...Hi Ive just been to slaters shop in stirling.I was very impressed when i entered the shop iwas approached by iain mccarren store manager who helped me when i was trying to make my mind up what suit to buy. He was very helpful and proffesional towards me in helping me make the right choice.I ended up buying two suits.I then made an enquiry about xxxl shirts and tee-shirts i then was passed onto david shiels who was a great help after all the bother i had went to to try and find a shop that sold xxxl tops and here it is on my door step.these guys along with all the other staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is to much bother for them.The price of the suits was fantastic.And i only had to wait half an hour for the alterations to be made to my suit.What more can i say about this great shop.Well i think im going to become...

Don't expect Slater to be your diet guru!

Advantages: Good instructions, great variety
Disadvantages: Very fattening!

...I have had this book for a couple of years and I have cooked quite a few of the recipes with great success. Nigel Slater's approach is to demistify cooking by cutting down on unnecessarily pretentious ingredients and methods, as wells as faddy diets and rules. One thing this is NOT is a healthy eating book. In fact, you have to be really careful - I'm almost certain that if you eat exclusively from these recipes for a month you will gain a stone. They all invariably involve cream, starchy carbs, and fatty meats, and more often than not a combination of the three. Something to watch out for is the portion sizes - I always tend to be overly generous and increase portions slightly when using other recipe books (eg, making a recipe for 3 for only 2 people), whereas with these books you can safely assume there is more than enough...

Bob Maconel (Christian Slater) is a loner, sad and moody he keeps himself to himself; by day he works, by night he goes home and watches his broken TV. His only friends are his fish and two humming birds that hang around his kitchen window, Bob talks to the birds and rather bizarrely they talk back to him. Slaters caters for all sorts but mainly for those who want to get absolutely wasted, all drinks are horendusly cheap, they get you drunk but are not th best of quality. Slaters is the only place you can goto in Liverpool and get a double whiskey/vodka/bacardi for £1. Most bottles of lager are £1 asnd most pints are arround the same. I think the only thing that isnt £1 is the range of about 10 cocktails witch go for the grand sum of £1.50. Slaters is cheap and cheerful and if you don’t mind a hangover in the morning is well worth downing a few doubles. It?s also equally not often that I find a menswear shop that has so much choice, caters solely for men and where the friendly sales assistants actually know what they are talking about. That is until I rediscovered Slater?s. I first shopped there almost five years ago and even though I remember the sales assistants to be a little pushy, I did leave the shop having purchased a fine suit, together with shirt and tie. They must have done something right. My second visit I am ashamed to say was five years later.
