RV ....RUNAWAY VACATION... ROBIN WILLIAMS MOVIE ,FAMILY COMEDY!!!

Advantages: Funny ,has Robin Williams in it-can watch it with the kids -though I'd have watched it on my own
Disadvantages: dry kind of humour(which I like) BUT-some people don't get it

...Having just read three other reviews on ciao for this movie I feel as they are all pretty negative and this is one of my sons and my favourite family movies I will try to put across why this movie is actually worth watching and not just once maybe even two or three times. I was browsing in the supermarket when I thought I'd pick up a movie to watch over the weekend with my son who was 7 at the time of buying it. Luckily my son and I have very similar tastes in movies only difference being he is obsessed with star wars and indiana jones movies! Not saying they are bad movies ,because they are great movies, but to watch them day in and day out over and over.... !!! The Sherwood RD6103 - A Real Bargain!

Advantages: Loud, Great Sound Quality, Lots Of Control, Cheap!
Disadvantages: Large physical size, Poor Remote Control

The Sony MHC-RV800 D

Advantages: Massive Sound, DVD Surround, Good Quality Construction
Disadvantages: Speaker Distortion, Problems With Surround Sound.

...Wow. This is kinda stretching my memory slightly, as I have had this sound system for a few years now, but I never realised it was MHC-RV800 D. I always thought is was 8000 (eight thousand)! Strange things we do find out. Aaanyway. I bought this system a few years ago as a sound system and CD player rather than a home cinema system, and so I know far more about its sound that its picture qualities, although I have played a few films on it. I purchased mine from Currys for £350, and took it home that same day. The system comes in two boxes, one with the main control unit and the surround speakers in, and the other with the Left / Right front speakers and the subwoofer. Ridiculously Vapid

Advantages: None at all, its awful from start to finish
Disadvantages: Not funny in the slightest

...Robin Williams plays a man who is too wimpy to tell his boss he won't write a report when he's supposed to be going on holiday. Employment laws are on his side, he is allowed holiday. His boss can't threaten his job the way he does, so that conflict would never arise. He hires an RV and is given no instruction as to its various functions and has not been asked if he has ever driven anything like it? That I find unlikely! Their trip to his business meeting is of course plagued with problems, all of which they fully deserve. Everything that happens to this family, they deserve. The whole fact that they learnt a lesson is supposed to be a resolution at the end of the film. Even the way they treat the other campers who try to be friendly with them is excessive. Robin Williams is supposed to be the main comedy name carrying this film but...

LG 42PX3RV Plasma Screen (not projection)

Advantages: Great Picture, HDTV Compatible, HDMI Ready, PIP
Disadvantages: Not HDTV Ready

...First of all its a great screen, I have had it for 5 months and it's given me nothing but joy. It's been great for Movies, Sky Plus, Football and Xbox. I was tempted to buy one of the real budget screens, but on reading AVForums.com I was put off. I spend a good month looking at writeups and reviews on various screens and eventually chose this one. The TV offers a huge choice of connections - Scart, SVHS, HDMI, Component and DVI. Great features - Picture in Picture, HDTV Compatible, XD Picture. If you can't afford or don't need a HDTV Ready Plasma screen the LG 42PX3RV can't be faulted. I have hooked it up to a LG DVX9900H High Definition DVD player using a HDMI connection and the picture looks great. By the way HDTV Compatible means the the plasma has 480 lines so it must downscale the 720 or 1080 signal first...

Rotten Vehicle

Advantages: Jeff Daniels and Krisitin Chenoweth bring oodles of energy to their roles
Disadvantages: It's lacklustre in all depertments

...on one's nerves. The stunt work throughout is impressive, if marred somewhat by the dissimilarity of Williams double to the actor. There are plenty of painful looking pratfalls, some big stunts feature the runaway mobile home and a fight with a raccoon, all performed with alacrity. "RV" is yet another bargain bucket family comedy that is disappointingly mediocre. The performances are desperately average, the story and especially the jokes are incredibly predictable and the direction is well below par. Kids might enjoy the slapstick but if your age or IQ is into double figures, you'll be hard-pressed to enjoy it....

Panasonic RV32 - Good value machine

Advantages: RGB Composite out, High Speed fast forward, DTS out
Disadvantages: Terrible remote control, Sometimes slow to load a disc

...The RV32 is my second DVD player, after owning a Samsing 709 machine. I'm not a techno wizard, and a DVD picture looks great to me and to be honest, I cannot see much difference between the two players. The big difference is that the Panaonic supports MP3, CDRw and DVDr discs. This is a great bonus considering that new PC's have digital video editing capabilities. Picture quality of my discs were, as always with DVD, amazing. The RV32 has all the standard features, pause, zoom, fast forward and so on and all seemed to work fine. One anoyinh thing when compared with the Samsung is that if you turn the RV32 off mid film, when you switch back on, you have to start from the begining where as the Samsung would carry on from where it finsihed. May not seem like much, but this was very handy. The Panasonic also seems to be one...
