...I first read Ballet Shoes when I was eight. It was the first of Noel Streatfield's books I'd read, and it remains my favourite. I put it away during my teenage years and forgot about it until Christmas 2007 when I watched the BBC adaptation with Emma Watson. I went to Indonesia and got the film on knock-off DVD, and immediately after watching I rang home to get my parents to order me a copy. It was a great welcome home. The book opens with 'Garnie' moving into a huge mansion, filled with fossils. She and her nurse (Nana) are moving in with her uncle. Green Wellie Shoes

...resembled a meadow! It was also very wet. We have three areas of grass in our garden (lawns) and two were in dire need of cutting. For the first time this year I managed this without getting thoroughly wet feet. I have to also say that my feet were so comfortable that I quite forgot that I was wearing my new shoes. I quite expected that my feet would get very warm but did not find this a problem. As they are shoes, you don't feel as restricted as you would in Wellington Boots either and they are much easier to get on and off. They are also the shoes I reach for when I take the dog out first thing in the morning. They are easy to clean - a quick wipe with a damp cloth will suffice. All in all, I consider that they were a very good buy. I paid £8.99 for them in Focus Do It All - although I have seen similar ones for much more...

...In Her Shoes had been on my to-buy DVD list for some time , and so while I was passing through Woolworths one day , I noticed it was on sale for £5. So I bought it. In Her Shoes stars Cameron Diaz , Toni Collette and Shirley Maclaine. The dvd features a blonde Cameron Diaz in jeans and a revealing green top , sitting on a sofa and facing sideways , giving the camera a flirtatious pose. By her side is Toni Collette sitting with her legs cross on the same sofa , wearing a black suit , messy hair. There is a dog to her right , with a pair of shoes in it's mouth. ...mumsy. I think this is a common problem to all shoe shops. I tend to always come out of a shoe shop with a Mary Jane style shoe with a small heel. This time I was brave and came out with a plain pair of black court shoes with a chunky heel that was quite high for me. I felt really grown up when wearing them. They were £8 in the sale a bargain. I also think the shop caters for a wide range of ages. Sizewise they are average as in the ladies they stock size 3-8. Unfortunate they do not stock wider fitting shoes. One width fits all. Quality I have bought quite a few pairs of shoes from Shoe Express and they have lasted just as long as more expensive shoes. In fact some of them have been harder wearing. Customer Service. ...I just reviewed The Nanny Diaries which was a book turned film but another which was done like this a few years back was 'In Her Shoes'. It was another book which I had been meaning to read and had literally just seemed to have heard about. Next thing I knew, I was seeing trailers for the film version so yet again I never got round to the book and ended up having to see the film version first.
