Canal d' Amour in Sidari
Advantages: great friendly locals, cheap to purchase things, etc
Disadvantages: a little bit of rain
...This year was the first time that I have been to Corfu and the third time I have been in Greece as I have only generally been to Spain of France.
On this occasion, I decided that I needed a change of scenery to another island and went to Sidari in Corfu with once again Thomson Travel. I stayed in the Canal d’ Amour area of Sidari where there are little private beaches that fill up very fast. Talking to many people, this was found to be the nicest part of the island.
I went this year on the 31st of August for a two-week holiday with my parents so I had the last week of high season and the first week of mid season. Between the two weeks of being there, there was a big difference with the amount of people. As I went during high season, the shops were not giving offers to encourage people to spend their money and the atmosphere...

Sidari, Corfu - a great place to visit
Advantages: Great restaurants, pubs and beach
Disadvantages:
...If you?re looking for a great ?couple? holiday, then I can recommend Sidari in Corfu as a place where you?ll find loads to do and all that you need to have a brilliant holiday (provided you?ve got the right partner!). You?ll also find sun, sea and sand and a gorgeous beach where, if you?re feeling adventurous, you can try out some cool water sports.
You?ll find good food in the restaurants in Sidari and, in my favourite, the ?3 Little Pigs?, you also get entertained with Greek dancing as you eat your meal. There is a real friendly atmosphere in the bars and for the lads and girls who can?t do without their football, you?ll find that many of the pubs will have the big English football matches on the TV. There are a few nightclubs in the town centre and plenty of shops and small tourist shops which offer trips to places such as ?Corfu...

Brilliant Place, Brilliant People, some annoying points.
Advantages: Loads to do, great weather, lovely people, cheap
Disadvantages: hard to get around, constantly bothered by shop/bar owners.
...I went to Corfu 13th-21st July of this year (2009) with my girlfriend. We stayed at hotel Monika. Sidari is the second largest resort on the island of Corfu after Kavos.
The transfer from the airport takes roughly 1.5-2 hours.
It is a very beautiful place with places to just look out at the ocean or watch the sunset in the evenings but without all the trouble that comes with an 18-30 holiday destination. There are ample things to do in the day, with gorgeous weather you can just lay on one of the beaches or by the pool at your hotel and catch the sun. If you want more to do with your day, there are water sports, boats to rent, loads of shops, bars, restaurants and trips out.
In the evenings you are spoilt for choice with where to eat and we only had one bad experience with our evening meals. Generally I have to say...

Stinky, Busy and Very English.
Advantages: Scenery
Disadvantages: Beaches, Litter.
...Me and my fiancé Dave were in Corfu just last week and although we stayed in a place called Canal D'amour, when we were looking at the brochures it was very attractive that there was a larger and busier resort just a 1km walk away called Sidari. On our second day on holiday we decided to go and have a walk there hoping that the descriptions of bustling shops, restaurants and bars and long golden sandy beach was accurate. We actually visited only twice that holiday and I can only give the place two stars and here is why.
------
First Impressions:
On our way to our actual resort we had to pass through Sidari and from what I remember as I was quite tired on the coach it looked very much like a shanty town. All of the buildings looked like they desperately just needed some paint and the main street had no pavements so people were...

Kalami- Corfu
Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"
...there is pretty much no nightlife, no clubs in sight, you will have to go to Sidari and the likes for that, but that means the place is so quite and peaceful. And there are places to drink, there is a hotel which we called the "pink palace" no idea of the real name, which has a nice big bar and plays some music at night, so if you just want light nightlife, thats an option, but also all of the tavernas are open until late, and will pretty much continue to serve until your ready to leave. And most of the tavernas have special nights when you pay a set price for a "show", which tends to be Greek dancing, and a meal and drink. Which is great fun!!!
Corfu is a beautiful place, or parts of it are, but you do have to research where your going, if you like nightlife, and english food and english bars and pubs, then choose somwhere like Sidari. If...

Go it alone - fantastic!!!!!
Advantages: Do what you want to, when you want to......
Disadvantages: Strange at first
...I know there are a lot of reviews about Corfu but I just had to add my "tuppence worth" - as I love the place. I also hope my story of "going it along" will help others to pluck up the courage and go......
"You must be mad", some people said. Others said I was very brave, that they could never do it.
Perhaps I was a little of both, with a touch of determination and desperation thrown in for good measure. What was this awful deed I had done? I had just announced I was going on holiday........ alone.
This is a plight faced by many single women every year, and I was no exception. My husband had died in 1982, leaving me to bring up my children, then aged 4 and 7 years, single-handed. Apart from spending a week at a holiday camp with the children, our holidays had been restricted to visiting parents and in-laws. Much as I wanted to...

Kassiopi - The Loveliest Resort on Corfu!
Advantages: Great Beaches, Friendly People, Fabulous Climate
Disadvantages: Negligible...
...KASSIOPI, CORFU
I spent two weeks in Kassiopi, a little fishing village on the Ionian island of Corfu, in September of this year. And quite frankly, it is such a stunningly gorgeous place that I almost have reservations about promoting it in any way whatsoever ?alas, my altruism got the better of me, so here goes!
WHY KASSIOPI? Having decided on a holiday in Greece, my husband and I considered renting a villa on Corfu, together with our 2 year-old son & my in-laws. Characteristically enough, we ended up leaving things to the very last minute, but when it came to booking it really was a case of last come, best served! The company we used, Meon, had one last, lonely Villa left languishing on its books in all of Corfu for the dates we wanted to travel. This was Villa Apanemia, in Kassiopi, and so Apanemia it was. I'd never even...

Dassia, Corfu
Advantages: Nice Quiet Resort, Very Friendly Locals
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of Kids Attractions.
...The Resort
Dassia is located at the Northern end of the Greek Island of Corfu. The resort is about 1 mile long, through which travels a very busy main road. All the bars, tavernas, restaurants and shops etc are fronting this main road, most of them being located to the right hand side of the road, heading north.
Most of the accommodation is self catering studios and apartments, most of which have a pool, very few have a bar and reception.
There are three big hotels: The Corfu Chandris, The Dassia Chandis and the Magna Grecia.
The Beach
To the left hand side of the road, heading north you will find several dirt tracks, these all lead down to the beach. These dirt tracks are very hard to travel when you are attempting to push a pram, so I presume the same would apply for those accompanying wheelchair users and those who...

FROLICS ON CORFU
Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion
...I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this op on the subject of the island of Corfu, mainly because of the goings on in our holiday accommodation, but I'll try. If you've picked this up from my account list of opinions, then I apologise for having turned it into a mini "Wish You Were Here", but I'm having really excellent fun in digging out the photo albums to rekindle some of the memories.
We spent two weeks on a Mark Warner holiday at the Club Barbati. My husband had a habit of winning the work competitions where the prizes were holidays, so the operators had already been chosen for us, otherwise I'm not sure I'd have booked with them. Not because I think there's anything wrong with them, but they are watersports specialists and I'm one of the world's greatest armchair spectators. Still, we weren't tied to the club, we were free to...

Corel Hotel, Roda Corfu
Advantages: Cheap, good atmosphere
Disadvantages: Old and in need of a tidy up
...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu
INTRO
Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu.
All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu.
LOCATION
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport.
The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location.
THE HOTEL
The hotel is divided up in to...
