GAP ..... shop of choice

Advantages: Good quality, good style, good prices
Disadvantages: short and wide

...Gap is probably my favourite clothes shop. You always know, if you decide to wander into one of the many nearby Gap shops, that there will be cheap, good quality, nice looking assistants...woops, make that clothes, for you to buy. Seriously, I don't think I have ever paid full price for anything at Gap - why would I? Half the shop is a sale rail. I'm not complaining though. The Clothes Gap sells pretty much everything. Tops, Jackets, trousers, jeans, male and female, little accessories, the legendary khakis.....pretty much everything but shoes. I tend to either buy t-shirts or trousers from Gap, and they are always good quality and wash well. The only thing I have noticed about Gap tops is that they seem to be short and wide - though I believe this is because Americans are short and fat. I dunno. Availability Gap is...

Bridging the GAP

Advantages: Quality clothes which endure wash after wash
Disadvantages: Clothes may seem expensive to some

...Up until recently l had not really bothered about Gap - l simply used the store in Belfast as a short cut into the CastleCourt shopping centre. One-day l decided ld stop and take a look. The Belfast Store is extremely busy and crams a lot into a small space - women’s wear, men’s wear and junior sizes. A separate store exists for babies and toddlers. (I must emphasis that this is only the case in the Belfast Store - other stores have everything under one roof) Clothes may seem expensive but l do not mind paying that little bit extra when it comes to quality. I find Gap clothes to have that edge over others. They wash well, keep their shape and endure well! The style (for women anyway!) is mostly casual - with their hooded sweatshirts, jeans, tee shirts and baseball caps. I bought a pair of Gap jeans on Friday...

Happy Shopping in Gap

Advantages: Colour range
Disadvantages: they seem to stock more in large sizes than small sizes

...I buy more clothes in Gap than in any other clothes shop. They make confortable, easy to wear clothes in a wide range of colours, sizes and designs. Buying trousers can be confusing because they are in American sizes. This means you need to take 4 away from your clothes size, although i take away 6 because otherwise i find that i end up with trousers that are to big for me! The customer service in all the stores i have been in has been excellent, i have never had to queue for very long and usually i can find the item of clothes i want in the colour and size i want. It has to be said that the ease of shopping in Gap doesn't come cheap, but they always have some bargins in store. For example I got a lovely pair of flared jeans last year for £7.50 reduced from £40 and just before christmas i got a lovely soft grey fleece for £9...

Great GAP tips

Advantages: Classic items, quality products, good choice and price
Disadvantages: Number of stores, some items pricey, can be a bit of a jumbe sale at sale time

...As there are already 30+ GAP reviews I wont go into too much detail about what GAP is but hopefully I will provide you with some helpful tips for a successful shopping trip. 1. Size GAP women's clothes are sized in American sizing which can be very confusing as MOST items don't actually tell you they're not UK sizes. American sizes are two sizes smaller than UK sizes so if you are usually a UK 12 in US sizes you will be an 8. (this is great for moral when you realise for the first time in years that the size on the label is in single figures!) UK US 6 2 8 4 10 6 12 8 14 10 16 12 18 14 Small, medium and large sizes tend to be as usual. Often is a sale you will find sizes 0 and 1 - these sizes usually aren't available in the UK - they are smaller than a UK size 6...

Gap all the way

Advantages: excellent stores

...I think Gap shops are brilliant for quality and if you save up it will be well worth the extra money you may have had to pay. I went to the Trafford Centre and they had a really good Gap store and although, the items are quite expensive, they looked very good on display, tempting enough to go in and have a look. I bought a blue hooded Gap top which was for £40, it was nicely fitted and was nice and warm. The range was so impressive, even though I wanted to buy more items I had to stop myself as money was running out. I bought my younger cousin Gap cap, which was really nice, and although he wasn’t there I think he will like it. The after sales service was really good and I was informed that as long as I kept my receipt the good could be returned. There was a lot for me to chose from so that was good. How can you not...

Wonderful Gap

...I am always attracted to the gap shops, I just can’t help myself, whether it be I’m shopping for myself or my cousin. I always end up buying something from the store. I like buying jeans from their as I like the way they are cut, and they usually last a long time. The store usually is split into two sections, whereby they have an adult department and children’s one. I always think they have a more men’s range than a woman’s, or that maybe me, because I feel there is not enough to chose from. Gap clothes are not cheap by any means, but I think they are well worth the price as you can tell the are quality. One of the BEST shops in the whole world

Advantages: excellent clothes,colours, great customer service, good storelayout
Disadvantages: prices are often high, American pricing can be difficult to translate into english sizing

...into a store and try and find something in your size. America work on a scale that starts at 1. Some of the cothes have UK sizes printed too, and I feel a bit of consistency with the printed sizes would definitely benefit and indeed encourage customers to try and to buy. However, the staff are keen to help you translate the sizes. The staff are very friendly, helpful and approachable. The store layout gives you lots of space to move around, so you feel completely uninhibited. It also gives you the opportunity to see more of what is on offer around the shop. It gives greater accesibility to wheelchairs and pushchairs too. Products are clearly priced, especially those in the sales. It is bright and well lit so you can see clearly, and there are no dark hanging spaces. Everything is on full frontal display! And of course, GAPs clothing...

Watch for the Gap

Gap - helpful staff, high prices, good sales

Advantages: Very helpful staff, great reductions in sale.
Disadvantages: Expensive for casual clothes.

...I usually steer clear of Gap simply because I find their prices too high. Most of their clothes are casual, and I don't think that £50 for a pair of casual trousers is a reasonable price when you can get them so much cheaper elsewhere. However, I have been shopping there for jeans and have found the staff to be extremely helpful. Nothing is too much trouble - one changing room assistant must have brought about ten pairs of jeans in for me and my friend and was really helpful and honest in telling us what looked good and what didn't. I think they work on a commission basis, so this could explain it, but whatever the reason it is refreshing to be served by such friendly, helpful people. Gap is great believe the hype

Advantages: Good clothes, something for everyone
Disadvantages: nothing for really going out

...I love Gap it's magical. They really are a no fuss store, any Gap I have entered has been relaxed and helpful and their clothes are great. The style could really be described as happy, it almost seems like they want you to enjoy wearing their clothes. They also suit an amazingly diverse crowd of people. Nothing they do is resricted to one colour, it makes shopping for basics easy. I have many friends who have found a jumper that suits them and returned to buy it in three other colours. They also stock a good size range. Often you hear about people complaining about their not being large enough sizes but people keep quiet about the lack of smaller sizes- I have found that Gap deals with both quite subtly. Their sizing system however may present a problem, it's meant to be American and to get your american size you should take four away...
