Shure SM58 Microphone? Let's rock!

Advantages: Solidly made, excellent sound.
Disadvantages: Doesn't come with a record deal

...I was using Shure microphones in bands back in 1972 and they were noticeably tough and durable with their steel bodies. They had a great reputation even then although how good they sounded in the loud rock bands I was in is a matter best left to history. 'Ziggeeeeeeeee - plaaaaaaaaaaayed gui- tar-ar-arrrrrr!' Without the need for messing around with batteries like you'd get with a mike requiring an active power source or ghost power off a mixer, this is plug-and-go simplicity. It just works really well and requires no servicing or fussing about with. The SM57 is the uni-directional model shaped like a tube. This is the one shaped like a lollipop which means a lot to me because my mother was a lollipop lady. By that I mean that she had a long thin body and a big sticky head. The SM58 gives a lovely clear recording that puts...

Opinion Of The Shure SM 58 Microphone

Advantages: Excellent Quality
Disadvantages: Heavy so don't try throwing it into the audience

...The Shure SM58 is one of the best made close vocal microphones in existence. It is quite heavy but very durable with a tungsten steel shaft coated in plastic to give it good grip. The Shure series of microphones have been going for years and are well know for their reliability. All the super groups have used them at some point. I still see people using cheap plastic rubbish. The Shure is a dynamic omnidirectional microphone which only picks up your voice and not any background noise. It is well shielded so that it is a good choice for close vocals. All in all a great piece of equipment....

Review of Shure SM 58 LC

A good reliable microphone.

Advantages: Good quality, no drivers, universal, long, durable.
Disadvantages: Not great for sophisticated recording.

...A very fine computer microphone that has lasted me seven years so far with no issues of compatibility, control, volume or quality. It is light, with a very sleek design. The microphone stick itself can be detached from its base and used as a hand held device but whilst it can be entirely dismantled with ease (so that it is just a mic on the end of a wire,) the stick itself is solid and cannot be manipulated, so should the user wish to physically attach it to their computer, they would probably find it necessary to manoevre themselves so that they are speaking directly into it, as well as using the provided pad for doing so,. -- Due to its lack of malleability, and absence of an earphone, it is not possible to use this product as a headset. For what it is, it is an outstandingly reliable and durable piece of equipment which is...

SHURE to impress

Advantages: very good sound across the range
Disadvantages: A bit tinny with guitar recordings

...This is a lovely little mic ideal for home recording. I'm not gonna bore you with the spec, but rather how does the recording quality sounds. Well while its obviously not up there with condensor mic's its a good solid choice for people who are recording voice and guitars on a home recording system. only problem I have encountered is the guitar sounds a bit tinny when I use this mic. I know I can tweek this through the mixing desk, but I own a beautiful Yamaha acoustic and I want its full resonance to be captured without comprimising the sound through digital mixing. Essentially this is not a major problem with the SHURE SM58 but I guess highlights the reason behind paying that bit more for a SHURE rather than going for a cheaper alternative. Another note is I've suffered hardley any feedback with this mic, which is good news when...

Shure thing

Advantages: Robust
Disadvantages: Does not give the user ability to sing

...I have been using the same SM58 for nearly 10 years (and even then it wasn't brand new) in that time it has been subjected to all manner of phlegm, drunken (and un-requested) guest vocalists, alcohol spills and cigarette smoke and it still works beautifully. THE mic of choice for live performances, it has a great sound and is very durable. Admittedly it now has a slightly duller sound than the SM58 recently purchased by the guitarist in the band. but until the day it is broken beyond repair or lost I will remain faithfull to it - and would rush straight out to buy a new one. Value for money, quality, reliability the Shure SM58 has all of these qualities in spades. A must have for any serious musician...

These sound good, to be Shure!

Advantages: Not expensive, crisp sound.
Disadvantages: Bit fiddly at first

...Shure SE110 Sound Isolating Earphones ~~Background~~ I have been meaning to buy some 'in ear' earphones for some time for use with my iPod, especially for use when going on walks or bike rides. I have headphones which are fine for home use, but find when outside, external noise spoils my enjoyment. So I had a budget (less than £100) and I knew that I wanted in ear phones, and I did not want 'bass driven' earphones, as so many are. I should explain before I go any further what I mean by 'in ear' earphones, as all earphones are in ear in one way or another. The standard iPod earphones 'sit' just inside the ear; are one fit, and often get loose, or fit unevenly (as we all have slightly different ear sizes), they do not reduce or cancel out external noise. This applies to most standard earphones. 'In ear' earphones sit...

Lets talk microphones.

Advantages: High quality mic with background noise reduction.
Disadvantages: The screen adapter is not suited for thin screens.

...The Labtec Verse 534 Microphone is a piece of essential equipment for anyone from the highly successful businessman to the average student looking to talk to people over the Internet. The Labtec Verse 534 Microphone is perfect for use with voice over IP applications or instant messaging applications as the Labtec Verse 534 Microphone features background noise technology to filter out background noise. The background noise filtration technology is quite good as it is capable of reducing the amount of background noise such as other voices and machines however from personal experience I find that the Labtec Verse 534 Microphone does pick up music from my Technika TA-05 headphones if I have the music up too loud (which is quite often lol). The Labtec Verse 534 Microphone connects to the pc through the mic port that most pc and laptops...

A sure-fire bet with Shure SM 58 LC mic!

Advantages: Great professional sounding mike for under £100
Disadvantages: Its only disadvantage is its not the wireless version for this price ;-)

...~~~The product itself~~~ The product itself is a shure SM 58 LC professional microphone for vocal singing. ~~~Make & model~~~ It is one of the most recognisable microphone's on the market with its graphite grey body and dull silver head. It comes complete with a mike stand holder and a soft case, as well as the box it is supplied with. I purposely bought this model without the on/off switch as a friend told me he had some trouble with a switch on a Shure, (although it was after ten years of solid use with a hired pa system). It is availabe to buy with an on/off switch though if that's what you prefer. ~~~Sound Quality~~~ Fantastic. I've been complimented so many times on how good a sound i get out of this mic. I plugged her in and off she went, no feedback, crisp clear sound, in fact she was so good i vowed to cherish her...

Fantastic Bass Drum Microphone

Advantages: Tailored EQ Curve, Reliable, Sturdy + Good Looks
Disadvantages: Lacking a little in mid for some applications

...The Shure Beta 52 is my preferred dynamic bass drum microphone, for both live and studio use. It provides a focused, punchy sound which is ideal for rock and pop bass drum sounds. It is also effective on sources such as bass guitar amplifiers and other bass instruments. Sound: The sound of this microphone is in no way 'natural', so if you're trying to achieve a perfectly true representation of the sound of a drum kit, this microphone may not be ideal. The frequency response is tailored to have a significant boost below 300Hz (variable in accordance with proximity effect) and also has a peak in the high mids. This gives it an almost 'mid scooped' sound when placed close to source sounds (such as inside a kick drum) but not in a bad way. It creates an immediatly usable sound which is particularly useful in live sound situations, but...

Great microphone

Advantages: Excellent sound quality, on/off button. Plug and play
Disadvantages: Picks up speaker echo slightly

...An excellent little pc microphone. I picked up one of these from ebay after reading reviews about it and it's definetly the best microphone i've ever used so far. Very crisp sound quality, excellent for the voice acting work i do, and also voice chats. Only downside is it slightly picks up my speakers sound on voice chat. Overall though i'd high recommend this thing. The design of it is a little weird shaped, but it does the job. It definetly stays put in one spot even if you accidentally knock it. No drives are required for it, just plug in and go. Features a little on / off switch on it too, which is a nice touch as desktop microphones rarely have this feature on them....
