IVAR good shelving unit from IKEA

Advantages: Cheap, Unfinished softwood, Highly compatible with every room, Strong, Easy to construct, Easy to change layout, Easy to addon extra parts at a later date
Disadvantages: Can look a little plain (lke scaffolding) if not painted or waxed.

...Having worked at IKA for two years, I have learnt which of the products are good in which areas, and which are the best value. I needed some shelving in my bedroom and the IVAR range seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Not only was IVAR fairly cheap, it was also beyond easy to build, the number of combination possibilities was endless, the unfinshed softwood the units were made out of meant that I could paint, wax, oil, etc to any colour to match my room. If you put a shelf in place, and then feel it doesn't fit in well, it's not a case of having to undo the whole unit - you simply lift the shelf up, move the four supporting metal pins to a different level, and place the pin down again. The IVAR range is compatble with just about every room in a house - incorporating such pieces as a drop-leaf table, plain and glass...

Advantages: light weight, easily assembled, reasonably priced

The unit we bought is a 4 tier unit. Size (H) 132.5 cm, (W) 69 cm, (D) 30 cm. It is light weight and easily assembled in minutes.. so it said! No bolts or screws involved and will not bend or buckle. Advantages: Lots of space for changing baby, very well built, will last for ages

But lets start with the basic things first. The shelves are made of untreated solid pine about 2 cm thick. At the two ends, which attach to the side units are galvanized steel rails. They can take up to a maximum load of 18 kg, which is not quite 3 stones. They come in 2 different lenghts and depths: 42x30 cm; a pack of five costs 10 GBP 83x30 cm 42x50 cm; a pack of five costs 25 GBP 83x50 cm; a pack of five costs 25 GBP You also get shelves for the corner in a diamond kind of shape 56x56x30 cm; one for 10 GBP 76x76x50 cm; one for 15 GBP But only those shelves won't really hold anything so you also need side units and in case...

The shelving comes in a few different sizes and colours. You can buy a set of shelves that are square in shape at approx 70 x 70 cm. ...Ikea makes several changing stations, but only one of them comes with attachable shelves, and eventually converts to a bureau. The bottom half of the unit costs £100. It comprises three drawers and a jutting out platform for changing, which also has a small open storage space beneath. The three drawers are deep, and glide smoothly (if you build it right). The changing platform is held in place by a fixed hinge. Its a bit nerve wracking at first placing your baby on what looks like a shelf supported only by open air, but it is very strongly supported by both wood and metal. When you no longer need a changing station (will that ever happen?) you undo the fixed part of the hinges and the platform folds up and over to form an opening and closing bureau. ...My local Sainsbury's is advertising anywhere you care to look in store that they have extended their opening hours and are now open from 7:30am to 10pm during the week. I decided to go at 7pm on a Monday and found that most of the shelves stocking everyday items were less than a third full. What is the point of extending the opening hours when there is no milk, only two types of apple, no orange squash, only the cheapest white bread (which is only left because no one else wants it) etc etc? I (or a member of my family) have shopped at Sainsbury's since 1986, and have been happy to pay a bit extra to buy quality items in a quality environment. Needs to be taken off the shelves.

Advantages: Reduction in wrinkles within a day, almost immediate results.
Disadvantages: Very harsh for the skin.

...The land of no shelves?!! You will know what i mean if you have ever been! The products are sooooooooo cheepo that the company need to save every penny they can and so cannot afford to have any shelves! Ok, a slight over exaggeration there are some shelves but many products are just stacked up in boxes. When i was younger we used to tease other kids for shopping at Netto. It was seen as a sign that you were poor and so shoped there because you didnt have much money. We used to sing to the Netto-ettes "Lets all go to Netto, Where 'rachel' gets her clothes from, da-da-da-da woo, da-da-da-da woo. They really are quite nifty, they only cost £one-fifty, da-da-da-da woo, da-da-da-da woo." In hinesight it was the tightest thing on this earth to do but kids will be kids. The most bizzare thing is that Netto dont even sell...
