...not watching sports on TV and on her first race she stopped at the finish line instead of racing through the invisible line which stops the stopwatch. You forget many things and some weird ones stay in your mind. One of the guys had a nickname 'omelette' as he was able to eat the biggest omelette in the morning. I also remember very well that we would take off our jackets before the race start to have better aerodynamic shape - like we were professional bikers or swimmers. Then you would wait for someone to bring you jacket down to the Finish area while shaking from the tiredness and cold. The beautiful girl from the previous paragraph became the best skier in her category and won all gold medals on all competitions. A day's snow sport is more than memorable at this North Otago ski area in a province of New Zealand's South Island, known for its stunning mountain scenery. Atop the 5400ft mountain sits an outcrop of rock, in the shape of a crown, hence the name given to it by explorer/surveyor James McKerrow when visiting this virgin area many decades ago. Another, more modern pioneer was Sir William Hamilton who, with typical New Zealand 'Kiwi' ingenuity, put Coronet Peak on the map by manufacturing the first rope tow at what was the country's first commercial ski field in 1947. Boarders Won't Be Bored & Skiers Delighted

Advantages: Variety of green, blue and red pistes. Wide pistes
Disadvantages: Potentially low snow fall in Dec & early Jan

...I have just returned from a week of skiing in Alpe d'Huez (2-8 Jan 05) staying at Chalet Bruyeres with First Choice. I recommend going on a ski/boarding holiday in a large group to keep the costs down - I went as part of a group of 19 and we booked approx 6 months prior to the holiday. This meant the cost for a skier including hire, ski pass, insurance and chalet with breakfast, afternoon tea, evening meal and free wine was £530 and for a boarder was £544. Not bad! The transfer from Grenoble took approx 1 hour and a half in a coach. Its a pretty drive through the mountains but takes a while as the roads become steep, narrow hair pin bends as you climb up the Alps out of the valley and away fromt he main roads. TOWN Alpe d'Huez is 1865 metres up in the Alps which is a lot higher up (before even ascending the pistes ready...

Lux and relax

Advantages: luxury hotel, good service, swiming pool
Disadvantages: the hotel is far from the slopes and the rest of the resort

.... There is a Sauna and that is a good option for the end of your day. The restaurant in the Hotel is perfect. There are a lot of delicious Bulgarian salads, foods and drinks. I have no remarks related with the service or with staff. People are very kind. The Hotel is far from the resort and if you want to go somewhere you must take the car or to take the hotel's bus. When there is a lot of snow you may have problems with the car. And my personal opinion about Pamporovo ski resort Pamporovo is not my favorite Bulgarian ski resort because the slopes are too easy for advanced skiers. It doesn?t mean that I don?t recommend you Pamporovo. It is good for beginners and medium skiers. There are a lot of slopes with modern gondolas. The nature is magnificent. Get Fit While Having Fun!

Advantages: Fun For All The Family

...Soccer Heading you have to tilt your weight side to side in order to hit the soccer balls. It is harder than it sounds but easy to get the hang of and quite fun! You must also dodge things like football boots which lower your score. In Ski Salom you have to tilt your weight side to side to go through the sets of flags. You must also lean forward at the same time to go faster. Another one of my favourites which I was not great at! In Ski Jump you squat, keeping your weight in the centre until your skier gets to the line where you stop squating suddenly to jump. It is so tempting to jump on the wii fit board but don't! Table Tilting is a fun game where you must tilt the tabletop to get the balls in the holes. I loved this one. The more tops you completed the harder it got! There was also a game where you had to tilt the iceberg so...

Good if you ski well

Advantages: good if your a good skier
Disadvantages: boring if you don't ski and too hard for beginners

...I'm not a keen skier myself but the rest of my family are and so I got taken here. If you ski well then its a good resort but if your a beginner or not very good I wouldn't recommend it at all. The skiing is good but those that skied felt that the levels were too high (ie a green run was harder than a green run should have been)and that it was extemely difficult for beginners as it really started at intermediate level. The town itself is very boring. The pricing is average but there are hardly any shops and no nightlife that I was aware of except one cinema with only one screen showing fairly old movies!. As for the acccomodation there is plenty available but they are really set up for the skier and if you don't ski all their is to do is watch the two english channels there are. Boring for none skiers....

...Who wants to be a millionaire - we all do don't we. Try a package skiing holiday to this resort and you can get a taste of what a millionaire's lifestyle must be like. The packages to Bulgaria still rank amongst the cheapest skiing around, and once in the resort the prices make your money go slower than a beginner down a nursery slope. Food, drinks (alcohol and soft) and cigarettes are dirt cheap and the night clubs welcome and treat like royalty anyone holding cash. try the clubs within the hotel complexes for the best service at only slightly higher prices. The skiing is excellent with good relaiable snow and the lift network is suficent for all levels of skiers.
