...How I fell in love with this mobile phone: Still living in Switzerland, I broke my mobile phone and went to a shop looking for a new one. Before, I always had Nokias, but this time I saw the Siemens SL55 and simply wanted it. Because I am not really a technical hero, the looks did it for me to be honest. Looks: You can get this tiny beauty (length x width x height = 81.6 x 44.5 x 21.9 mm) in titan and rubin. It slides open and reveals the keyboard. At the beginning I had to get used to it, as the keyboard is different from a Nokia one. After you get the hang of it, it is easy to use. It has a colour screen, which I like. If you search a bit, you will be able to find a case for it. However, as it is quite small, it can be difficult to get a good one. The Siemens SL55, For all Anti-Bulk mobile lovers

Advantages: Small and Easy to use.
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly to use and expensive

...I decided to buy an SL55 Siemens mobile because of its size. I hate heavy bulky phones that take up all the room in my bag so the SL55 was the way to go. My budget was a little on the small size so I looked up E-Bay and found a refurbished model for £57.00. After a couple of days the phone died on me, so thanks to the dodgy person who sold me the phone, as I’m sure they knew it was broken. I have now learnt a valuable E-Bay lesson. Buy with a guarantee. The Wie Siemen Beastie

...Shortly after my Panasonic phone decided that it was going to stop working, I decided that I needed a new phone. Id been wanting a new phone for a thew months but now that my one was broken(by no fault of my own) I actually had an excuse to treat myself to a nice new mobile. I decided I wanted a SL55 so searched the shops and after finding the best price to be £200 I looked on eBay, where I then got my phone! The phone itself is absolutely tiny, the keypad slides out from underneath and I believe it was one of the first phones to incorporate this function. The new advanced siemens

Advantages: Small, New, camara, light
Disadvantages: no radio, no bluetooth, low standby time

...I use to have a Nokia 6510 and although it is quite a nice phone i wanted a newer phone with more features. I got this new siemens phone because i thought it would be advanced in that it would have most of the features that you would get with other phones. The phone comes in two colours in titan or ruby red. This was so that i wouldnt have to get a newer phone in just a few months time. The phone is quite small and is approximatly 82x45x22mm in size and weighs 79g. It has quite a lot of the normal features such as calculator, stopwatch and messaging and more including MMS, Polyphonic ringtones and Wallpapers/screensavers. Apart from the phone not having picture messaging and a wallet (from my old phone) i think that it is quite a nice little phone with a lot of features. The phone for your worst enemy

...I learned a hard lesson with this phone - never buy on impulse. I bought it on ebay as a last minute impulse thing without doing my research. I have sold the phone now - I couldn't get rid of it quickly enough. I have read contless phone reviews (on this and other sites) and I have never seen feedback as poor for any phone compared to the SL55. There was horror story after horror story. It has the looks but can it live up to them?

Advantages: Stunning Design, Light as a feather, Great size!
Disadvantages: Software - if this was a nokia it would be the best phone ever.

...I bought my SL55 through Virgin Mobile (an excellent service provider) at a great price a few months ago. The SL55 looks great, its compact, light and will turn heads. It's generally quite well designed but I have some doubts about its durability - the slide action is cool but I don't know if I trust it not to get lose/break. The phone does lack in features for those gadget lovers amongst us, the software is not as good as nokia's for example, texting can be difficult, no camera or bluetooth modules installed (add on camera available). I've only had one bad experience when the phone froze and required a restart but nothing major. A lovely little phone for what it is. I bought it mainly for it's design and size - it looks lovely and is very compact. What it lacks in features it makes up in looks....

12 months on..... (was it worth it?)

Disadvantages: cheap, poor R&D, bad battery

...I was so pleased when I bunked off work for 2 hours to race home & unwrap the SL55 - I was happy for about 4 hours. WHAT I HATED I have used this phone for 12 months now, and it is not wonderful. The screen is absolutely tiny and you really have to strain to view a picture or play a game. The screen is also too exposed, it lies on a curve and attracts any object in your pocket or bag - it will get scratched very quickly indeed. The battery is terrible, considering todays average battery life. At no point was I able to get more than 24 hours out of it. (Making 1-2 hours of calls per day) The buttons are its WORST feature, it is impossible to use without childlike fingers, they are too small, too cheap and the top half of the slide interferes with your dialing/texting.
