limassol

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: none

.../spray along with water, beer. Along the tourist area of Germasogeia and the Amathous regions of limassol, there are loads of Restaurant's and bars, Coffee shops where people can spend a day, and evening close to the coastal area. At Internet cafes the cost of using these facilities is relatively high. Following on, hiring a Sun Bed and Sun Chair can be as much as three euro's a day. This is quite high considering as people can not spend a whole day in the Sun. I also find that Restaurant's are not as good value as they used to be as the prices have gone up in the last few years and the food quantity provided has also gone astray. The mainstream british and american franchised Retail Outlets in Cyprus are over here with the well known names such as debenhams, marks and spencer, Costa coffee etc. The one thing that is not so good is that I...

Cyprus with Babies - Limassol. Baby equipment hire company.

Advantages: friendly service, local company, great idea for tourists with babies and cyprus residents
Disadvantages: they only work in limassol

...We found a really helpful company just recently when family came for their holidays to Limassol. We had our grandson coming to visit and needed a travel cot and a high chair. A search on a local website pointed us in the direction of Cyprus with Babies! They hire out baby equipment in the Limassol tourist area, which was great. We hired a travel cot which arrived in a bag and was set up in just a few minutes by the english staff who delivered it. We also got an extra padded mattress, a fitted bottom sheet, a top sheet and a lovely baby blanket. They don't provide pillows. Everything looked brand new and was spotlessly clean. The high chair folded almost flat so could be put out of the way when we didn't need to use it and went into a couple of different positions in case our grandson was sleepy, he could lie back. There were straps...

Limassol

Advantages: Great base for visiting the tourist sites. Has a fantastic waterpark
Disadvantages: Not really a disadvantage but more like a city in parts than an actual tourist resort

...– the rest have tiny balconies!) We spent the first afternoon looking for a local agent to arrange our excursions with and found West End Travel beside the BP station on the main road which stretches the length of the resort of Limassol, just a few minutes walk from Woolworth’s. This agency is run by an English woman who sells all the excursions at 2 or 3 Cyprus Pounds cheaper than all the other agencies. She also has a shop in Paphos. We booked trips to the Troodos Mountains, The Baths of Aphrodite and Coral Bay, Nicosia, The Lefkothea Evening Cruise and the Watermania Waterpark all costing around £C6.50 (there are approx. 88 Cypriot Cents to the £1 sterling) except for the waterpark which cost £C10 for entrance only, and the evening cruise which cost £C17 including a buffet dinner. The Argos representative in our hotel was...

Limassol Life and Soul

Advantages: Central Location, beaches, good night life, tradition, good resturants
Disadvantages: 52 days of rain

...a lovely shopping area and has stores such as Essence, Top Shop etc as well as the tourist shops. Well if you make it to Limassol call in to see me. I'll either be on one of the small cove beaches or in the Smugglers pub drinking a Brandy Sour and putting the world to rights with the owner Vas. I'll be happy to point out lots more interesting places that you might like. Happy Holidays. A quick ps. i have been asked to add more content to this review which I have now done. It is very difficult as I could probably write a book on Cyprus. However I am never going to be able to put something in for everyone. I'm not the Cyprus Tourist Board but just wanted to give my account of Cyprus and let people see the good things there are to do here....

Limassol

Advantages: friendly citizens
Disadvantages: difficult parking

...not restrict anybody of visiting it. In fact, there are held many concerts, theatres etc. British Base it there as Cyprus was a british colony in the past. Limassol is known in Cyprus as the main city of entertainment, of night life, of culture and generally of everything. The relations with foreigners who come through the port, made the citizens very kind persons and easy approachable. Limassol citizens enjoy a lot the good food, the quality in entertainment and that's why wherever you go, you'll find a pleasure atmosphere either this is a restaurant or a club or even just a shop. In Limassol, many festivals are held during the year, but there are 2 main festivals which all citizens are prepared from the last year in order to be ready. The first is the Carnival which even if it is held all over Cyprus, in Limassol (as we said before...

Limassol - something for everyone

Advantages: Good choice of 4 and 5 star hotels, excellent facilites, excellent transport system, good base
Disadvantages: If you prefer a typical package holiday resort this may not be for you

..., plus during the day you can shop around the Old Town where you'll find some interesting artisan shops and local goods. There are plans to build a large marina in Limassol, although already one located at the St Raphael hotel, and this will surely increase tourism. I do feel Limassol is very underated as a tourist resort, probably because it is also a thriving commercial and residential town and not your typical Spanish / Greek holiday resort....its open all year round too. Very good base, you can explore the rest of the island comfotably from here, nowhere is too far away. Its also only around 45 minutes from either Paphos or Larnaca airport. The best beaches around the area are Ladies Mile and Governors Beach, for those of you who dont want to miss your local nights out there are plenty or Irish and English bars some of them offering...

A City with a Beach

Advantages: Good touring base, plenty to do
Disadvantages: Busy town with heavy traffic

...in use until next year when the currency will become the Euro. Shops and restaurants displayed prices in both currencies when I was there. The exchange rate I was getting at the time was 81 Cyprus cents to the pound sterling. The prices I mention from here on are in Cyprus pounds, so add about 20 to 25 per cent to convert to sterling. **Accommodation** Limassol has every type of accommodation to suit every pocket. The old town/city centre area seemed to be the place to go for smaller hotels and also for apartments in older, traditional Cypriot buildings. The tourist area on the east side of town has massive modern hotels, some of them right on the beach and some carrying four and five star ratings, as well as big purpose-built holiday apartment blocks. **Services and Sanitation** The Limassol tap water is safe to drink. Some places...

Limassol Castle - Well Worth a Visit

Advantages: Cheap to visit, very atmospheric
Disadvantages: Only an hour's worth of stuff to see

...some atmosphere. The real attraction for me that day was the beautiful seafront area within 10 minute walk from the Castle which I would happily visit again. I wouldn?t say it?s worth a trip to the area just to see the Castle but to wander around the quaint shops nearby selling souvenir items and the seafront; it?s a good day trip if you have run out of other attractions to see in Cyprus. OVERALL RATING Considering the price we paid it was worth the visit. I?d say 75% of the items on display were not of appeal to me personally but that?s probably just me lacking in cultural appreciation! The 25% that I did enjoy seeing made it more than worthwhile for me, so I?m happy to give Limassol Castle a decent 4 out of 5 stars. WHERE IS IT? Limassol Castle is situated at Richard and Berengaria Street, Limassol, Cyprus...

An introduction to the marvel of Limassol

Advantages: something for all the family
Disadvantages: about an hour from larnaca/paphos airports

...Limassol is a place I have travelled to with family and friends for the last 5/6 years. My parents have a holiday home there which is in the heart of Limassol approximately 300 metres from the tourist beach. Cyprus as a whole country is full of very friendly people who love the English. Most Cypriots will speak English but if you try any Greek they will fall over themselves with appreciation for your efforts! (See below for some useful words!). Limassol is pretty much guaranteed to have hot sun for most parts of the year with August best to be avoided as can get too hot to go out and very uncomfortable. There is the Old town part of Limassol which is very traditional and full of markets and little shops where you can pick up fantastic oil based paintings at very good prices. The tourist beach is very clean and you can hire sunbeds...

Crusader Beach Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus

Advantages: Beach front, great price, central location
Disadvantages: Dining area and gneral hotel facilities

...! Not nice! The poolside bar is quite expensive compared to other bars in the areas (especially the Irish bar and bar next door). 4. Reception. Be prepared for a wait! I\'m sure that \'just a minute\' has a whole new meaning in Cyprus. Ok once you\'re used to it. Now the Good Stuff: 1. Beach Front location - and I really do mean that! Tilt your head over the bannister at the foot of the swimming pool and you drop into the sea! There\'s not much of a beach per say, but just to the right as you look out to sea is a nice little sheltered inlet with some dark sand. 2. Food on your doorstep. This hotel is literally in the heart of Limassol. As you come out of the hotel you have a huge range of restaurants to the right. Reasonably priced and many have a 2/3 course special. 3. Bars - again, all around you. One good one is next door to...
