Singapore - the Hotel 81 chain

Advantages: Cheap, clean and safe
Disadvantages: Not for the faint-hearted if you don't like the real world

...I did not mean to stay in a Hotel 81 hotel. I was planning to be in transit through Singapore at my own expense for a day or so.I tried three four-star special offers.The first two came back after about 12 hrs to inform me that their hotel was full on the dates in question. The third hotel was also full but offered me a hotel, Hotel 81 Geyland on Lorong 20, which they recommended for a cost of about £20 per night. Time was a bit tight ,but the photo looked OK on-line and the price was fantastic so I booked it and this is where I stayed, and stayed again on two further visits later in the year. This hotel is not for seekers of de-luxe accommodation. The rooms are completely basic and quite small. My room had an air-conditioner (which did not cost extra to use), a small bathroom with toilet and shower and a welcome bag...

Delighting guests every single day. Mandarin Oriental Singapore.

Advantages: Great location. Excellent service that isn't too Singaporean! New rooms with excellent features!
Disadvantages: You will pay for the pleasure!

I have stayed at a variety of hotels in Singapore but none have come as close to the perfect stay that you get at MO. I last stayed here in 2007 when the hotel was just branded as The Oriental, however Mandarin Oriental have since renamed the property under their full brand, just to make you aware in case you read reviews on either of the properties, they are in fact the same. My favourite Singapore hotel

Advantages: Unrivalled location, great facities, wonderful breakfasts
Disadvantages: View of the freeway from some of the rooms

...Of all the hotels I have stayed in in Sing, this is definitely my favourite. It's all the flash, marbled, gilted, chanderliered swankiness you can desire, with great facilities, service and efficiency, as only Singapore can do. The rooms are well appointed and very clean, with your typical Holiday Inn double beds and choice of pillow firmness, TV, trouser press, tea and coffee etc., and also internet connections, bathrobes, disposable slippers and safes. The large marble bathrooms come complete with a phone for those calls that just can't wait. One of my favourite features in this hotel is the roof pool. These are common in most Singapore hotels, but this one is a huge, overflowing marble affair, with foliage around the walls, the odd gecko, and is beautifully lit for night swimming, when the temperature is perfect. ...I stayed at the Rendezvous this year in May for one week. Our room was a superior room which was well furnished, with a spacious en suite bathroom, mini bar, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, in room safe, free tea making facilities, satellite tv, and internet facilities. The swimming pool and jacuzzi is situated in the middle of the hotel outside and is surrounded by 4 walls of the hotel. The gym is spacious with all the latest gym equipment. ...Uniquely Singapore!! This is this city's catch phrase. It can be seen on signs as soon as you walk off the plane the moment when you do depart and they wish you a found farewell as the plane departs this fine city. I am not sure what I thought I would expect from Singapore. However, whatever it was did not even compare to what I found in this spectacular city! Upon arriving at the Changi airport, one becomes completely in awe of the airport which supports it's own stopover hotel, free movie theatre and spa! This is not to mention the vast amounts of shops and restaurants. ~Immigration~ On departing the plane, you make your way through the beautiful corridors filled with live plants and flowers of spectacular beauty, to the immigration lines. Budget Holiday In Singapore

Advantages: Safe, A good public transport and accomodation

Yup, Of Course, you can not throw the rubbish anywhere you like. If you did it, I am sure an office will come across you and fine you. So be careful. If you are a shopaholic, I am very sure that you will like Singapore city. There are a lot huge Shopping center there. But, be careful with your credit card. You might be over limit. Orchad Road is the most well know area in Singapore. There are a lot huge shopping center, food point and hotel. However, if you go for budget holiday, I can suggest you not to shop at orchad shopping center. ...Stayed in the Shangri- la twice in Nov 2005 as stop overs going to and from Australia, with three children 9,4and 1. On the way over we stayed just for one night and a day before flying on. Arriving at hotel very tired and bedraggled after long flight with small children. Greeted by a beautiful dressed lady waiting to open taxi door (arranged by hotel) and escort us straight to our rooms (mum and Sister with me and kids). We stayed in the Garden wing which had wonderful large rooms with large double beds and huge bathroom with lots of nice smellies and free gifts. Had a good nights sleep and woke the next day to great views on the balcony of the large swimming pool. The Shangri-la has a choice of a few resturant, but as we had the kids it restricted us to 'The Line' which was great. The Line is a great big buffet for what ever meal...
