BT RUBBISH HOME HUB
Advantages: PRETTY FLASHING LIGHTS
Disadvantages: CONSTANT BREAKDOWN
...I had a BT line installed purely to get broadband after many years of dial up modems and slow downloads. My cable phone was two years away from installing such equipment within my postcode so as you can imagine i was rather excited when the phone line was put in.I then received my box and was like a kid at christmas.
The Product......
I had signed up with BT on a minimum contract of 12 months which i thought was reasonable and had chosen the option 3 unlimited download package for £18 for the first six months.Thereafter it went up to £24 a month which i still thought was ok considering i got a hub phone which entitled me to cheap calls.Anyway,i opened this box to find a white plastic hub that you could stare at and break and a phone which was ok i guess.
The box has five green lights across the top and each represents a mode...

The BT Home Hub
Advantages: Its free with some packages.
Disadvantages: It is abysmal.
...This is one of the worst products I have ever had the misfortune to use. When it first arrived, it was immediately evident that it would be annoying, there are 5 constantly on and flashing lights that are too bright, and also no useful lights to show network activity as would be present on a normal router.
The interface of the router (http://192.168.1.254) is atrocious. Its poorly laid out, is not at all simple to use and can be very, very slow.
Another problem is the regular development of errors with the Hub. It will seemingly at random disconnect wireless devices, disable one or both of the network ports, block some programs but not others, or just stop working completely.
Of course, the only action to take when a router stops working is to restart - but is there a restart button? No. You have to manually go to the device...

Home Hub - The Future of Surfing
Advantages: Stylish, Fast, Modern
Disadvantages: Can have some problems with connection
...I have been using the Internet now for a good few years and was quite excited at hearing of the New BT Home hub with it's integrated security and online storage.
I ordered the package with the best option (8MB) partly due to me being on the internet whenever I am not working and partly because I always assume the more expensive, the better, the Hub came free with this option.
I recieved my Home Hub a week later and was pleased to see how easy it was to set up and came with all the wires, discs and instructions you need. Within 5 minutes I had installed and was surfing the net.
First impressions were good, the speed was fast and was pretty eventless.
Within the first day I was having problems with my Hub, for some reason the hub would reset itself or the internet would stop working and would require me to unplug the mains to...

BT Home Hub - mediocore but not without its uses
Advantages: It works!
Disadvantages: Cheaply made but expensive to buy, can get free from BT
...The BT Home Hub is a Wireless Broadband Router from British Telecom. It's IEEE 802.11b standard (best known under its marketing name WiFi) and features compatibiliy with a wide range of other WiFi devices. Though not the first of BT's broadband devices it does happen to significantly mark the provider's departure from traditional telecommunications and towards a modern media and internet communication. The Hub connects using the standard ADSL connection and supports VoIP (Voice over Inernet Protocol - basically internet calling) and is compatible with a wide range of existing handsets. The device is a fantastic essential to the BT Fusion package and also the VoD (Video on Demand) service available at the present. The BT Home Hub is free for new customers, free to upgrading customers and can also be bought online from a wide variety...

BT Home Hub
Advantages: reliable service
Disadvantages: None
...I have found this product to be far superior than the first hub I had - I have never had any problems with the hub and service wise it is completely reliable. It was very easy to set up with an easy and fast guide to set up the hub and connect to the computer - the speed is excellent and connects great with the Belkin Wireless Pre - N products. It is very easy to update - the lights on the are very easy to understand and you know if your line is not connected properly. I haven't had to call BT because of service interruptions and would not have any qualms in recommending this product to anyone. I believe reliability is the key and I am willing to pay a bit more via a BT package to gain the good service....

Black Home Hub and Phone
Advantages: ADSL Modem + Wireless Router and Broadband phone all in 1, looks the business too!
Disadvantages: Expensive if bought outright (ie. not as part of a broadband package)
...I opted to go with BT for my telephone and broadband service and as part of my broadband package I received a black Home Hub and Phone. The black finish is very attractive allowing it to be on display rather than hidden away.
It came with instructions to set it up which were very helpful, I had mine set up in no time at all! The unit has all the indicators you'd expect to find on a normal ADSL modem and they are very straight-forward to read. The Hub has wireless and wired networking capabilities and can also be connected to a computer via USB 2.0.
The hub phone is actually a broadband phone (something I did not know when I ordered the package), BT will provide you with the telephone number for it if it is purchased as part of a broadband package. It works just like a normal phone but provides free evening and weekends calls! If...

The BT Home Hub
Advantages: Multiple wireless and wired connections, Wireless phone.
Disadvantages: There are no disadvantages
...We decided to putchase the BT home hub option 3 package as we have mulitple PCs in the house and this enabled more than one to go online, I did no know what to expect from this product, but it fit the bill perfectly.
The fact that this router enables 3 wired connections, multiple wireless and household phone dock instantly sounded appealing to me. Every person in my family is now able to use their own PC online with no trouble at all, we have 2 wireless connections, 1 usb connection and 1 LAN connection. No matter how many people are using a computer, the connection never lags, the wireless has a very long range which is another good feature of the hub.
We have had the hub for about 7 months now, and never come across a single problem, as soon as the day we got it it was connect the cables, switch on, wait for the server to connect...

External USB HUB
Advantages: external plug in device, easy to set up, runs smoothly
Disadvantages: None
...If you need to increase the number of USB ports on your system then I can highly reccomend the Belkin External USB Hub F5U021. Just plug it in and away you go and at just £24.99 from PCWorld it is very good value for money. It comes complete with everything you need to be up and running in under 1 minute.
It has provided me with the solution as to how to plug 4 USB devices into 2 ports. It now runs my 2 printers, webcamera and scanner through one port without any problems of any sort.
This small box of electronics plugs directly into an existing USB port and can then run upto 4 seperate USB devices via its own 4 USB ports situated at the rear. It comes with its own power source which you may or may not need to use depending upon what devices you want to run through it. By using the power supply your devices will get the same power...

BT Home Hub V1.5
Advantages: Free, good customer suport.
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy outright, occasional firmware issues
...We had the the BT Home Hub (Version 1.5) since early 2008 - following problems with the previous version we had since switching to wireless broadband with BT. We received both versions of the home hub free with the bt total broadband package.
The version 1.5 Hub looks very neat and stylish and runs smoothly, however occasionally the hub will need a reboot. This is a simple operation performed by pressing a dedicated reset button located on the right hand sdie of the hub. Previous versions required the user to have to annoyingly unplug the hub and and then wait 30 seconds before re-powering it up.
The hub usually retains the wireless settings configured by the user, although several times the firmware updates (automatically downloaded from BT) have caused a factory reset to the default installation configuration. This is mildly...

Belkin USB hub
Advantages: Plenty of ports, stackable, simple display
Disadvantages: Yet another power lead, relativley short cable.
...Im not an expert on USB hubs, so il just try to give a a good review based on my experiences of the product. I hope its helpful.
Well, what can i say appart from "its a usb hub"!. It sits under my monitor and does everything i want it to to.
The hub is plug and play, so no installation needed. It does need its own power outlet, and the adaptor is fairly large. It has a pleasant appearance, and the display consists of a red LED indicating power, and a green LED for each device connected.
There are 5 USB 2.0 sockets on the back and 2 on the top. I've found that the rear sockets are best for permanent connections (keyboards, mice etc) and the top 2 are useful for small devices such as Digital cameras and especially USB flash drives.
When a lot of devices are connected the hub does tend to move around (through tension from...
