...Just bought this bat ready for the new summer season and I must say I?m very impressed. Weight wise it?s nice and light, although a tad heavier towards the toe, obviously for power purposes although the heavier end allows for a nice heavy swing with less effort in the elbows and wrists. If the bat is 100% with 0% being by the handle and 100% being the toe. The sweetest spot is at about 80%, although the bat is actually quite thin the sweet spot covers the entire face area around the sweet spot. I think this is because of the flatness of the bat this far down. As most cricket bats have a curve like a road where it?s higher in the middle and curves off towards the edges. Slazenger V500 Select Cricket Bat

Advantages: Brilliant middle, nice design

...After finishing my first season at my local cricket club with no cricket bat of my own, I decided it was about time to buy my own. After lots of recommendations about different bats I decided to go to the sports store and find out more. Thats when I stumbled upon an end of season price for the Slazenger V500 Select of £30. Usually this particular bat is £70. I plumped for the Short handle (mainly because it was the only one left in the shop!!). I wasn't disappointed. The bat didn't need 'knocking in' due to the protective cover over the front so I was straight in the Winter Nets with it. After a few overs getting used to the bat, I found the middle quite easily. The middle of this bat is not for the faint hearted!! A nice cover drive saw the ball hurtling THROUGH the bottom of the net and towards the far corner of the room...

Great Bat.

Advantages: Lovely Bat
Disadvantages: Seems A Lot Of Money To Some

...As it is now coming up to the new cricket season, I was in desperate need of a new bat, a good new bat unlike my previous few. I opoted for the Slazenger V600 Select (same model as Mark Butcher, England and surrey uses, but obviously a better bat), it was £94 from www.cricket-hockey.com, (RRP £120) with free P&P within 5 working days. The bat is made from grade three English willow, and with cricket-hockey, it came pre-knocked in (saves sitting there with a mallet for nine hours), and also with a toe gaurd, so you don't much up the bottom of the bat while using it. Although it came pre-knocked in, I would advise more knocking in to get the best perormance, and save it getting cracked in it's early stages of life. The new design for 2004, has made this bat designed with a maroon grip (handle), and a maroon patter on back...

...LOOKS This Bat in my view is one of the best looking bats around and has not got to much pictures on the bat like the Kookaburra angry beast. I think the blue and red go very well together and really look good. Even the grip fits in with the style having blue slashes on it done by "the beast". The beast itself is not overdone but it still noticeable from a distance. I think the fact that the wood is unbleached giving it a more white effect looks better for it's style than a darker wood. I love the looks because you can really show the bat off and not worry about being seen bating with it. POWER The middle on this bat is awesome you can hit a cricket ball miles and you really know when you have caught it right. Bat Out Of Hell - Great Eardrum Exercise

Advantages: Iconic album, brilliant songs, awesome voice.
Disadvantages: Not everyones taste, maybe too much disparity in song types for just 7 songs.

I first heard the song Bat Out Of Hell eight years ago, when I was only ten, and didn't think that much to it. What I didn't realise however, was what I had heard on the free Daily Mail CD of Power Ballads, was an awfully watered down and pitifully edited four minute version of the song. Hells Bells - Like a Bat out of Hell

Advantages: An absolute classic album
Disadvantages: None

...Is it really thirty years since this album was originally released ?(well coming up for 29 to be precise becasue it was originally released on 21 October 1977). This is rightly rated as one of the greatest albums ever produced, and despite their only being seven tracks on the album, each of them is quite lengthy in nature. This is definitely a case of quality and quantity. If there is anybody out there who has never heard of Meatloaf, or have only grown up with the later stuff such as I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that) then you haven't lived. This is the ultimate in classic rock, and there really isn't a weak track on the album. Bat out of Hell is Meatloafs (aka Marvin Lee Aday) second album and by far his most successful. Good Woodworm Cricket Bat for a Junior/Beginner

...I recommended this bat to a brother of mine, a beginner, with not much experience of the game. I recommened this bat because of its value for money, as a junior or beginner, you don't want to be paying too much money for a bat, as it is all about fun, and not being too serious. As for the bat itself, you get what you pay for, you know when you pay around £20 your not going to get the best bat ever, but for a junior or beginner to the game it would be excellent due to its durability and weight. The bat my brother bought still exists now, well worn but he still uses it to this day, around a year or two ago when he bought it, he likes it and hes picky! In review i recommend this bat to all it fits, and i hope this has helped you all in the search of a new cricket bat. Regards, mrcricket....

...The Ultimate Glove. More technology here than in an aircraft, there well protected, comfy and look good! I've had a pair for a year now and have fallen in love with them. Although I've only been hit there a few times it hurts distinctively less than any of my previous gloves. Quad Flex, Hex Tech impact absorption, fibre inserts, Slazenger's airflow system, are the official names for all the protection bits. The palms also absorb your sweat so cuts out the need for inner gloves. They are very durable (mine are still in good condition after a year playing a few times a week!). However one note of caution, the Velcro is slightly too big for the strap, so if you like to wear a woolly jumper when batting it often attaches itself and can get very annoying.
