I admit it, I hate Milton Keynes Shopping Centre.

Advantages: Huge number of shops.
Disadvantages: Huge number of shops.

...I have read the other (beautifully written and informative) ops on Milton Keynes Shopping Centre - and I think there must be something wrong with me. I can't stand the place. I live in nearby Buckingham and probably venture into Milton Keynes once every couple of months - less if I can possibly avoid it. The drive into Milton Keynes is uninspiring. Roundabout after roundabout begins the illusion of being on a treadmill. Parking is not too bad, easily available (less so at weekends) and not too badly priced. But then we are faced with the shops. Shopping in Milton Keynes hurts. The floors are somehow harder than anywhere else and after 10 minutes the headache kicks in. A new Centre has just been completed which has only served to double my misery. It is a copy of the first one. Every time I go to MK, I vow that this time I will...

So You Think You Can Shop ???

Advantages: Huge Selection, Disabled Facilities, Great Experience
Disadvantages: Gets Very Busy, Parking Bad

...Me and my family moved to Milton Keynes to escape the cluttered and increasingly violent world of South East London and I have to say it is the best move we have ever made. Great school's, Cheap Housing (On the rise now), Less congestion, Less Crime and of course let's not forget Milton Keynes Shopping centre. Let's face it we all love to shop especially when treating ourselves and the great thing about Milton Keynes is wherever you live in Milton Keynes you are only ever 15 minutes from one of the best shopping centers in the country if not the best. LOOK AND DESIGN The centre itself is 1.79 Million Square Feet of pure shopping experience with over 230 retail outlets for you to explore and is bigger than even the Blue Water Shopping Centre. Made almost completely of glass it is not only a great place to shop but a fantastic piece...

Centre MK - Milton Keynes An update

Advantages: SUITABLE FOR THE DISABLED VISITOR/UNDER ONE ROOF
Disadvantages: CAN GET VERY BUSY ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS

...As a resident in Milton Keynes I visit the Centre MK on a regular basis, and thought I would update you on what's happening. Firstly the Centre MK is all on one level, which makes it easier for wheelchair users and mums with buggies to get around. The Centre is split into 4 main shopping areas and 2 leisure areas: The original part which is about 1/2 a mile long with two main walk ways either side with Marks and Spencer one end and John Lewis the other. A large square area near to John Lewis called Middleton Hall is where the Christmas displays & exhibitions take place. The Christmas display always delights young and old. The Food Hall which is adjacent to the main building on the open market side contains mainly Supermarkets and some specialist food & wine stores. The theatre area is the place to go if you want restaurants...

Come to Milton Keynes but week days only

Advantages: Good selection of shops - easy to get to
Disadvantages: Weekends are mobbed, cyclists, skateboarders

...If you live in Northampton and have to suffer shopping there, a trip to Milton Keynes can be a treat. However I can only recommend a trip during the week, as the weekends are suffocatingly busy. Everybody talks about the dreaded Milton Keynes roundabouts and how Americanised the streets and street-names are, but actually the road signs at all these roundabouts are helpful, and you cannot miss the shopping centre. The main shops are signed from as far back as the M1 and there is even a free park and ride although I have not used this so cannot comment. I would certainly suggest using this facility at the weekends as parking does become a problem. If you do decide to park the prices have actually gone up from today (15 October 2001) to 80p per hour however it’s not as simple as that as you cannot pay £3.20 for four hours...

Milton Keynes-Ultra Modern

Advantages: Well Planned. Modern. Good Facilities. Great Shops
Disadvantages: May lack character

...When I lived in Northamptonshire I visited Milton Keynes quite often. I went there basically for the shopping. It really is impressive. Firstly there is a huge shopping mall where you can shop til you drop and most of the big High Street names are there. What else do I like about Milton Keynes ? In a way I think it is rather like Singapore without the sun. It is arguably the most impressive of Britain's new towns and really has been well planned. Most of the facilities are very modern including the railway station and the housing is very good indeed. Critics say its lacks character and there may be some truth in that but it is I believe a good place to live and work in. The Japanese certainly think that for there has been quite large inflows of investment from Japan into Milton Keynes. The Open University is located there...

Snozone Milton Keynes

Advantages: Great Fun, good facilities, helpful staff
Disadvantages: Can get over crowded in peak times

...Snozone Milton Keynes is a fantastic facility to be enjoyed by a variety of different people. Unfortunately there are many people who feel that it is expensive and nothing compared to a real snow slope- but what can you expect from an artificial slope? We're not talking about a mountain, and in all honesty I feel that Snozone in Milton Keynes offers a brilliant day out for beginners to intermediate skiers/boarders. The slope can get busy in peak times (evenings and weekends), so avoid these times if possible, during the day is the best time to go for recreational time. Lessons however are Snozone's best product. The customer service team in the call centre were very knowledgable on the lessons offered and were very helpful. The instructors were very good and friendly and seemed really keen on their profession. I progressed quickly...

LIVINGWELL MILTON KEYNES

Advantages: TOTAL DE-STRESS
Disadvantages: May need to book a long time in advance

...For my Birthday last year, I received a Boots experience for LivingWell (£50); I chose to go to the LivingWell in Milton Keynes close to where my sister lives as she came with me. We arrived at 9am and were greeted by a friendly receptionist, who gave us some forms to fill in. (For health and medical reasons). Whilst filling in the forms we were offered a drink from the café, when completed we were given a lunch menu to chose from (Included in the price), and asked what time we would like to eat. Lunch was a choice of sandwiches, fruit juice, or a glass of wine or bucks fizz. We were than presented with a white towelling robe and two towels for our use during the day. A member of staff then gave us a guided tour of all the facilities, which included. A fully equipped gym, instructions and training were available for all...

Review of Living Well, Milton Keynes

A Shopping Sprawl

Advantages: Many many stores under one roof.
Disadvantages: Can get very crowded and stressed.

...Now known as The Centre MK, this very modern shopping centre is located in the very heart of Milton Keynes, and in the past year a large extension was also opened. Much like the city in which it resides, The Centre MK is sprawling and evolving! The original centre is a very large rectangular shaped building with two main walkways spanning I would estimate at least a mile. It certainly feels longer though as you trawl up and down, especially on a busy weekend! The newly opened extension I mentioned was built at a right angle to the existing centre, and is much more airy and spacious, as the original centre does sometimes feel cramped. The shops you?ll find are on the whole chain stores with just a scattering of local companies trading. There are not many stores you won?t find really, although a lack of decent shoe shops has...

Theatreland comes to Milton Keynes

Advantages: Easy access and parking, good range of events & reasonable ticket prices
Disadvantages: Small bar

...Milton Keynes Theatre will certainly win no prizes for its imaginative choice of name but how does this new facility stack up? Does new always mean good? Milton Keynes Theatre is situated in the centre of Milton Keynes, close to the already excellent but still-improving shopping centre. It is a part of a modern theatre and art gallery complex opened in October 1999 and attracts very large numbers of visitors. Around the theatre itself there has grown up an area of bars and restaurants so there are plenty of opportunities to meet up for a drink before or dine after an evening in the theatre. There is good parking, either in the adjoining multi-storey or in the extensive surface parking around the nearby shopping centre. The multi-storey will cost you £2 but the surface parking is free after 6pm. Access to the centre of Milton Keynes...

The best gym ever - LA Fitness Milton Keynes

Advantages: A view over a lake. Staffs are helpful and friendly
Disadvantages: A little more expensive than the others

...LA fitness Milton Keynes is a new gym just recently converted from the Dragon Club. The gym is located right by Willen Lake, a massive lake involve with all kind of water sports during the summer period. At first, the gym may give you an impression that it?s not very big. However, it actually has three floors. The ground floor contents a swimming pool with under water blue light, a sauna, a steam room, a spa, a relaxing area and tanning room. With a large window over looking the lake and the blue light shining from the pool, you will feel a great sense of space and relaxation. Second floor content the reception area, the main work out area, a separate treadmill area, a studio for class and the café. The main workout area is spacious contenting all the equipments you will need. There is also a spacious free weight area for those...
