Girona Airport- still another hour to Barcelona!
Advantages: Could get cheap flights here, clean and well-run
Disadvantages: Not really Barcelona as it is billed, lack of seating
...Cheeky Ryanair! Although they do fly to the city of Barcelona, they bill their flights to Girona as "Girona (Barcelona)" even though it is more than an hour's drive down the motorway to the larger city. Just as well my flights were cheap as the return coach fare to Barcelona costs Euro12 per adult single and Euro21 return. Girona Airport is situated 103 Kilometres north of Barcelona (approximately 64 miles).
In fact, the airport bills itself as "Girona - Costa Brava" and, indeed, many of the passengers on our flight did not board the coach to Barcelona but appeared to be picking up hire cars to head for resorts on the coast. (Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar are nearby). Budget and economy airlines from across Europe use this airport from fifty-five airports. Holiday charters use the airport too.
The airport terminal building was...

ciutat de girona
Advantages: excellent location, beautiful rooms, friendly staff, good food
Disadvantages: tv mainly in spanish
...My partner and I visited Girona in May 2007. We had pre booked the Ciutat de Girona but we weren't at all sure of what to expect. We travelled by bus from the airport to Girona bus station, (approx. 20minutes), and from there we took a taxi to the hotel which was about a 5minutes drive. There are, I believe, 2 buses an hour from the airport. The cost was around £2 i think.
Our first impression of the hotel was that it was spotless and stylish, couldn't have been more central as it was right in the heart of the old town. The reception area was modern, bright and comfortable though minimalistic. The free mini bar and welcome drink ( I believe it was a local wine) with some biscuits were much appreciated. A lift took us up to our floor. The corridor was quiet, and had a lush feel to it. Paintings on the large wall spaces.

Top of the shops.............
Advantages: see above
Disadvantages: see above
...Advantages: Loads of stuff available, good prices
Disadvantages: can get busy at christmas time so much so people abandon their shopping
I am a huge Asda fan, it's where I do most of my shopping and I know where everything is which makes it easier when dragging 3 kiddies along with you!
In my local Asda we have a photo centre, cafe, George, electricals, homewear, toys, bakery, pizzaria, rottisary (chicken place lol), fresh meats counter and all the usual foody aisles plus we have a petrol station, cash machines and bus stop. It's the largest shopping store we have although we do have a Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Co-Op, Farm Foods and Iceland.
I have never had a bad experience with Asda and the stock is usually replenished quite quickly! They have such a huge range that I know I can do my weekly shop and more there.
Everything...

A taste of Spain
Advantages: Nice weather, pretty cheap
Disadvantages: Almost like being home because of a large Norwegian community
...a couple of English ladies that could translate some of the menu for us so that we could get something to eat :-). After a few hours we came to the little town of Guadalest. This city contains a fortified monastery which I think was ruined by an earthquake but it was rebuilt. Anyway, it looks very picturesque with the old buildings and the mountains in the background. You have to pay a little to get inside the castle itself but you can walk around on parts on the property. There are little shops selling souvenirs and stupid stuff like museum of microscopic things :-).
Traffic in Spain
Driving in Spain was pretty easy?just keep an eye on all the people on little scooters and light motorcycles. I read that the age limit for driving a bike has been raised from 14 to 16 now but I?m not sure that everyone followed this rule. Most bikers did...

WHAT A VENTURA IN SPAIN !! (Hopefully in the right place now!!)
Advantages: Endless, a wonderfulexperience for all ages.
Disadvantages: A little hilly if you are bad on your feet
.... The airports for the resort are10 minutes away at Reus airport, 1 hour Barcelona airport and 2 hours Girona airport. There is also a train station for Port Aventura which has connections to Barcelona and Salou.
Portaventura resort includes 3 hotels, a beach club and a waterpark with the latest new slides. The 3 hotels are themed and landscaped wonderfully and each has its own special features. The waterpark includes 5 main slides, a lazy river, a volleyball court and a wave pool.
MY EXPERIENCES
We travelled to PortAventura for a week in October in the Halloween season.
INCREDIBLE!!
Anyone who has been to Disneyland Paris and has seen the decorations and themes will be surprised to know that PortAventura does it 10 times better!!
Every hotel, restaurant, shop and ride was based on Halloween and my goodness me the characters...

A beautifull walk near San Jose Spain
Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: you really need a car
...A pretty cove and a beautiful walk near San José Spain
We went on holiday to San José in Almeria Spain this Easter hols. This is a description of one of the best bays/beaches we found and a good coastal walk.
We used the tourist hiking map Capo de Gata-Nijar (1:50.000 same scale as an standard OS map here) which we bought from the tourist information in San José, it comes with an accompanying book about the routes marked on the map. It also contained information about camping, apartments and other local information in Spanish. Dearly beloved can read some Spanish and I found I could follow a lot of the instructions fairly simply, you may be able to get an English copy. I will check this out .We found this a very good map and guide I would certainly recommend it.
One morning we set out in our hire car, with a loaf of bread, some...

Advantages: Lot to do and see, coastline of beaches, and lots of good shops to the expensive to the cheap.

One of the most beautiful cities in Europe
Barcelona Spain is one of the biggest influences that has ever been met, there is everything that you could desire there, from a walk to the park to the beaches to the night life the Music festivals, the Tapas, the coast and the shops, it is endless, Barcelona is a place of opportunity with its beautiful buildings and history, a short stay would never be enough to cover all there are numbers of attractions, The main street La Rambla is amazing with its flower stalls which give the la rambla a gorgeous array of color and .flavor There are pet stalls with baby rabbits, turtles , terrapins, birds and all childrens furry friends, with souvenir store's and high street shops on the road side restaurants are also on the la rambla where you can sit and watch all...

LOST IN SPAIN...
Advantages: BEAUTIFUL PLACE - UNSPOILED - TRANQUIL - CLIMATE
Disadvantages: SOMETIMES UNKEPT - NEEDS A BIT OF GOVERNMENT MONEY SPENDING ON IT!
...Well, I’m writing this on New Years Eve, in the office, but totally bored as none of my customers are in their offices so I can’t phone them to chase them for their missing adverts…*sigh*
Anyway, my thoughts turned to holidays, like they do at times like this!!
In 2002 I went to Seville, Spain. I have traveled quite a bit but not really in Europe much so I didn’t know what to expect. Seville is a beautiful town – very unspoiled. If you’re looking for the ‘real Spain’ I suggest Seville and we went at an excellent time weatherwise – not too hot or cold.
We spent 5 days there in May 2002, at the Hotel San Gil – this is a 4 star hotel, where most of the rooms are suites, sadly we had one of the very few double rooms there.
They serve breakfast and ‘bar snacks...

shopping heaven
Advantages: great bargains
Disadvantages: queues
...Primark is one of the greatest shops that i find that every time i go in there you can guarantee that i will come out having brought something. When you go into Primark you are guaranteed that you will always find a bargain and at the fraction of the cost of any other shops.
Primark has come on in leaps and bounds over the years it stocks a greater range of items that are more in line with the fashions of today and at a great price.
A few years ago i would never have even thought to go to Primark, but as they finally put one in my local town centre i always have a look for a bargain.
Primark stocks everything from ladies, mens , childrens and homeware.
In the ladies section you will find shoes, bags, jewellery, t shirts, lingerie, jeans, trousers, skirts, jumpers, jackets and night wear.
In the mens sections you have jeans...
