Advantages: good character development, the main premise of the story is exciting
Disadvantages: not enough suspense, the story could've been developed better

...at discovering her husband has taken their young son. Both of these characters were developed well and extremely likeable. Daniel is billed as the obvious hero of the book, trying to recover from his own personal tragedy and getting a new lease of life and a ?second chance? when he tries but fails to rescue the young girl in the river. I found he had the right mix of emotions to be a believable lead character and it was easy to get behind, sympathise and like him throughout the book. Maggie on the other hand is portrayed well as a frantic mother trying to find her son. I particularly liked the way the author kept Maggie in the dark about how far her husband had spiralled out of control in his depression after Iraq and how she didn?t turn bitter at him for taking their son. I think that any mother would feel angry if their partner ran off...

Every Six Seconds...

Advantages: Has a touch of reality not found in a lot of bloke-lit
Disadvantages: As with most bloke-lit, they pack too much in for it to be completely real

"Six" is vastly different....and all the better for it!

Advantages: 1 of the most original alt rock/indie/brit pop albums ever recorded! Intelligent lyrics! Catchy!!!
Disadvantages: possibly most radio-unfriendly album ever made,though not necessarily a bad thing whatsoever, IMO.

...From the strikingly lingering, indisputably foot-tapping opening riff of "Six" through to the wonderfully subdued dimuendo at the climax of "Being A Girl", that follows a pounding, insistent bridge line vocal which I found somewhat reminiscent of MSP owing to Paul's falsetto on the track combined with his chanting of the lyric "the only pureness left is preached to me by Marx", Mansun have produced an album oozing with, in my opinion - and that of a large cult following which can be clearly seen on lead singer, Paul Draper's website http://www.pauldraper.info/ - an unrivalled level of creativity and orignality which is quite simply, ..mesmerizing. Six Sacred Stones - Six wasted hours

Advantages: A good laugh - preposterous action and action hero

...I'd read a couple of books by Jane Green which I had hugely enjoyed so I was really looking forward to reading Second Chance and I was not disappointed! It was a hugely enjoyable read from the very first page based on a group of characters that it was really easy to get to know! The story centres on a group of people who were all friends while they were growing up but have since lost touch. The sudden and tragic death of one of them throws them all back together again at his memorial service and gives them a 'second chance' to renew their friendships. What they discover is, that even though they have not seen each other for years, the thing that makes them friends in the first place is the same thing that draws them back together again! Everyone deserves a second chance

Advantages: Easy to read and enjoyable 'beach' book

...I have always been a fan of Jane Green's books and have not found one that I didn't like. I try and get hold of a copy of any of her new books as soon as they are published in paperbacks as I can't stand the hardbacks! After waiting a little while longer due to lack of funds I finally got hold of 'Second Chance' and then after waiting again to find time to sit down and read I managed to finally finish the book a couple of days ago and so thought I would share my thoughts on this book. The author: Jane Green has written quite a few books now and they are all the 'chick lit/romance' type of books. She originally wrote for the Daily Express newspaper and became a writer when she wrote her first book 'Straight Talking' which ended up being a huge success. Advantages: A great tool for copying and backing up your data and documents
Disadvantages: None really

...backup solutions there really is no excuse not to. If you?re not doing any backups at the moment read on - if you are well read on anyway. I personally now use a utility called Second Copy at both home and work and I will describe why using both my scenarios. Of course other options are available to protect your data - some of the online backup solutions (such as Mozy for instance) are excellent and can now replace utilities like this to certain extent. However these online solutions do come at a cost and can actually be added to your backup solution to make it even better. I will explain more on this later.
