...I often feel that I should review The Simpsons. I rate it more highly than perhaps any other show on TV. What stops me is the realisation that I could never, in a mere 1,000 words or so, do justice to its characters, its history, its dazzling multi-faceted and piercingly intelligent take on the modern world. I couldn't even begin to describe how funny it is and how indispensable it has become to my life. That would take a book. Fortunately, someone has saved me the bother, and done it much better than I could. That someone is Canadian Chris Turner, an award-winning magazine journalist. His book is Planet Simpson. The Simpsons Book

Advantages: Humourous...Very, Humourous!
Disadvantages: A little short...

...The simpsons "wingding" is an amazingly humourous book, based on the hilarious episodes from the animated "The Simpsons" on television, but contains more, humourous illustrations than a normal book. The main character Bart Simpson, is addicted to mischief and has obviously followed in his father's footsteps! There are six, well written, stories about the Simpsons and their home, Springfield, including "Don't Cry for mw Jebidiah". In thi story, Bart and his classmates are given a history assignment on Jebidiah Springfield and the best report in the class will win a most superior prize, but Bart can't think of anything to say. So using some scientific equipment, he makes the statue of Jebidiah cry. However, Lisa is soon suspicious, and on Barts tail! I think this book is irrelevant to most peoples life, but the humourous elements...

Advantages: A story that we havnt seen before on tv
Disadvantages: It's not very long

...Well the Simpsons family are back again in this action-packed film! All your favourite characters are here plus a few new ones. It was released on the 10th December 2007 by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment who have been created films since 1976. The film itself is only an hour and a half long which I found to be a little disappointing as it the equivalent of only three episodes. I was hoping for something a little longer from a movie. It was however worth buying because this film is very different to the simpsons television shows and it hasn't unlike most of them been repeated about 15 times. This movie was directed by David Silverman and stars the voices of many great actors such as Dan Castellaneta and Nancy Cartwright. ...There can't be too many people that need introducing to TV's most dysfunctional TV family but just in case there is I will begin by saying that they are an animated family that live in Springfield, somewhere in the United States. Mother to their three children, is bright blue haired Marge, father is the slob like Homer whilst the three children are Bart, Lisa and baby Maggie. The Simpson's cartoons have been screened regularly in the UK on both Sky One and Channel 4. Over 400 individual episodes of these 25 minute long cartoons have been made and this number is still rising. A full length movie version is something that had been in the pipeline for quite a few years. ...Although long-awaited, the Simpsons Movie was finally released in 2007 with the show at a widely-accepted low ebb. I think many who went to see it probably had mixed expectations; the release of something that had been in the pipeline so long was an exciting prospect, although it had been that long since the show had produced a run of consistently good episodes, only the optimistic or ardently faithful would have been predicting a return to the series' 90s heights. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle; the film is neither as good nor bad as it could have been. ...The Simpsons: Backstage Pass is a collection of four episodes featuring some of the best bands of the past and the present. The four episodes are "Homerpalooza", "A Tale of Two Springfields", "The Otto Show" and "Homer's Barbershop Quartet". "Homerpalooza" is one of my personal favourites and concerns Homer, who seems to be having a mid-life crisis, so he takes Bart and Lisa to the Hullabalooza festival where, through some bizarre coincidences that could only happen in The Simpsons, he gets to fulfill his rock star dreams by touring with the festival. The bands here are amazing, from classic rockers (Peter Frampton) to newer, indie rock (Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins) and really shows the difference in musical tastes between then and when the show started, and also since Homer was a teenager as well. These four episodes are "The Last Temptation Of Homer", "Bart After Dark", "New Kid On The Block" and "Lisa's Rival". In "The Last Temptation Of Homer", a new employee is hired at the nuclear plant, who seems to take an interest in Homer. Meanwhile, Bart becomes an outcast after being given huge black glasses, special shoes and a throat spray that makes him sound a lot like Jerry Lewis. A funny episode, but also a serious look at Homer and Marge's relationship and how Homer acts when he is attracted to someone else.
