Focus, do they really Do It All??

A house that looked good on the surface gradually transformed into some sort of monster that needed a lot of work to make it to our tastes. Coupled with the fact that the previous owner could have been a contestant on DIY SOS we decided that our home form home would be the local DIY shop. Living where we do we have quite good access to all the major chains. IKEA is 25 minutes away depending on traffic, Homebase is just up the motorway and B&Q is in the town. ...Advantages: Loads of stuff available, good prices Disadvantages: can get busy at christmas time so much so people abandon their shopping I am a huge Asda fan, it's where I do most of my shopping and I know where everything is which makes it easier when dragging 3 kiddies along with you! In my local Asda we have a photo centre, cafe, George, electricals, homewear, toys, bakery, pizzaria, rottisary (chicken place lol), fresh meats counter and all the usual foody aisles plus we have a petrol station, cash machines and bus stop. It's the largest shopping store we have although we do have a Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Co-Op, Farm Foods and Iceland. I have never had a bad experience with Asda and the stock is usually replenished quite quickly! They have such a huge range that I know I can do my weekly shop and more there. Everything...

Dont Shop for it - Argos wont replace it

Shop around

Advantages: Some products are of better quality than rivals
Disadvantages: Alot more expensive than rivals

...Now, i'm not saying don't shop at Focus, but they are extremely EXPENSIVE. If you compare them to B&Q (who are also not cheap) their prices are sky high. I often buy sheet materials and timber. When I went to buy them from Focus, they are about £2 more than B&Q. This may not sound alot, but when you need about 10 sheets, thats alot of money. The other problem with focus is the lack of powertool accessories. Go into B&Q and they have racks upon racks of drill and router bits. Go into focus, and they have a 1meter square rack. That is not selection! The trouble with Focus is that they have turned from a DIY store into a sort of 'everything' shop. Although they have ceased selling epts, they sell furniture like beds, dining tables, chairs and computer desks. In order to improve in my mind, Focus neads to 'focus' on 'DIY and Gardening...

Argos - is it really Brighter Shopping

Advantages: LOADS of stores up and down the country
Disadvantages: the Wedding service isnt all its cracked up to be

Its just a big store where it may be more convieniate for some of us to purchase the larger goods.
