The Stunning City Of Salzburg
Advantages: beautiful scenery, superb transport system, lots of things to see
Disadvantages: restaurants close quite early, not much veggie food
...of shops ranging from shoe shops to little traditional shops selling old style Austrian clothing. We found that many of the shops were designer shops so the goods were fairly expensive. For example, I was looking to buy a new bag and saw a one I liked, however, when I looked at the price tag, I was amazed to discover that it cost over £300! So obviously I didn't get my new bag! As mentioned the town is fairly large and spread over a wide area but as there are regular bus stops, you can choose where to get off so do not have to walk if you don't wish to. I must admit, we do quite a bit of walking but we literally went to bed every night shattered from all the walking during the day.
There is a large river running through the middle of Salzburg, on one side there is 'New Town' and the other side is called 'Old Town'. There are several...

Salzburg, the sound of Mozart...music
Advantages: Stunning scenery, wonderful place
Disadvantages: not any
...Getreidegasse and one day later he started the tourism trend by going to the Cathedral and gaining the honourable name of Johannes Chrisostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart at his christening.
With such a musical name it was always on the cards that he would take the world by storm and create 600 musical pieces from little arias to historic operas. One thing for sure, in his short life he must have been a very busy musician and ''chocolatier''! Well, in today's Salzburg you see many red and gold chocolate creations - Mozart Balls abound -- whole shops of just Mozart-related chocolates, you have to ask the question ''Did he love chocolate or did he not?'' Perhaps that is what brought him to an early grave as he died just 35 years old but he had packed a lot into his time: performed for royal families in Vienna, Paris and London, awarded "Knight...

Salzburg Salt Mines
Advantages: Excellent value for money, interesting, good fun
Disadvantages: A little bit out of town
...When my boyfriend and I visited Salzburg in Austria, we decided to take a trip to see the Salt Mines. Getting there was very simple when using the Salzburg card and this also mean that the transport was free too (as the Salzburg Card cover this!).
Arriving At The Salt Mines
Once you arrive at the Salt Mines, which are well signposted, you need to book in at the reception. You pay here and the price was about £3 each which was very reasonable. Once you have paid, you are taken through into a warehouse type building. In here you can leave any valuables such as bags and shopping etc. You are then given some traditional mining clothes to put on. These consisted of a massive pair of baggy white trousers for the girls and dark blue trousers for the boys. You are both then given a blue jumper type thing and a leather pouch which sits...

The Beautiful Salzburg
Advantages: This may make you want to see Salzburg yourself
Disadvantages: I don't think there are any
...I have been to Salzburg 3 times, all in December. The first 2 times I went was with my Secondary School on ski trips in Schladming which is about a 20 minute drive from Salzburg I think. Austria is an excellent place to ski; the views from the mountains are just amazing. I skied down the Planai hundreds of times which are, if I remember correctly the highest or steepest down hill slope in the world (that you can ski down); please correct me if I am wrong. There is a small bar/restaurant at the top which I have eaten and drank in many times before flying down the slopes. The food in Austria is very different but also very tasty and the drinks are very strong, hehehe!!
Each time I have been I have shopped in Salzburg. I don't know what it is like at other times of the year but in December it is very beautiful, especially if it...

Getreidegasse Salzburg - It will attract you too!
Advantages: One of the most beautiful and famous shopping lanes in the country
Disadvantages: Can get extremely busy during the summer; expensive
....
The Mozarts lived in 9 Getreidegasse from 1747 to 1773, and their son Wolfgang Amadeus was born there in 1756.
Today, the home of the Mozart family is a museum where famous exhibits are displayed.
Apart from shops you'll also find many flats which are occupied by mainly students as the University is only a few steps away.
Most locals from Salzburg, however, know how to avoid the Getreidegasse at least during the summer months.
If you would rather avoid the busy times then you should aim to visit this street first thing in the morning as it's fairly quiet then.
Getreidegasse is a pedestrian-only zone which makes it fairly safe.
You will also find lots of stands selling traditional Austrian goodies and gifts.
There are plenty of restraurants and take-aways available to satisfy your hunger.
Check out the little idyllic...

Top of the shops.............
Advantages: see above
Disadvantages: see above
...Advantages: Loads of stuff available, good prices
Disadvantages: can get busy at christmas time so much so people abandon their shopping
I am a huge Asda fan, it's where I do most of my shopping and I know where everything is which makes it easier when dragging 3 kiddies along with you!
In my local Asda we have a photo centre, cafe, George, electricals, homewear, toys, bakery, pizzaria, rottisary (chicken place lol), fresh meats counter and all the usual foody aisles plus we have a petrol station, cash machines and bus stop. It's the largest shopping store we have although we do have a Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Co-Op, Farm Foods and Iceland.
I have never had a bad experience with Asda and the stock is usually replenished quite quickly! They have such a huge range that I know I can do my weekly shop and more there.
Everything...

shopping heaven
Advantages: great bargains
Disadvantages: queues
...Primark is one of the greatest shops that i find that every time i go in there you can guarantee that i will come out having brought something. When you go into Primark you are guaranteed that you will always find a bargain and at the fraction of the cost of any other shops.
Primark has come on in leaps and bounds over the years it stocks a greater range of items that are more in line with the fashions of today and at a great price.
A few years ago i would never have even thought to go to Primark, but as they finally put one in my local town centre i always have a look for a bargain.
Primark stocks everything from ladies, mens , childrens and homeware.
In the ladies section you will find shoes, bags, jewellery, t shirts, lingerie, jeans, trousers, skirts, jumpers, jackets and night wear.
In the mens sections you have jeans...

Shopping with Teenagers
Advantages: Sells every item of clothing possible
Disadvantages: Busy at peak times
...Clothes shopping is never an easy task when you have kids in tow. It doesn?t matter if they?re toddlers, young or teenagers, they are still a pain in the proverbial backside when you?re trying to look round the shops and I can guarantee that my teenage son will be moaning and groaning within half an hour when we go shopping.
Back in the Summer we decided to brave the busy Ipswich shopping centre, the prime motive to get the kids kitted out for the new school term. After we?d paid the perfunctory visit to the school clothing department in Debenhams we set off down the street to have a wander round the shops. I was absolutely amazed then my son stopped outside Primark and suggested we had a look inside. Teenagers are renowned for wanting designer labels aren?t they? I propelled him inside quick as a flash, before he could see...

Guilt free shopping
Advantages: Affordable clothes and accessories
Disadvantages: Very busy, occasionally poor quality, random sizing!
...this anywhere else.
I tend to buy all my plain t-shirts from Primark. At £3 a pop, it's not such a great concern if they don't last very long, nor is it a worry for fashion followers who want to keep up with the latest trends. Primark is so affordable that entire outfits can be bought for less than half the price of highstreet stores. It has challenged other places to justify their prices and, I imagine, has posed quite a threat to a number of more expensive places.
THE DISADVANTAGES
This may be a big shop with plenty of variety, but it has got a little too big for its boots. There are too many customers and too few staff. Queues are a massive issue in this busy department store and, whilst some things are cheap enough for people to risk them not fitting, you can be waiting for up to an hour in busy periods at the Customer Service...
