...I have just returned from an 11 day holiday in Egypt. The main purpose of the holiday, apart from the obvious, was for myself and my boyfriend to complete our PADI Open Water Diving Course. We browsed online before booking anything to see what sort of price we would have to pay to complete our course. We were looking to stay at the Hilton Sharks Bay hotel and we found that they actually had a Dive Club onsite at the hotel which we thought would be nice and convenient so we booked the holiday and the diving course. Review of Sinai Dive Club

Dive In At The Deep End!

Advantages: Easy acess to hotel, coral reefs onsite, friendly staff, good prices

...We have just returned from our holiday in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt and when we booked the holiday we decided to do our PADI Open Water Dive certification at the same time. We decided on staying at the Hilton Sharks Bay Resort as it has the Sinai Dive School on the site with easy access to the sea from a jetty. The Sinai Dive School The dive school is situated at the bottom of the Hilton site complex and is an easy walk to get there, about 5- 10 minutes from main reception. This school is PADI registered and has just celebrated its 20 year anniversary this year. Layout of Dive Club The main entrance to the School is adjacent the Sunset Bar on the far extent of the site. Review of Sinai Dive Club

A bit too 'Immersed'

Advantages: Brutal hardcore/new metalcore, not afraid to try a new aproach
Disadvantages: No consistancy throughout, awful crooning choruses, odd techno flourishes that go nowhere

..., 'Sinai Beach' they're called and this album's called 'Immersed'. They're home to Victory Records, one of my favourite labels and one I certainly take pride in purchasing albums from. I was looking for some great music and/or DVD's to add to my collection, having also bought a copy of 'Himsa's' latest insane offering, which by comparsion makes this record seem alot worse than it is. While watching the Victory Show on a combined CD/DVD release from another Victory band, I noticed an advert between every other track with the 'Sinai Beach' album art and some pounding metal playing in the background that sounded great. This was a while ago mind, but a friend of mine was also watching this DVD and he thought they sounded good, but didn't have a care in the world for the artwork. Review of Immersed - Sinai Beach

The Monastery of the Burning Bush.

Advantages: A very spiritual place containing thousands of years of history and rare manuscripts.
Disadvantages: Short opening hours. Traders badgering you once you leave.

St. Catharine?s Monastry is a designated UNESCO site can be found in Sinai Eygpt at the base of Mount Sinai in a tiny little gorge which appears to be in the middle of nowhere. It is reputed to be the oldest working monastery in the world. It is of significant importance not only for Greek Orthodox Christians but also Islam. It is primarily a Greek Orthodox Christian monastry but within the walls of the monastry there is a mosque for the passing nomadic Bedouins some of whom still live within the walls helping the monks in their day to day lives. It is here at the base of Mount Sinai that it is supposed to be where God appeared to Moses in the burning bush with the Ten Commandments and the bush is still there today in one of the little alleyways within the monastry walls...

Review of Taba Heights Marriott Beach Resort, South Sinai

Hilton Dahab - good 5* hotel with nice beach and lagoon

Advantages: Luxurious, watersports, great lagoon, good food
Disadvantages: Extra food and drinks expensive, no snorkelling in lagoon

...The Hilton Dahab is a fairly green hotel spread across the Dahab coastline. There is a nice golden sand beach, although it is too hot to walk on without shoes in summer, so I would recommend buying some beach/swimming shoes from the hotel shop. The lagoon in lovely for swimming and very walm, although there is little in terms of marine life. There is a dive centre (sinai divers) which can arrange diving and snorkelling trips and courses. We were on Half board, which was a good deal as you could have a pizza or snack for lunch on the beach (expensive)! The breakfasts are hilton standards (fantastic) and the buffet dinners are also good. There is a games room with billiards and table tennis which you can hire. The rooms are in blocks, and are very comfortable, as you would expect from a 5* hotel. There may be an amount of walking to...

charming sharm

Advantages: diving is excellent
Disadvantages: pushy shop owners

...charming sharm, thats what it says as you enter. this resort is still in major development. security is tight so expect to see guards at the enterance to your hotel. this was a little unnearving at times especially as they all carry guns. many of the hotels are all inclusive which is great as a lot of the restaurants are dubious to say the least. we say meat being cut in the street in the heat of the day! naama bay is the main nightlife/shopping area in sharm. we didnt like it and will avoid next time. the egyptions were very pushy and rude if you didnt visit their shops. i really did want to do some shopping in sharm but struggled greatly. if you get the chance leave the resort and do some trips. any diving trip will be fab - the fish are amazing. the mt sinai trip is amazing but not for the faint hearted - its a 3 hr climb in the dark...

...The Dead Sea is one of those places like the Eiffel Tower, Mount Everest, Rome and New York that most people want to visit at some time or another, unlike Rome and New York, perhaps less people do so but it's certainly well worth it. Located in the West Bank (Israel), the top of the lake is just a few kilometres from the Palestinian territory of Jericho. Apart from the forever shrinking lake which is an amazing 419 meteres below sea level and continuing to drop, the surrounding area is something that surprised me. I supposed that I hadn't expected anything in particular but the deserty Sinai like landscape that surrounds it is amazingly lunar. From the Israeli/Palestinian side, you have the arid hills behind you which make Jerusalem and the Judean Mountains seem like a far away land and looking opposite across the water you have...
