Fawlty Towers!
Advantages: Superb comedy with John Cleese
Disadvantages: It's a shame there weren't more series
...Fawlty Towers is my favourite comedy and one of favourites in our home and also with most of my friends and family. It originally aired on BBC 1 in the 1970s
It is a comedy made at the height of comedy in the 70s and is about a hotel - "Fawlty Towers" in Torquay. It is probably one of the best known and most loved British comedy and although there were only ever two series they are forever being shown on channels such as UKTV gold - and with there being this boxset available you will never forget this great programme. I am forever watching the episodes over and over again despite knowing most of the words - they are just so funny and enjoyable to watch.
How it all started:
The series was written partly by John Cleese who came up with the idea when he was staying at a hotel in Torquay named the Gleneagles. He was there along...

The CN Tower
Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: None
...So this next review is about my experience in the CN tower, when I visited Toronto Canada. I had visited a number of big attraction sights in Toronto, but this was one of the one?s that a enjoyed extremely. It was fun, exciting, bold and out of this world, it was a plus that I wasn?t afraid of heights, so for anyone who does suffer from vertigo, it might be a challenge to visit this place. I had been to Toronto once before, however I was only 8 and thus didn?t have the chance to visit the CNN tower only views it from outside. I promised myself that I would come back one day to visit this attraction, only took me over a decade to come back, but it was highly worth the wait.
Information and the CN Tower:
The CN tower started its construction in 1975, once the construction was complete it stood at a mammoth 1,815.4 ft) tall, making it...

Fawlty Towers
Advantages: fantastic humour from the god of all moaners
Disadvantages: none apart from not enough episodes made
...Created by John Cleese and Connie Booth.
Series 1 produced and directed by John Howard Davies.
Series 2 produced by Dougkas Argent, Directed by Bob Spiers.
Starring John Cleese, Prunella Scales, Andrew Saches and Connie Booth.
Fawlty towers was a classic comedy, set in a fictional hotel in Torquay, which began in September 1975 until October 1979, creating 12 episodes into 2 series.
The main Characters being the hotel owners Basil Fawlty, (played by John Cleese), with his stressed out attitude and the tendency to create chaos out of calm. Also his wife Sybil (played by Prunella Scales), with her beehive hair style and laid back, if lazy, attitude.
Then there was the housekeeper Polly, (played by Connie Booth) and Manuel, (played by Andrew Saches), the Spanish waiter with his pigeon English and his willingness to please...

Alton Towers- What a day
Advantages: All in one place, Fantastic grounds, Helpful Staff
Disadvantages: Really just the Q time
...After a visit to Alton Towers theme park, I thought it was about time I complete a review on my experience there.
Why Alton Towers
We as a group chosen Alton Towers for many reasons, but mainly because it has many fantastic rides that will take your breath away, in addition to the fantastic scenery. We had heard from other friends that it's an adventure for children and adults alike. We wanted to go somewhere that we would have a fantastic time and also be able to get some memorable pictures and stories
Getting There
We driven from Scotland (Edinburgh) - It taken approximately 5hrs to drive there, that was leaving at 2am and getting to Stoke at 7am. Alton Towers theme park is a 20 min drive from Stoke.
Travelling from the North you need to take Junction 15 off the M6, when travelling on the M6 be aware there are...

The Tower of London
Advantages: Full of History, great tours, Crown Jewels
Disadvantages: None
...This past weekend we had an American colleague of ours come to London for the first time so my husband and I (we work at the same company) decided to take her around sightseeing and show her some of London. As we work quite near the Tower of London and both hadn't been here since we were kids we decided to make it our first port of call.
The Tower of London is situated right on the River Thames in the borough district of Tower Hamlets with the closest tube station being Tower Hill on the Circle and District Line. It was built by William the Conqueror in 1078 originally intended as a Royal Palace. It was then used as a prison with a great number of very famous prisoners, mostly kings and queens of England and the various wives of Henry the 8th. This is where the phrase "sent to the tower" comes from in terms of being sent to prison...

Faulty Tower
Advantages: Lots of stars in their hey-days, easy to follow plot
Disadvantages: Drags in some places and these days, seems really scary!
...This classic disaster film from 1974 is based on 2 novels - "The Tower" and "The Glass Inferno". The film works I think because we don't know who will survive except for that fact that Steve McQueen and Paul Newman will obviously get out!
This film has been on TV numerous times and even in these days of real disaster, it's still an exciting film. It must have looked superb on the big screen. It's made by the same person who made "The Poseidon Adventure" - Irwin Allen.
The basic plot of what I think is the ultimate disaster movie, centres around a fire in a multi-storey building. It's part offices, part hotel suites. Guests in the world's biggest skyscraper get trapped at the top of the building when a fire breaks out near the lower floors. The fire is caused by cheap electrical wiring and bad construction. We follow...

The Spinnaker Tower
Advantages: Amazing views and stunning coast line
Disadvantages: The lift journey, expensive prices in the Waterfront Bar and lack of toilets
...Portsmouth is steeped in history, a military garrison town and is the home to the Royal Navy. It was intended to build the Spinnaker Tower for the Millennium celebrations but unfortunately was not completed in time. The plans for its development began in 1998 and it wasn't until 18 October 2005 that the tower was finally completed and open to the public, but not without its many hitches and problems.
Shaped like a giant sail, the tower is situated right in the heart of Gun Wharf Quays, Portsmouth. However the building is operated separately to Gunwharf Quays. Soaring 170 m (557 ft) above sea level, the tower has three levels, at 100, 105 and 110m. Unfortunatley only the first deck is accessible by elevator.
The purpose of the tower, 'Renaissance of Portsmouth Harbour' redevelopment project is to give the public a unique...

Silver Tower
Advantages: Definitely action-packed! (+) a good, shorter read (+) enjoyable (+) not typical characters
Disadvantages: takes a little while to get going (-) slightly dated (-) limited space/science knowledge in parts
...the technological details he uses throughout. The majority - if not all - of Brown's work is set in near future periods. His novels have gained him several awards, probably the most notable being New York Times Bestseller! He studied Western European History at Penn State University and had a commission in the US Air Force in 1978. He was awarded many times during his time in the armed forces. This is probably related to his famous hobby and love of space and science! He currently lives in Lake Tahoe, Nevada with his wife and son and even owns a private jet!
BASIC DETAILS ABOUT THE BOOK
I only own the paperback version of Silver Tower; it is 400 pages in length which, in my opinion, is a sufficient amount for something you just want to pick up and read as a very short-term 'project', so to speak. It didn't take me long to complete...

Alton Towers!!
Advantages: Fun day out, great rides.
Disadvantages: Pricey, lots of walking.
...I thought I'd do a review of Alton Towers because it will give me a lot to write about and I went there quite recently for the first time and enjoyed it very much. I haven't written in this kind of category before and only now do I see how much there actually is to write, so here goes:
Alton Towers Theme Park is the most famous theme park which has been successfully running since 1980. The park is set high in the hills of Alton in Staffordshire and it is so well hidden amongst the trees that if the queues and queues of cars within a few miles of the place weren't there you'd never notice it! The theme park is expanding and has increased vastly since it's opening in 1980. The buying up of the theme park has caused more and more money to be put into the park which is only good for thrill seekers! The amount of new rides is increasing...
