Technics 1200's-the best and sexiest decks around

...Many decks claim to be better than the industry standard-the Technics SL1210 or SL1200-but none, in my opinion, come close. These are the best selling decks there are, so surely that shows how good they are. With +/-8% pitch, and very quick start up times, no wonder nearly all top DJs choose Technics as their weapon. The Technics decks have been around for years, but still look ready for business. Although there is no difference performance wise, I prefer the Technics 1200s to the 1210s. With their sexy silver finish and retro look, these decks would look at home anywhere, not just in the big clubs. Most of the cheaper decks copy the same layout as the 1200s and 1210s, which has now become the industry standard layout, though they cannot match their performance. The only small problem with them is that the pitch fader clicks into place...

Review of Technics SL-1200

Technics 1200 / 1210 Mk2

Advantages: same turntable at home as in the clubs
Disadvantages: heavy

...Technics 1200 / 1210 what more can you say its the number one DJ turntable on the planet. For years and years when i was younger just geting in to Djing all i wanted was a pair of technics. after a few years with other direct drive decks i finally saved enough money to buy a pair i of technics, i bought the SL1200Mk2 because they were silver i did not like the brown of the 1210 much. i have read around and talked to people and aparently the only difference between the 1200 and the 1210 is the colour. I set up my new 1200s and got the tunes out. Wow what a turntable, after years of trying out all other types of direct drive turntables i could instantly see and feel the difference in build quality. the technics weight alot compared to any other turntable, this is because the bottom black base you see is not made of cheap moulded...

Review of Technics SL1200Mk2 Turntable

Gotta Love Technics!

Advantages: Build quality.
Disadvantages: Would be good to have a wider pitch range.

...This is yet another update to the industry standard direct drive Technics SL1200 turntable. To be honest, this is not massively different to the M3 edition, the most noticeable difference is the white LED light and the anti-skate control (which I never adjust anyway). As with all Technics, this plays records at either 33 or 45 rpm and you have the option to select the speed between -8% and +8%. This turntable also has the 'pitch reset' button which, if pressed, ignores the pitch selected on the fader and plays the record as if at 0%. A nice feature, although I hardly use it. Putting the cartridge and stylus together was a tricky job but these things always are. After doing a fair few over the years I can do it fairly quickly but newcomers should always read the instructions very carefully before attempting it. This is a great looking...

Classic 500SL

Advantages: Affordable luxury motoring

SL1210's

Advantages: top of its class
Disadvantages: there are none!

...Ahh, Technics SL1210 MK2 decks are a delight in themsleves, and proof that some things in life DO stand the test of time!! The Sleek Black casings, the silver pop up light, the black and silver feet, oohh it oozes class!! Not only are SL1210 MK2's the most technically accurate turntables, with the most amazing pitch control, they are very hardwearing, a friend of mines got tossed out of a 6th floor window in an emergency situation (!) and survived, well the covers never, but they still work a treat and thats the main thing. If you dont abuse your decks, look after the covers, maintain your needles regularly and keep the boxes, they will hold their retail value exceptionally well if you ever decide to sell them (though why would is beyond me!!) Technics are still the DJ's number one choice, but i do understand people who...

Review of Technics SL-1210

Triumph Trophy 1200

Advantages: Great all round bike
Disadvantages: May be too large for shorter people

...I own the 2001 version of this bike. The 1200cc 4 cylinder motor sure does pack a punch. It can out perform most bikes on the road. It is a great tourer and commuter especially if the full luggage set is installed. This consists of 2 panniers and the optional top box. I have the triumph panniers but the top box i have is made by shad. The triumph top box is an optional extra and expensive new. It can be purchased on ebay though but you will need to be patient to locate the colour you are after. It is a large bike but is ideally suited to those longer in the leg. It fits me perfectly as im just over 6 foot. The comfort is variable but some people chose to fit an alternative seat such as a corbin or instal a sheepskin cover. The comfort for the passenger is alot better due to the width of the seat. I commute everyday on mine 20 miles...

However, if you are in the market for a good DVD player that is packed with features, the JVC XV-N55SL would be worthy of consideration. We have had ours a couple of years now, but last year it got relegated to the dining room when we purchased our DVD recorder. Still the industry standard turntable?

Advantages: Excellent reliablity, accurate pitch control, nice feel to them
Disadvantages: Not so many features compared to newer decks, low pitch range

Now I come to the negative aspects - and there are a few, namely lack of features. The only one which has really ever aggravated me is the small pitch range that is available - only +/- 8%. While this is enough for mixing most types of music, particularly of the same genre, it can be slightly annoying when two tunes just won't quite go, which often happens to me when I am trying to cross genres such as moving from techno to hard NRG. While it is possible to replace the pitch range with +/- 16 or 25%, these do not come as standard and fitting them will probably void your warranty. It must be noted that the latest limited edition, the SL1210 MK5Gs, have an increased pitch range of 16%. There...

BINATONE PEGASYS 1200!!

Advantages: small,lightwieght,cheap
