Budget Holiday In Singapore

Advantages: Safe, A good public transport and accomodation
Disadvantages: the local people are not so friendly, it is very strict

...Singapore is well known as the fine city in the world. It is located in South East Asia. Arriving in Changi Airport, you will be amazed by the arrangement and the cleanness inside. Yup, Of Course, you can not throw the rubbish anywhere you like. If you did it, I am sure an office will come across you and fine you. So be careful. If you are a shopaholic, I am very sure that you will like Singapore city. There are a lot huge Shopping center there. But, be careful with your credit card. You might be over limit. Orchad Road is the most well know area in Singapore. There are a lot huge shopping center, food point and hotel. However, if you go for budget holiday, I can suggest you not to shop at orchad shopping center. The price of the items, are a bit higher compare to the others shopping center, but of course you will get a very high...

Review of General: Singapore

Singapore Girl

Advantages: Optimal service, comfort, new aircraft
Disadvantages: None

...I had the pleasure of travelling twice with them. Both of these were on their long haul flights from London to Singapore. The last of them was in February 2000. There are so many little things that sets this airline above the others. The main emphasis of Singapore Airlines has always been on service. Off course many airlines offer you good service but what about those little things that you can only experience if you have flown with them. For example on my flight, I was in Economy Class and the night was upon us. Most of the passengers were fast asleep with their pillows stuck under their heads and blankets pulled up over their shoulders. I personally cannot sleep on a flight. There was a passenger on my left and a couple of rows down, whose blanket had dropped from his shoulders and onto the floor. One of the stewardesses...

Singapore Airline Crap

Advantages: What advantages? Should be renamed the NoStar Alliance.
Disadvantages: Too many to list.

...As many of you know, I am a frequent flyer on several of the major airlines. My travels have taken me to many parts of the world on several different airlines, some good, some bad, some not worth mentioning. This is an extremely long review. So, you have been warned! Personal History = The last time I flew with Singapore Airlines (SIA) was more than 10 years ago. On that fateful flight, the plane was delayed many hours, due to 'unforeseen technical problems'. They boarded , and unboarded (alighted) us many many times and did not even have the courtesy to provide the passengers with refreshments. On top of the delays, there was the food poisoning incident when I flew with them from Hong Kong to Singapore. Did I mention they are also part of the Star Alliance? Earlier last year, I wrote about Air Canada and how...

The Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore

Advantages: Nice food and delectable facilities
Disadvantages: none

...The Pan Pacific Hotel is one if the finest hotels in Singapore. Three shopping malls are located in the vicinity of the hotel, including Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. You will also take 20 minutes to arrive at the hotel from Changi Airport. The hotel has 778 well-designated rooms and suites, which they themselves, provide extravagant views of the city and habour while 26 meeting venues are open for various kinds of events. Hotel guests may like the facilities---tennis courts, a spa, gymnasium and an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel is also well-known for its award-winning restaurants including the Hai Tien Lo's delicate Cantonese cuisines, Keyaki Japanese restaurant for authentic Japanese dishes, Global Kitchen for international gourmet presentations, Brunch for all...

Singapore Airlines - A pleasure to travel with

Advantages: Great seat pitch, value for money, modern aircraft, polite staff, amenity kit
Disadvantages: None

...*~*How I came to be going to Singapore*~* As a bit of a competition player I tend to drop lucky in our office when the Airline's are offering incentives to agents in order for us to sing their praises to customers, so when they launched the Boeing 777 from Manchester they were offering flights for just £77 return to Singapore a real bargain so I decided to pick up one of these flights. My colleague who I was good friends with decided that she wanted to come as well so we both applied to take a friend with us and it was decided that we would go in September we received our fax back to say that we had been successful and decided to make plans for our stay. This was at the time where SARS was just coming to an end and Tourism was pretty low in Singapore I was all for travelling over there but my friend started to have doubts when...

We Had A Singapore SLING!!

Advantages: Amenities, Service, Food
Disadvantages: Online Check-in doesn't always work

...~BACKGROUND~ I had heard many good things about Singapore Airlines and when we booked our Christmas holiday last January and found out that 2 of the 6 flights we would be taking were with Singapore Airlines, I was happy about that. But, as always, one is always a bit cautious and everyone's experience and be different. My worries began back in August when I found out I was pregnant! After consulting the doctors and midwives, I was assured I could continue on my Christmas holiday that was to take me to Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. My biggest worry was the flights and being comfortable. Even in the best conditions a 12+ hours flight can be an ordeal. We took two flights in economy class. The first flight was on the 17th December 2005 from Heathrow to Singapore and the second flight was on the 24th December 2005 from...

Paradise and a Singapore Sling

Advantages: Clean, multi cultural
Disadvantages: Humid

...We had the pleasure of taking our annual holiday last year to Singapore. We stayed at the Shangri-La hotel, which is a really lovely hotel, and I will surely write an op on this shortly. For the most part, Singapore is a clean and sterile city. There are beautiful, modern buildings throughout the city. There are some semi-exotic areas with interesting temples and buildings such as Little India on Serangoon Road, Chinatown near the Elgin Bridge, the Muslim Quarter near Arab Street, and a must see for most travelers, the Raffles Hotel Arcade Complex. A friend of ours, told us if we ever made it to Singapore, we must go inside to relax and enjoy a Singapore Sling in Raffles. A Singapore Sling is a concoction of gin, cherry herring, cointreau, benedictine, pineapple, lime juice, and angostura bitters. They tasted good, were...

Singapore - the Hotel 81 chain

Advantages: Cheap, clean and safe
Disadvantages: Not for the faint-hearted if you don't like the real world

...I did not mean to stay in a Hotel 81 hotel. I was planning to be in transit through Singapore at my own expense for a day or so.I tried three four-star special offers. The first two came back after about 12 hrs to inform me that their hotel was full on the dates in question. The third hotel was also full but offered me a hotel, Hotel 81 Geyland on Lorong 20, which they recommended for a cost of about £20 per night. Time was a bit tight ,but the photo looked OK on-line and the price was fantastic so I booked it and this is where I stayed, and stayed again on two further visits later in the year. This hotel is not for seekers of de-luxe accommodation. The rooms are completely basic and quite small. My room had an air-conditioner (which did not cost extra to use), a small bathroom with toilet and shower and a welcome bag...

Review of Hotel 81 - Gold, Singapore

Singapore Airlines, The Jewel of the sky.

Advantages: Great First Class Air service Irrelevent of the class you fly.
Disadvantages: Flights get booked quick because of the immense popularity.

...Singapore Airlines really do rise above any other airline irrelevant of the class or distance you fly. I have recently returned from a trip to Sydney, Australia and after the many good reports we decided to fly with Singapore Airlines. I knew I shouldn?t be disappointed. We booked the flights through the travel agent about 1 year in advance as because of the popularity of Singapore Airlines the flights get booked up very quickly indeed. The total price for each member of our party came to £1440 including airport taxes at Manchester, Singapore and Sydney and VAT. Which was a very reasonable price for such a long distance journey? We decided to fly economy class after inspecting the various classes available via their website and decided that economy would suit our needs adequately. Our departure date came and we made our...

As smooth as Singapore silk

Advantages: Great food, service and entertainment
Disadvantages: Not direct, except to Singapore

...I flew Singapore Airlines, in economy, on the first two legs of a round the world trip with Star Alliance. They were without question the best two flights of the trip, and among the best flights I have ever taken (and I have been flying regularly since I was an infant). My route with SA was Manchester to Singapore, then after a four day stopover, Singapore to Auckland. I flew out on Thursday morning, which is the one day of the week when SA flies a Boeing 747 on this route (as opposed to a 777) and there is a stopover of about 90 minutes in Zurich, rather than the direct flight. CHECK-IN 1 Check-in at Manchester was a little chaotic, as their computer system was down. I got there very early, and there wasn't a huge queue, so it was efficient nonetheless. However, as there were no computers, there was no way of accessing...
