Brilliant portable DVD player

Advantages: Looks great, plays great, lots of accessories, multiregion
Disadvantages: no free headphones

...I frequently travel on the train for 3 hour journeys each way so I wanted a portable DVD player to stop me being bored rigid. I happily chose the Shinco 1731A portable DVD player for the following reasons 1) The seven inch model was small, easily portable but the colour ActiveMatrix TFT screen didn't seem too small when watching films on the train. THe screen also has a 400:1 contrast ratio giving really clear pictures. 2) I wanted a multiregion portable DVD player so I could use all formats (1-6). This DVD player also plays other formats, including DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, JPEG and Kodak Picture CD. Advantages: Small, easily carried
Disadvantages: no case or earphones as supplied

...problems getting my details accepted. Well you don't want to know all that. This model is a Shinco 5" portable. What you get in the box is the set. A mains adaptor, a charger unit and a lithium battery that takes 6 hours to charge and should last for 2.5 hrs of playing. There is also a remote control, a lead to attach to a car cigarette lighter and leads to attach to TV or TV and Stereo units. You do a get a 12 mth guarantee, but this has to be sent to Singapore. They do not do an on-site repair service, well sending a repair man from Singapore or China would be rather costly. You may have to send your unit to China if it breaks down. Possibly not worth it. There is a comprehensive booklet in English and Chinese. The whole unit is silver finished and is multi region capable from the box. The whole thing weighs in at about 650gms...

The best portable on the market.

Advantages: The look. The portability. The games. The films. The accessories. Pretty much the whole package.
Disadvantages: Not out in the UK yet!!!! Battery life. Loading times

Advantages: Great portable media player. Ideal for Games & Movies
Disadvantages: Not so good as an MP3 player as a little bulky.

...This is an ideal portable console/MP3 Player and MP4 Player for all. Since having the PSP I no longer find myself bored whilst on the train to work. I generally use it for gaming and watching movies. The gameplay/graphics are awesome for such a small device. The added bonus of the PSP is that you can switch it off and when you switch it back on again it allows you to play where you left off even if this is half way through a football match. As for movie capability, this is straight forward. As long as you have a large enough memory card, you can load MP4 files and watch movies on the go with the PSP. I don't really use the PSP as an MP3 player as it's a little too bulky for the pocket. I don't think this is the main benefit of the PSP but the option's there. ...The PSP was brought as a birthday present, I?m not an Avid gamer and didn?t really intend to become one, So it was without much enthusiasm I opened the box. I was soon gripped though on playing with the buttons and the games that came with it, Pretty soon the PSP never left my hands, I found it easy to use and all the functions were simple, even for someone as simple as me. The battery life on my PSP was fantastic and it kept me entertained for many hours on long journeys, I found the DVD Quality to be good although the DVDs themselves can be slightly pricey. I owned the PSP For 2 weeks before I found any problems with it, I was in the middle of a standard game, and it stopped working, It came up with an error saying the Disc could not be read. Nothing worked to fix it, It hadn?t been dropped or anything - I was mighty disappointed...

The PSP Slim does not have a touch screen. it is essentially the old PSP with a few a few minor changes.These are the changes: It can store game data in the cache so the PSP doesn't consistently have to access the UMD, which speeds up load times. Playstation Portable - The PSP

Advantages: Great Graphics, Fun and stylish, can hold upto 500+ MP3'S

...the game will not be fiddily, awkward or just a copie/ remake of an older PS2 title. When watching a UMD video on the PSP the quality is excellent and plays just as if it is on TV so it is well worth getting if you dont play games and you just want a small screen to watch your favourite films on, just like a portable DVD player. DESIGN The design of the PSP makes it easy to hold and much thought must have gone into the design layout as the buttons are well spaced so they are easy to access when playing games. It is light enough to hold comfortably and the smooth face on the front allows it to be cleaned easy, but finger prints do get smudged over the screen.
