Glamorous Cannes

Advantages: Gorgeous, Glamorus, nice weather, beautiful beach
Disadvantages: expensive

...Cannes, best known for its prestigious film festival is a glamorous and exquisite town in French Riviera. It has beautiful sandy beaches along the deep blue Mediterranean and the town harbor is packed with exquisite and expensive boats and yachts. The town is small but pretty with wide promenade bordered with plum and olive trees along the beach and red tiled French-Italian Mediterranean style mansions. The most visited place here is of course the film auditorium, just yards from the main beach. Each year it hosts one of the most prestigious world film festival and is visited by Hollywood's who's-who! The main court yard in front of the auditorium has hand impressions of renounced film stars and celebrities like Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, and Steven Spilberg. During the film festival each year, this small...

No Cannes Do

Advantages: Great place for people watching
Disadvantages: a tacky novelty that wore off quickly

...This summer I was lucky enough to spend a good bit of time touring the South Of France. It was a voyage of discovery and wonderment and I am going to share with you my experiences of Cannes. If you want historical facts about the place, or a list of hotels...you will not find it here.... but enjoy nonetheless. Funzo's Fantastical French Follying Adventures (the catchy name I gave my trip) had to take in Cannes. Driving along the south coast after a dissapointed day in the overcrowded, far too English resort of Nice, Cannes seemed an ideal box to tick and the 40ft Motorhome trundled laboriously along the picturesque if not scary coastal road that can take you from Monaco to Marseille with the sea never leaving your eyeline. The traffc to and from Cannes was about as busy as we had seen over the few weeks and the glaring neon...

Simon Crump. The Napoleon of Novel Writing

Advantages: A Stunningly good author
Disadvantages: None

...My wife read it and said: "You should read this book (Neverland) by Simon Crump, it's got a very black sense of humour. You'll enjoy it." So I did. It was. I did. Neverland by Simon Crump. It's a very novel Novel. Is it a collection of interlinked short stories, as some people believe? Yes. Well, no. Not, quite. It's more a collection of interlinked ideas, instead. By the way, the dead hamster unicorn featured in the novel? I'm not entirely certainly it was. Dead, that is. Simon Crump takes several different ideas and places them in a very unique and out of place context. You can imagine Michael Jackson and Uri Geller together. (They are or rather, were friends in real life) You can imagine them being in a shopping mall. You can imagine them having an argument. But then place them and their argument (and the stunning consequences...

Grace - Simon Webbe

Advantages: A decent pop album
Disadvantages: A few weak songs

...You will probably know of Simon Webbe as he was in the popular british boy band Blue, since they split up a couple of years ago he has gone solo and released two albums. He is the most successful solo member from Blue, and out of all four members he probably has the best voice. He has been compared to other artists such as Lighthouse Family and Seal; I can definitely see the comparisons with these artists as their music is similar. Grace is Simon's second album and is full of soulful pop songs. Coming Around Again - This was the first single from the album, and is a catchy feel good song about how if you have troubles on your mind you should put them to one side and watch the good times come round again. This is definitely one of the stand out tracks on the album and a good choice for the first single. Seventeen - I really like...

Severed by Simon Kernick

Advantages: Fast paced and action packed
Disadvantages: None

...I read one of Simon Kernick's books last year called Relentless and really enjoyed it and I got a Smiths voucher for my birthday and saw he had this one out in paperback and so bought it straight away. The book is about a man called Tyler who wakes up in a room which he doesn't recognise in a bed covered in blood. When he looks under the covers he finds his girlfriends body with its head cut off lying next to him. He cannot remember the past 24 hours. In shock he looks around the room and propped next to the DVD player is a note saying Tyler, Play me. When he plays the DVD it shows him killing his girlfriend. While his mind is whirling from this he doesn't hear the person approach him who then electrocutes and drugs him. This all happens in the first two chapters and 28 pages. When he awakes he is in a car and a mobile rings...

Sensational Simon...

Advantages: Great songs from three decades on two CDs
Disadvantages: Not enough room for everything!

...This is my first attempt at a music opinion and to tell you the truth it's a bit scary! I'm going to rave about one of my favourite perfomers, Paul Simon. He's the talented one from Simon & Garfunkel (some of you will like Art Garfunkel I suppose, he's just not my cup of tea). I say talented because in my dad's words "he can write songs, sing AND play the guitar - it's not fair!!"). He does all those things, and he does them all superbly well. INTRODUCTION TO THE ANTHOLOGY CD This CD is an anthology of songs from Paul Simon's albums. There are a few songs from the Simon & Garfunkel days (1964 - 1969), then the songs proceed through his first solo album (imaginatively titled "Paul Simon" 1971) and others until the Rhythm of the Saints (1989) and Concert in the Park (1989). MY OVERALL FEELINGS ABOUT THIS CD When my husband first...

Simon Webbe Sanctuary

Advantages: Appeals to all ages, great vocals and lyrics
Disadvantages: disappointing finish to the album after a great start

...Sanctuary by Simon Webbe is his debue album as a single solo artist since he left the very popular and well known band ''Blue''. He has created an exceptional album that will appeal to people of all ages and all interests in music. This album includes the hit singles 'Lay your hands' and 'After all this time'. It has 12 songs in total which I will run through individually below. 1. ''Lay Your Hands'' is a song about a close partner or girlfriend in which he desperately needs in order to overcome this phase he is going through. If you were to read the lyrics without listening to Simon sing the song you would find it quite depressing, but he manages to turn it into a mellow and relaxing song which certainly doesnt make you feel depressed. 2. ''No Worries'' appears to be an opposite of his first song. It seems as if he is the 'healer...

A Lot of Hard Yakka - Simon Hughes

Advantages: An insiders tale of the life of a professional cricketer
Disadvantages: Non sports fans won't find much to interest them

...A Lot of Hard Yakka - Simon Hughes Simon Hughes may not be the most familiar name in cricket; he never played for England, nor was he ever seriously contemplated for selection. He retired in the mid nineties having spent a decade and a half at the top of the domestic game but only the most dedicated of cricket fans would have been able to put a face to the name. While Hughes may not have had the most glamorous of careers he still lived the life of a professional sportsman and in this book he provides an unequalled insight into that life. The eighties were an exciting time for English cricket, from Botham's heroics in the '81 Ashes through victories at home and away there were any number of larger than life characters around and Hughes came into contact with most of them. This is not a biography as such, we don't learn much...

simone film starring alpachino

Advantages: funny,interesting plot
Disadvantages: scarface being a gentleman

...Simon or (S1m 0ne) as it is also spelt is a 2002 film directed and produced by Andrew Niccol, and stars Al Pacino. I decided to write a review about this film because I felt in did not get the credit it deserved and is a great film that most people haven't seen. Viktor Taransky (Al Pacino) is a movie director facing an all time low point in both his personal life and his career. Both his wife and his lead actor for his new movie have walk out and left I'm on his own, and due to his track record in the movie business no stars want to work with. Viktor is blessed with good fortune when he inherits a hard disc from a dying fan, Hank Aleno. The hard disc contains Hanks life's work as a computer programmer and it is a program which allows you to create an animated computer generated person. Viktor uses the program to create a new...
