Stack it up

Advantages: good to play with
Disadvantages: none

.... I discovered the some stacking rings for 50pwhen I went into my local charity shop to give them some old jewellery. Useful addition to the toy box at my house I thought. They were in good condition so I took them home soaked them in dettol to get rid of any germs. I don?t think Adrian is quite old enough to play with these yet but one day?. These stacking rings are brightly coloured plastic rings that are graded in size. They fit onto a vertical pole that is supported on a flat base. There are 6 rings to sort and stack. The rings are easy for a baby to pick up and hold. This is a very durable toy it should last several children- if you do not lose one of the rings! There are several manufacturers of these toys. All similar design. Stacking rings are good educational toys. Suitable for a baby of maybe 9 - 10 months...

Review of Stacking rings

A whole stack of fun!

Advantages: numerous
Disadvantages: none

...the E.L.C version, which has 7, rings in different colours. There is a ball, which fits on top of the rings when they have been stacked correctly. This toy costs £8.00,good value I think. 3. D.K.L makes 2 wooden versions of this toy. One a giant set consisting of 8 rings costs £20.00And a smaller one which is a more affordable £9.00 also with 8 rings. I have only been able to examine the cheaper version, which appeared well made in brightly coloured hard wood. This toy is available from Mail order express and John Lewis. 4.Plan toys also make stacking rings in different coloured hardwood. This version is very similar to the one sold in E.L.C and has a ball, which fits onto the top. The plan version costs £10.99 and is again available in John Lewis 5.Stacking rings are also available in plastic .I bought a set of plastic stacking...

Samsung NC10 Review

Advantages: Good battery life, nice screen, near enough a full size keyboard
Disadvantages: small-ish trackpad

...I recieved this netbook for christmas and all i can say is 'wow'! My background with computers is vast having built many and installed multiple operating systems on each, however i have never owned a laptop. Therefore i was a little dubious about some of the things such as keyboard size, processing power and battery life. I was looking for a laptop which is very small in physical size while packing a punch so it could still carry out multiple tasks. Buying a full size (15.4") laptop seemed a bit pointlesss as i have two tower pc's which are my main machines, so this was just to be about casual surfing/ reading emails/ browsing while on the move. The Samsung NC10 is in my view one of the very best netbooks out there, the keyboard is just shy of being full size so no cramped typing (this review was written on it) Combine this...

Samsung NC10 Netbook

Advantages: Lots of connectivity - Big keyboard - excellent screen - Good spec
Disadvantages: bad sleeve to store netbook - battery life not that long - small touchpad

...I managed to pick up this netbook for £299 which is oustanding value - from play.com. The netbook is very light and can fit almost anywhere - it is very easy to carry around - you can set up anywhere and very easily connect to the internet where available. The netbook looks very stylish and everything is laid out well. The keyboard is the biggest i have ever seen on a netbook - its almost full size which is a bonus as I have a lot of typing to do. One disadvantage of this is that the mousepad has been made very small which is a nuisance - you do get used to it but it is not ideal. The specs for this netbook are impressive I mean a massive 160GB hard drive, a 10.2 inch screen. 1 GB of RAM and a 1.6GHZ intel atom processor. This spec allows the netbook to operate very fastly - the whole 6 months I have had this netbook - it has...

GOOD STACKING TOY

Advantages: WELL MADE
Disadvantages: NONE

...Melissa and Doug make some good strong wooden toys. This Flair Melissa & Doug - Stack and Sort Board is one I have seen many children use. It is really an educational toy. This board is a fairly thick base about 6cm wide and 2 cm thick it is about 30cm long .(my measurements are not exact but guesswork I do not have the toy with me but visualised it against a ruler I have here .) There are 5 poles of ascending heights fitted into the natural coloured base these have The tip at the enc coloured either red , blue , yellow , purple or green. Onto these fit coloured shapes. There is 1 green circle, two purple rectangles, 3 yellow triangles, 4 blue squares and 5 red pentagons 15 shapes in total . These shapes will fit onto any of the poles but the idea is to match the colours and shapes and then pop them onto the same pole...

Samsung NC10 Black netbook a lightweight and excellent netbook

Advantages: Great screen, excellent battery life,
Disadvantages: Poor speakers, personal headphones or additional speakers definitely help

...I bought my NC10 to replace my laptop which was just too heavy to be carrying to and from work everyday. I purchased my NC10 on a promotion weekend from a high street store beating online prices significantly. I was trying to avoid big bulky items to carry as I was on crutches at the time. Not recommended but straight out of box into my rucksack in the shop from which it was purchased. Didn't notice much weight difference in my bag at all. The Samsung NC10 has served me dilligently now being used more and more instead of my normal laptop as battery life is excellent. I use the NC10 round the house for coursework, work and even during my work lunch. The screen is bright and very easy to read, I primarily use the NC10 at home for surfing the net to shop and for music in the background. I have an extensive playlist on Spotify...

Stack it up baby.

Advantages: good toy
Disadvantages: none

...Brio stacking clown. I have played with this toy for many years and thought it was about time I reviewed it. I just checked a few details on line and was amazed to find that Brio have been making this stacking clown toy since 1953! (Or some form of it). I knew that I have played with it for most of my career working with children but had not realised it was available a year before I was born. There are many stacking toys available to buy. The reason why this stacking clown is still made by Brio is that it is a really good stacking toy for children to play with. The Brio Stacking clown has 9 pieces. There is a circular yellow base from the centre of which sticks up a pole. There are 5 brightly coloured, fairly thick disks of varying circumferences which have a hole in the centre these fit onto the pole. These discs can be put...

SAMSUNG NP-NC10 Blue Netbook 1.6ghz Atom Processor

Advantages: Robust, Large Keyboard, Large Screen, Good Support.
Disadvantages: 1 Memory Slot, No Mobile Broadband Sim Slot, Specific keyboard key in unusual place.

...This netbook has to be one of my favourites, boasting a solid case, 10' screen and a fast bootup to Windows XP. Having played around with a few netbooks recently all boasting similar specifications, I can honestly say that I was not disappointed with this offering from Samsung. There are some negatives that let this review down slightly, so I will get these out of the way first. 1. The "\" key is located on the right side of the keyboard next to the "/" key. This takes some getting used to when swapping from a normal keyboard and you tend to select this by accident instead of the shift key. 2. There is no mobile broadband sim socket, so you have to buy one of the mobile broadband usb sticks which is fine but it would have been neater to simply keep a sim permanently in the netbook. 3. The BIOS on my netbook was out of date...

nesting and stacking

Advantages: helps childs development
Disadvantages: none

...Stacking nesting cups I was playing with these at work, well the children were anyway so I thought I would tell you about them. Stacking /nesting cups are produced by many different manufacturers Toys are us have some basic ones for £3.99 for 10 size graded cups . The early learning centre has some similar for £5 or some with faces on for £6. As well as the basic cup shape I have seen stacking nesting toys shaped like barrels or triangular shapes. I think the basic cup shapes are good . The ones I have mentioned are bright primary colours attractive to a baby’s eye. These cups help develop hand control and spatial awareness, they can either nest in each other or be built up stacking on top of each other to build a tower. Babies, /children love putting things in other things hiding items and will enjoy finding the right...
