Exploring the Province of Madrid

Advantages: Splendid architecture and surrounding nature
Disadvantages: destinations are scattered and hard to reach by public transport

...the pass to the town of Navacerrada, a popular Spanish ski resort. The road is very steep and full of hair pin curves, and thus requires good driving skills. This would truly make for one of the more difficult stages of the Vuelta, the Spanish equivalent to the Tour de France. You can enjoy always new spectacular views of mountains, hills and valleys, and conifer woodlands. Should you choose to travel by train, the railway to Puerto de Navacerrada follows a less steep route through the valley, but is no less beautiful. If you want to spend a whole day hiking in the Sierra, you can do so in the Valle de Fuenfría National Park, near the town of Cercedilla. Holiday Inn Madrid

Advantages: Nice staff, clean, kettle in the room
Disadvantages: The local area, rather expensive

...This is yet another hotel stayed in when travelling with work. It's a four star hotel (Ciao has it listed as a three star) and is located in the business district in Madrid. The Estadio Santiago Bernabeau, the home of Real Madrid football club is also very close by if you are interested in football. Public transport is very good-metro station and bus stop near by, the bus is one Euro into central Madrid and unlike London they have plenty of bus lanes and regular services-every 5 minutes. And no over-crowding or rubbish strewn everywhere! The hotel itself is a typical sprawling 1980's concrete block. The surrounding area is a bit dodgy at night and opposite the hotel is a boarded up cinema. In fact the whole area is pretty much a concrete jungle and I would be careful with going out after dark as it's pretty deserted once...

wii ski

Advantages: great family fun
Disadvantages: n/a

...Wii is one of the greatest games consoles that I have ever purchased and I absolutely love all of the games that I have played on it to date. Wii Family Ski is a game that up to five people can play and requires the Wii Fit to be able to play. It took me a while to find the Wii Fit or as it is also known the balance board but I kept on searching and got there in the end. Wii Family Ski lets you create a character from scratch or you can import your Mii character too whilst selecting different ski gear for your character. You need to use the Nunchuck and Remote in your hands to use as ski poles and step on the Wii Board to really take advantage of this great game. The Wii Board takes over to allow the player to turn whilst skiing by measuring the swaying and leaning of the body. In Family Ski, there are 14 different slopes to...
