...Well the Simpsons family are back again in this action-packed film! All your favourite characters are here plus a few new ones. It was released on the 10th December 2007 by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment who have been created films since 1976. The film itself is only an hour and a half long which I found to be a little disappointing as it the equivalent of only three episodes. I was hoping for something a little longer from a movie. It was however worth buying because this film is very different to the simpsons television shows and it hasn't unlike most of them been repeated about 15 times. This movie was directed by David Silverman and stars the voices of many great actors such as Dan Castellaneta and Nancy Cartwright. Advantages: Some funny bits
Disadvantages: Not exactly groundbreaking

...There can't be too many people that need introducing to TV's most dysfunctional TV family but just in case there is I will begin by saying that they are an animated family that live in Springfield, somewhere in the United States. Mother to their three children, is bright blue haired Marge, father is the slob like Homer whilst the three children are Bart, Lisa and baby Maggie. The Simpson's cartoons have been screened regularly in the UK on both Sky One and Channel 4. Over 400 individual episodes of these 25 minute long cartoons have been made and this number is still rising. A full length movie version is something that had been in the pipeline for quite a few years. Unlike most animated cartoons the Simpsons are not entirely aimed at children, they have a huge adult fan base and their use of witty double entendres make them work...

...Although long-awaited, the Simpsons Movie was finally released in 2007 with the show at a widely-accepted low ebb. I think many who went to see it probably had mixed expectations; the release of something that had been in the pipeline so long was an exciting prospect, although it had been that long since the show had produced a run of consistently good episodes, only the optimistic or ardently faithful would have been predicting a return to the series' 90s heights. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle; the film is neither as good nor bad as it could have been. ...The Simpsons: Sex, Lies and the Simpsons is a collection of four episodes from "The Simpsons", each with a romantic theme. These four episodes are "The Last Temptation Of Homer", "Bart After Dark", "New Kid On The Block" and "Lisa's Rival". In "The Last Temptation Of Homer", a new employee is hired at the nuclear plant, who seems to take an interest in Homer. Meanwhile, Bart becomes an outcast after being given huge black glasses, special shoes and a throat spray that makes him sound a lot like Jerry Lewis. A funny episode, but also a serious look at Homer and Marge's relationship and how Homer acts when he is attracted to someone else. The episodes on this DVD are "Homer's Night Out", "Homer the Moe", "Sunday Cruddy Sunday" and "The Mansion Family". "Homer's Night Out" has Bart mailing off for a CIA camera after an ad he saw in the back of one of his comic books. He uses it to great aplomb, taking a picture of Homer when he is cavorting around with an erotic dancer. ...The Simpsons: Film Festival is a 'best of' collection of four episodes. One of my favourite things about The Simpsons is their memorable movie references, and these four episodes are four of the greatest examples of this. The episodes are "Beyond Blunderdome", "A Star is Burns", "22 Short Films About Springfield" and "The Itchy and Scratchy Movie". In "Beyond Blunderdome" Homer wins tickets to see Mel Gibson's new movie, a remake of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington", and asked to review it, which he promptly berates for being boring. This bothers Mel so much he flies back to Springfield and asks for Homers help in order to re-edit the film. What results is a bloody tour de force that has Mel decapitating the President of the United States. ...The Simpsons: Dark Secrets is another entry into the Simpsons "Classics" series of DVD's. This volume contains four episodes with a mystery/secret theme. The episodes included are "Homer the Great", "The Springfield Files", "Lisa the Iconoclast" and "Homer Badman". "Homer the Great" is the fabled 'Stonecutters' episode. Homer follows his co-workers, Lenny and Carl, to a secret meeting place with the cream of Springfield's elite. Deciding he wants in, he asks Lenny and Carl for their help. They can't do anything, but luckily his dad is a member so he gets in. Through some strange series of events, he becomes the leader, and promptly everyone quits, leaving just Homer and some monkeys.
