It was an R-reg, my first ever brand new car, because for a family car it was exceptional value. I paid £10,000 for it, and that was the on the road price, now I call that VERY reasonable. It is a very practical car and very reliable. The Skoda dealer offers a very good after sales service and nothing is too much trouble. There is a Three year Manufacturers Unlimited Mileage Warranty, plus Three years Full AA Break down Cover. You get a yearly service also, but within the three years this is free. I love my Skoda!

Advantages: Fuel economy, space, price

...My Skoda Felicia Estate (N reg) is reliable and hasn't let me down in 4 years. Other than putting up with the jokes it has been the best car I have ever owned. My local dealer also does the repairs and servicing. Parts seem easy to get and are fitted swiftly and efficiently, not that we've needed many. Fuel consumption is excellent. I do a mixture of low mileage town driving and moderately longer distance for business. My Felicia was bought second hand from a recognised Skoda Dealer and I would recommend you find one rather than buying privately. I would recommend a Skoda if you are looking for a new car. The Felicia is an older model and the newer models certainly look mor attractive but in my view this makes my car less attractive to car thieves! Yes, I drive a Skoda - don't laugh!

Advantages: Easy to drive, unlikely to get nicked!

Skoda Service

...I can only comment on two Skoda Dealers, as I have only dealt with these two. The first dealer was The Chequered Flag Garage at Attleborough in Norfolk. This is where I bought my Skoda Octavia. I spoke to the owner of the Garage , Felix Desiera, several times on the telephone whilst arranging to buy the Octavia and each time I found him knowledgeable and very helpful and we managed to strike up a deal. I ordered the car and arranged to collect the car one weekend. On arrival at the dealer we (my family came with me) were made to feel at home straight away and the kids were asked to help themselves to some snacks out of the shop attached to the Garage. A Vast Improvement From Yesteryear

Advantages: Cheap. Reasonably comfortable,. Economical

In those days cars produced by companies behind the then "Iron Curtain" were something of a joke and owners of such cheapies went through agonies from their mates. However, as we all know the Czechs peacefully overthrew the yokes of Communism and the old Skoda company was taken over by the German giant Volkswagen. Result a vast improvement in the quality of the cars produced by the Czech company and in the after sales service. The Skoda Felicia is now a highly competitive car with a surprising number of virtues. Czech Mate

Advantages: Well priced and comfortable

...As I have mentioned in a previous opinion, I am lucky in my job to be able to try out lots of different cars for a few days at a time. I am now ashamed to admit that when I discovered my next car would be a Skoda Felicia, my heart sank. The name Skoda normally brings out all the tired old jokes and smart remarks, so I was dreading it. When VW took over Skoda, things began to improve due to the experience of VW, and the Felicia was the first model produced after the takeover. Even the most diehard car snob had to admit that Volkswagen had come up trumps. The Felicia has a satisfactory 1300cc engine, and while it was not as nippy as many other cars the same size, it is ideal for inner city driving where quick blasts of acceleration are not always needed. I found no problem in keeping up with the flow of traffic on my journey...

Second Hand Skoda Favorit

Advantages: Excellent Build, Safe, Cheap, well equiped.

Now my first was a Foreman Pickup 1993 model, a great fun car and practical on occasion. Now i needed 5 seats and as i prefer the look of the hatch managed to find a mint condition M reg (1995) GLXiE Flairline. This car comes with central locking, Alloy wheels, Electric froint windows, front fog lights and remote opening tailgate. At the grand price of £200 I had a bargain, a much tidier car than an equivalent aged Astra or Escort and more quirky. Reliable car for first time buyers

Advantages: All-round economic car, strong body, very safe for passengers

If you're in the market for a new car and have never purchased a car before (like we were), this is what will make the Skoda a particularly attractive purchase. We bought in 1993 the estate version of this car, and have just now decided to change it. Let me tell you the good and bad points. The Skoda has a good strong body and in the few small accidents we were in, it stood up very well with less damage than the other cars involved. This is a major consideration if you have children, as we do. So, the car is very safe for its passengers. I had intended to buy a decent second hand model but on visiting the dealer, I was so impressed with the estate version of the 1.9tdi Fabia, that I took the plunge. Having since had 100% reliability, economical fuel consumption , the added bonus of quick off the mark acceleration for an exceptionally value for money price, I am glad I took the plunge as I have not regretted my choice of car. Capacious boot space that takes all my golf clubs, trolley and more without having to lower the rear seats is also something to appreciate.
