Coleman stove - fast food on the move
Advantages: Fast, cheap to run, fuel widely available - globally
Disadvantages: haven't found any yet - except not really lightweight
...I have used a range of different camping stoves over the years, having been involved in outdoor activities with young people I have had an ongoing debate around the safety/efficiency issues.
I have personally used a coleman stove for 15 yrs - the special delight is when you are camping with Trangia fans. I like to set-up the stove and kettle, in the time it takes to boil I can get my tent pitched and then go round with mugs of tea whilst my friends kettles are just getting up to a simmer - smug doesn't even enter into it.
So why else am I convinced? You can control the stove from a gentle simmer to a full rolling boil, the fuel - unleaded petrol - is widely available, a tank full is plenty to cook a meal for two, with extra brews as well. The stove has a fairly wide base an is stable in most conditions, it is easy to light and soon...

The Coleman Peak 1 Petrol Stove
Advantages: Small, portable, high heat (but controllable), reliable
Disadvantages: Price of fuel
...I purchased a Coleman Peak 1 camping stove about 12 years ago, when I embarked on an expedition to walk the Penine Way.
The stove is lightweight, portable, and best of all - reliable. It gives a good heat, boiling 2 pints of water in less than 5 minutes (try doing that with your standard Calor Gaz stove!).
Although the power output is high, it is also very controllable. There is a small lever to adjust the flame, and it can be lowered to a simmer if that is all that you need.
Safety has also been taken into consideration such that, even though the stove is fuelled with petrol, it can be tilted, turned, and even inverted without flaring up in your face.
The fuel made by Coleman is rather expensive (around 9 pounds for a 1 litre tin), although the newer models can now use standard unleaded fuel of the type you put in your car...

Singles
Advantages: perfect little gem of a film
Disadvantages: none
...?I?d try to comprehend you but I got a dyslexic heart??
Singles, Cameron Crowe?s 1992 tale of the twentysomething search for love in Seattle, is one of my all-time favourite films. This sweet, episodic mix of neatly interlinking storylines is very human, very funny and has probably the best soundtrack of any film in that decade (yes, that includes Pulp Fiction).
?How did this stuff get so complicated? I don?t know.?
The storyline strands are relatively few, and this is why the film continues to be coherent and believable. Poor Linda has been dumped on more times than she cares to remember, so is in no mood to meet Steve, who might just be the love of her life. Steve?s ex Janet is, meanwhile, in love with her neighbour in the block of ?singles? in which they live, but Cliff is just too wrapped up in his music to give a damn...

Carry on camping.
Advantages: See text.
Disadvantages: See text.
...I would just like to write a review on camping, from my own very many years worth of experience! If you have never been camping, then you don't quite know what you are missing - yet.
Camping usually means spending up to two weeks in a tent that leaks, with another person who snores and so keeps you up all night - or a dog that also keeps you awake by farting and licking you all over the face all night. But there are some advantages to it, but I have yet to find out what they are!
However, with all said here are some thoughts on both sides of the matter. Because I love it really!
Camping can be in anything from a glorified filed rented out by a local farmer, to a proper concern by means of a full-on camping site with added facilities. Depending on what you want can decide where you stay, and what you want close by. A lot...

Leadstone Camping - Great
Advantages: Quiet, pleasant staff, great place to get the children out and playing
Disadvantages: Hill up from the Warren (but catch the bus!)
...I think the other reviewers of this campsite must have had some strange concepts of what camping is about! Have used this site for a number of years (not exclusively - I camp at least 6 times a year). Only once have I had a problem with tent guys overlapping and that was because the person who pitched next to me had a monster of a tent and no idea how to pitch it so it didn't encroach. In fact, on many sites, they would have had to book 2 pitches.
One reviewer complain about a party next door to the campsite - I was there at the time and the time - the property adjoining the site is NOTHING to do with the site. Andrew did his best to negotiate with the residents but they were unco-operative at the time - the police had to be called in the end. We, and anyone who asked, WERE reimbursed for that night. The loos do get mucky when...

When the going is tough, the Peak keeps going
Advantages: Great in extreme weather
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly
...note here is, if cooking for an extended period of time, it may be necessary to pump more pressure into the stove, just remember never do this with anything on the stove.
Once you?ve finished cooking it is simply a matter of turning the fuel lever off, the flame will go out after a short while, then allow it to cool down completely.
How good is it?
When it comes to boiling water, this is the fastest of all the portable stoves that are on the market, when I used to work in a camping store we would have nights where we would visit various camping organisations (a bit like a Tupperware or Anne Summers party, but demonstrating camping equipment), one of the things we would demonstrate would be different camping stoves, our test would be to see which of them would boil a measured amount of water the quickest. It did not matter what type...

Bistro Stove - now you're cooking with gas!
Advantages: robust, solid, not expensive, reliable
Disadvantages: no good for backpacking - too large & heavy
...The Bistro 250 stove from Camping Gas is an excellent piece of equipment.
We bought one this year from Argos at just £26.99 which included a gas cartridge (these normally cost around £2.50 or £1.95 for a non genuine equivalent cartdridge.
The gas cartridge is easily fitted and can be removed between uses - an added safety feature.
It also has a clever mechanism which automatically ejects the cartridge (thereby extinguishing the stove) if the cartridge gets too hot - this can apparently occur if you use a pan which is too big, although ours is HUGE and we had no problem at all!
The power of this baby is a massive 2700W which compares to a measly 1100W from our old stove. It bols up our kettle of water in less than a couple of minutes and toasts bread on our camp toaster almost faster than we ca load it.
I recommend this...

Camping it up
Advantages: Good cast, some funny lines
Disadvantages: Dated and crudie in parts
...became unfunny and a little crude.
So where does Carry On Camping fit in the series?
CARRY ON CAMPING
*************************
Carry on Camping as the seventeenth film of the series was released in 1969, in full colour. At the time it was a huge box office success in England, which I seriously doubt it would be today. In fact it would probably be frowned upon these days and seem a little like dirty schoolboy humour. Carry On regulars who were in the cast of this film were Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Hattie Jacques, Joan Sims and Bernard Bresslaw. Barbara Windsor had a leading role in this film and there were quite a few other actors in small or minor roles. In line with the other Carry On films, Carry On Camping has it's 'memorable clip' This time it is a busty Babara Windsor flinging her arms out as part...

Camping it up
Advantages: Quiet, Peaceful, Relaxing
Disadvantages: Insect bites, Scary noises at night
...sunlight from. Also, unless you have a roof box or trailer you should have enough space to store all you stuff in.
WHAT SHOULD YOU TAKE WITH YOU?
Alongside the things mentioned earlier I have found useful:
A camping stove and gas; camping table; the most comfortable chairs you can fit in the car; air bed (with fitted sheet, thanks mum); duvet or sleeping bags; clothes and towels; washing up bowl; camping kettle and thermos flask; cool box (with attachment for car power outlet if possible); washing line & pegs; cutlery & plates; monopoly; continuo and tea bags and marmite (if leaving the country).
I?m sure you could add or take from this list depending on what you wanted whilst away but I would consider all these things a must have for our camping holidays.
WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?
Other than to have a great time you should...

Stoves 61GDO
Advantages: Dual oven, easy to clean
Disadvantages: Gas cut off re-instates
...toddler is around and worse still, if the door is shut the gas is automatically cuts off but when opened again it comes back but does not ignite so there is potential for quite a nasty accident if you are not careful.
My other dislike is the knobs. One split after 14 months so I had to buy a new one at £11.75 which took 4 weeks to arrive and now another has split.
I would buy another Stoves cooker but only if they have improved the things I don't like...
