American express platinum cashback card.

Advantages: Receive cashback on everyday purchases
Disadvantages: Not accepted everywhere.

...I applied for the american express platinum card mainly being because of the initial offer of the 5% cash back for the first three months. after the three months it then goes to 1.5% which is alright when compared to other cashback cards on the market at the moment. I use my american express basically like a debit card and always always pay it off in full so you can benefit from the cashback. Cashback is paid annually from the date you got accepted for the card which is good because it builds up and you get a nice chunk back (depending on how much you spent on the card). You can only be accepted for an american express platinum card if you are earning atleast £20,000 per annum. American express is actually accepted in more places now than people may think so there are a lot more chances for you to be earning that lovely...

Review of American Express Credit Card

American Express Platinum charge card

Advantages: Travel insurance, priority pass membership, accelarated hotel status and more!
Disadvantages: Limited acceptance within the UK, although this is improving.

...After having had an American Express (AMEX) credit card I was more than happy with the level of service I had been receiving and decided to make the move to their Platinum charge card. The card comes with an annual fee of £300 and includes a whole host of benefits, including comprehensive travel insurance for you, your children, additional Platinum cardholder and 5 supplementary cardholders, (gold or green) and their children up to age 18. The travel insurance includes travel inconvenience cover, which provides you with £150 should your departure be delayed by more than 4 hours, including missed connections, the same amount is payable should your baggage be delayed more than 4 hours, and the same amount again after 48 hours, (excluding your return journey). You also receive free priority pass membership for both you and your...

Airport Express

Advantages: The service
Disadvantages: The timetable (at times)

...People who drive automatically assume that travelling by public transport is HORRID. It takes longer, it's probably more expensive, you have to sit with (get spoken at by) people you don't know and, very quickly, don't like, it's inconvenient?it has, in short, nothing to recommend it. Those of us who don't drive are intrinsically more tolerant of all of the above. We have to be. That doesn?t mean that we aren't fair-minded and capable of writing a critical review when we get rubbish service. In this instance it is fair-mindedness that inspires me to write a review about un-rubbish service. Looking up National Express coaches on the site, I discover that they are not exactly flavour of the month. My experience of them has always been pretty good ? with the exception of the one case where I was just going down with the Kathmandu...

Poorly Expressed

Advantages: It tries to bring a little known hero to light.
Disadvantages: It's hackneyed in all respects.

...?s politically active brother Will. The large number of montages alone requires a lot of scoring, courtesy of Mark Isham. The majority of the arrangements centre around warm, hopeful string refrains. There are also insistent piano arrangements that set the scene, deep bowed cellos and electric guitar with rising brass and drums for Ernie?s first high school game and the usual triumphal brass for victories. However, there seem to be passages of music for virtually every scene, so you filter it out after a while. It also feels as though the composer is trying to blackmail you into feeling whatever emotion he?s pushing. The other soundtrack choices include popular music of the day from black artists, including ?Mojo Working?, and ?What I?d Say?. They add a historical context, but overall the music feels overzealous. ?The Express? is a serviceable...

Nectar Credit Card from American Express

Advantages: NECTAR POINTS GOOD APR
Disadvantages: JUST INTEREST AS WITH ALL CREDIT CARDS

...*** If approved for the Nectar Credit Card before 31 December 2006 you will receive 3,000 Nectar bonus points when the Card is used for the first time, through the nectar website only*** I applied for my Nectar credit card by going to American Express online. through the nectar website. The online application form was very easy to complete. I received my acceptance letter and a courtesy call after a week and was very suprised by the credit limit given as it was massive which could have lasting effects on your life if you got carried away. I was given £14800 there is no annual subscription fee with this credit card i have called american express up once before and they have been very helpful and are very polte When I received my card and pin after about 20 days, which arrived seperatly for security i was able to set up my...

Review of Nectar Credit Card from American Express

Sweet card - but not everyone wants the sugar

Advantages: Extra nectar points, good APR
Disadvantages: Not accepted everywhere

...the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The number of E-stores is growing all the time and now includes things from leisure to finance to music to DVDs etc etc. The list is endless. I noticed the Nectar credit card on the Nectar website. I used to be a sceptical of credit cards - if I don't have the cash then I won't buy. However, carrying a lot of cash and getting mugged whilst on holiday soon put a stop to that! I have now been totally converted and never carry cash. It is not uncommon for me not to even have enought to buy a packet of chewing gum. All I need to know is that whenever I go out I have access to a stupid amount of funds thanks to American Express. When I looked in to the Amex card the first thing I noticed was the 3,000 bonus points credited to the account if the application was accepted. If you apply for one before 31...

Nectar Card

Advantages: Lots of retailers to collect with
Disadvantages: Online points may not equal amount of cashback available elsewhere

...The nectar card is the loyalty card associated with Sainsbury's, however it has since branched out and is affiliated with many companies which allows for maximum point collecting! Let's start with the basics, you get 2 points per pound spent at Sainsburys or 1 point per litre of petrol bought at the Sainsbury's petrol garage. Each point accumulated is worth half a penny, so you need 2 points to equal 1 pence. If you redeem your points in store at Sainbury's then you will need minimum 500 points for £2.50 off o your shopping. Points need to be redeemed in increments of 500. Points can also be collected in other stores, for example Dolland and Aitchinson also give 2 points per pound, as do Homebase. As far as I am aware however, you cannot redeem your points against your total bills in these stores. Points can also be collected...

Review of Nectar Card

Value Reward Credit Card

Advantages: Competitive APR, Nectar Points
Disadvantages: Flimsy Card

...I applied for my Nectar credit card by American Express online. The online application form was extremely easy to fill out and although you don't get an instant decision I received my credit card through the post about three weeks later. Like all credit cards nowadays the card is chip and pin and I received my pin number under seperate cover to lower the chances of fraud. The credit limit i received with my card was huge which can be a plus or minus depending on circumstances. With the Nectar by American Express being a reward card i was a bit wary that this credit card would not be good value but the interest rates are actually very competitive. Firstly for balance transfers made within the first six months of opening your account the rate is 5.9% APR for the life of the balance. This is good as you will not suddenly be hit...

Not Quite an Express

Advantages: Can be an inexpensive way to see the country, frequent service, free wifi on board
Disadvantages: Overcrowding, old trains, journey times slower than 25 years ago

...The east coast mainline is one of the major rail links in the UK, linking London with major cities in Yorkshire, Northumberland and Scotland. Previously operated by GNER, the franchise passed on to National Express in 2007 after GNER?s parent company filed for bankruptcy protection. It was felt that National Express had paid way over the odds for the franchise and sure enough as the recession began to bite, they found themselves in a perilous financial predicament, and upon failing to renegotiate the terms of the franchise with the government, it was announced in June 2009 that the government would be taking the franchise back under state control, with the franchise going back out to tender sometime in 2010. To all intents and purposes however nothing much has changed since the GNER days apart from train liveries and the fact wifi is...

Express Travel

Advantages: punctual, cheap and sometimes entertaining
Disadvantages: can get a little cramped when full

...As a national representative of a charity I knew I would have to travel a lot so needed to find the most cost efficient way of doing so. I had received an NZ2 card when I opened my student account with Barclays but never thought of using it. I popped into my local office and decided to find out more about the benefits of this small card. At that particular time National Express had an offer on their journeys and suggested that I take them up on the offer. I knew that a party was approaching near Heathrow so went ahead and booked. Unfortunately they failed to explain that the ?ANY DESTINATION ONLY 5 POUND? offer did not include travel to airports and obviously Europe. Still with the 30% off with his little card I proceeded with the transaction. As this was the first journey of many I have decided to set out my review with these...
