song appears in my head. Don't let that start of my review fool you though, this is not a story to put a smile on your face. It's a pity that the book isn't as cheery as the song as there is no happy ending. The book is a true story about John Thaw of The Sweeney and Morse fame written by his wife, Sheila Hancock. As I have just finished reading it I decided to share my thoughts on this book with you if you are deciding on what next to read. ********The Cover***************** First impressions are good, 302 pages of what looks to be a compulsive read. Sheila's Wheels need to get staff who know what they are doing!!!

Advantages: Prices are good until you need something else
Disadvantages: Staff are useless and totally without product knowledge

...I am reciting all this, as I believe that most call centre operators are not properly trained and if you go off their script they are totally lost and do not know what to do, because this has happened to me during numerous calls for different matters Well........... I had Sheila's Wheels for 21 months - everything was OK - it was a good price and easily taken on and renewed at a good price with added extras. BUT and it is a GREAT BIG BUT!!!!...........I decided to change my car, found the one I wanted but, because I beat the new car seller down on price, they would not take the old one, so I had to sell it privately. Therefore, I needed to keep the old one insured.... SO, being the optimistic creature that I am, I rang Shelia's Wheels, thinking, that maybe there would be, at the very least, no problem and BEING EVEN MORE...

'How Will I know' by Sheila O'Flanagan

Advantages: A good read
Disadvantages: A bit depressing to start off with

...expected. By the time the book progresses, you feel it getting more and more upbeat, which I think ties in with how Claire feels over losing her husband. Things get more positive for her and this comes through in the book - in fact in the last part of the book there is a really funny incident at an art gallery which made me laugh out loud, I really could picture the scene quite clearly! Claire's life is happier at the end of the book than it was at the beginning, but whether there is someone else in her life is up to you to read the book to find out. Lots of things happen throughout the book - some funny and some not. Claire's parents separate and meet other people, while on a funnier note, Claire goes to a Dinner in the Dark evening. There are really interesting characters in the book, as I usually find with Sheila O...

Does he really exist??

...I have read many of Sheila O'Flanagan's books and have always found them light enjoyable reads with interesting storylines and likeable characters. This is what I was expecting from The Perfect Man, and I was not at all disappointed. Unlike most of O'Flanagan's books, this one is not set in Dublin but mainly takes place on a romantic cruise ship in the Caribbean. Britt McDonagh, the successful author of a novel also entitled The Perfect Man, has been invited on board to present a series of talks and workshops about successful romantic writing. This feels quite uncomfortable for Britt as she believes herself to be the least romantic person on earth and much less so than her sister Mia who she has invited along as her assistant. Mia's life is almost the total opposite of Britt's, living in a rundown villa in Spain with her young daughter...

"Ours was not a conventional love affair"

Advantages: Book is now out in paperback
Disadvantages: Can be hard reading at times

...The inner sleeve of this book begins "When John Thaw, star of The Sweeney, Inspector Morse and Goodnight, Mr Tom, died from cancer in 2002, a nation lost one of its finest actors. Sheila Hancock lost a beloved husband". That sums up what this is about. Actor Sheila Hancock opens her heart, her personal diary and family album to show us a little more about John Thaw and how she felt throughout his illness and subsequent death. There are some wonderful photos, some of which are personal and some have been taken from various stage and TV shows. Sheila and John met while Sheila was still married to her first husband, Alec. They were both working on a play called "So What About Love?" in 1969. John declared his love for Sheila but integrity won and they didn't get together. Fate sadly, intervened when Alec died from cancer...

And Then There Was One...

Advantages: Straightforward, honest and deeply moving
Disadvantages: Have some tissues to hand

That line, an entry from Sheila Hancock's diary, made shortly after the death of her husband, the actor John Thaw, perhaps sums up why I bought this book. I'd long been an admirer of Thaw's work, dating back to his portrayal of tough copper Jack Regan in the seventies TV series, The Sweeney, through to his more erudite roles as Inspector Morse and Kavanagh QC, and when he died from cancer in February, 2002, I, along with many other members of the ordinary public, felt a strangely personal sense of loss at his untimely passing. I'd never met the man of course, yet it was as though I had lost an old acquaintance, as I'm sure it was for many people. So yes, Sheila Hancock was right; we were, in all likelihood, mourning one...

Bad Behaviour

Advantages: A brilliant read with excellent characters.
Disadvantages: Hard to put down.

...good to get stuck into. It is another classic by Sheila O'Flanagan. I think I have read most other books by this author, and this does not let her fans down. It is as good as - perhaps even better - than the rest. I got my copy from the local library, but if your library does not have a copy or you want to buy your own copy, you could probably find a cheap copy from ebay or Amazon....

Advantages: great read
Disadvantages: none

...Sheila O'Flanagan has been a favourite author of mine for quite some time now and 'Yours, Faithfully' is the latest in a long line of her novels. She is an Irish writer and all her contemporary novels are based around Dublin and this always seems to provide an interesting backdrop to the tales she tells. At the beginning of 'Yours, Faithfully' we meet Iona Brannon. She has been happily married to her husband Frank, who she wed in the Carribean, for the last five years. They are desperately trying for a baby to make their family complete - although unfortunately Iona has just discovered that she is not pregnant this month. Iona and Frank have a very strong idyllic marriage even though his business takes him away such a lot. In the next chapter we meet Sally who has been happily married to her husband for at least twenty years...
