...The majority of opinions on motor racing circuits at Ciao are about a track as Martin Brundle would describe it, or a race review as one would find in Autosport magazine, let’s face it, chances are you are not going to get a lap round the famous GP circuit there, and how “helpful” are post race reviews? Silverstone is Britain’s most celebrated and international race track, the home of the British Grand Prix. This opinion aims to give some insight to you about a day out at Silverstone, I hope to leave no stone unturned… I have a season Paddock pass for the FIA GT championships and May 11-13 hosted the fourth round of the Eurosport Super Racing Weekend at Silverstone, including action from the FIA GTs, FIA Super Touring cars, FIA SPC and Formula 2000 Renault. Disadvantages: unclear where to go once arrived, no staff around, those that were, were unwelcoming!

Silverstone - My First Ever Review!

Advantages: Great track, lots of extra features and options now
Disadvantages: Access and prices.

...This is the First ever ciao review that I wrote and was appalled at my standard of writing 7 years ago! Therefore I have decided to rewrite it and hopefully get some of those justified but very low marks changed! Silverstone. What is it? Well, its a very famous auto racetrack buried deep in countryside of Northamptonshire that is home to the British Formula 1 Grand Prix. Based on an old Aerodrome from World War 2 (Runway is still there), the track weaves around the leafy lands or middle england with the main complexes all situated centrally. While hosting the British Grand Prix, it also regularly holds other motorsport events such as Porsche Super Cup, British Touring Car and even Superbike meets. As well as the race events, it also hosts its own "Race Experience" days where you too can drive on the famouse bends...

Silverstone 2001 MIKAs First Murrays Last

Advantages: local circuit, centrally located in UK, great races, free car parking
Disadvantages: F1 tickets expensive

...Mention the word Formula One (F1) and your heart starts beating a little faster this is where you will experience high octane, big V10 engines that power the cars reaching up to 12,000rpm going round the track! Awesome! If anyone has never heard an F1 car..it is loud!! Silverstone is one such place where you can see some F1 action come alive! Silverstone

Advantages: The layout of this track means you can see more of the race than any other track.
Disadvantages: British Weather

...Racing, Rock Concerts, Air Displays - Silverstone packs more into it's Grand Prix Weekend than any other race. It's the best show in motorsport at a track which is fast, spectacular and has the largest tradition in the modern era of F1. It's also among the best attended races in the season with a partisan crowd to match those at Monza or Imola. Five wins by British drivers in the last ten years has endured that the thousands of patriotic fans have gone home happy. SilverstoneTek TJ05 Mini server case

Advantages: Large, cable routing solutions, lots of room for expansion, stylish and aluminium
Disadvantages: Heavy, too large, stock fans are pants, inside is a different colour

...build. However this does make the actual case itself pretty damn large creating issues for some users storing or placing it. I ended up having it on top of my desk behind the montior it was so large. It took up half the desk depth wise and the whole of the desk width. This case is availiable with an LCD screen on the front for approximately £20 more including a temperature readout (via temperature probes placed during you building) and fan speed readouts + speed control based on temperatures. You simply plug the fan's 3 pin connectors into the ones linked to the lcd readout. Silverstone tek even included a cable "hook" inside made out of flexible rubber to route your cables through. There is also a large amount of room above the psu (depending on model) again for hiding messy cables. All I can recommend is that you sum up...

The Finn Finishes First

...* The Track * I’ve been there! Silverstone is the only F1 track I have actually stood at breathed air at. And at Silverstone, a flat circuit in the middle of a flat area – there’s an awfully large amount of air moving around to be breathed. The start finish straight at Silverstone is actually one of the moor dull places to watch from. Standing by Copse is an experience though, I was only there for a Super Touring race but the commitment and speed was breath taking, just don’t take a breath when a car goes off or you will inhale stones. Another good place is either side of Maggots. Finally, the grandstands near Woodcote offer a good view of quite a large portion of the track. If you’re taking your homebrew F1 car down the motorway to Silverstone, you’ll want a medium downforce to reach...

British GP - Set It In Stone

Advantages: Great Atmosphere, Fast Cars, Not Just F1
Disadvantages: Very loud, Expensive, Hotel accomodation hard to find

...Around late September 2004 Formula one mogle Bernie Ecclestone announced that the Silverstone, British Grand Prix would be removed from the FIA 2005 race calendar for Formula one. The supposed reasons for this removal were that Silverstone were unable to pay enough for the rights to host the race and that the facilities were very out of date compared to the new tracks of Bahrain and Beijing. This is a great loss to the economy of area around Silverstone as the Grand Prix generates £40,000,000 each year and has been the center piece of motor racing in Britain since the 1950s. In July 2004 I attended the Grand Prix and this is my account of the weekend. Since around March time during my final GCSE year my school were organising a school trip for some reason to the British Grand Prix for sixth formers of which I was not one, but numbers...

Glorified Dirt Track.

Advantages: Will get better.
Disadvantages: Poor facilities.

...When you watch Formula One Grand Prix races all around the world you are impressed by the magnificent grandstands in Sepang, Malaysia, overwhelmed by the atmosphere of Monaco and stunned by the organisation at the Spa circuit in Belgium. So why does Silverstone always look like the poor relation? It is almost impossible to get to Silverstone without being stuck in miles of traffic jams along narrow country lanes. The grandstands are normally temporary structures built out of scaffolding, the toilets are port-a-loos and the car parks are just fields. The whole place has a cheap and unprofessional feel to it. It is no wonder that the FIA threatened to withdraw the British Grand Prix from Silverstone, in fact at one point there was even talk of there not being a British Grand Prix at all. But promises have been made and money...
